How Did You Go Rd17

Written by Schwarzwalder on July 14 2019

Dunkley went BANG with a double century…..owning him may have made the difference in those close League matches. How did you end up in Rd17?

Heart in mouth moment when Bont went off injured but he came back strong. Some huge scores this round so not sure where i will sit here but the top 2 players both have Cogs. Bad luck to the teams on this site who copped the donut from him.
Now got to work out how to get Gawn back into my team!

    1. Nice work. Congrats on being brave enough to trade Gawn out (assuming you did it for his injury).

      1. Thanks chips. Brave or stupid not sure yet, i didnt think he’d bounce back as well lol. The plan is to trade out worpel and dpp Lycett forward to get him back, but now Worpel has stepped up so im uncertain all over again 🙂

      1. Have 6 trades left, don’t trust my cover, i also think that Cunnington scores better when he’s a lone soldier, north winning seems to have hurt his scores.

        1. What are you talking about Carl? He’s scored 133, 132 and 146 in recent North wins. Just got tagged, relax.

  2. 2412 / Grundy (VC) / 8,073 (RD16 rank)

Cogs’ zero killed me, would have pushed 2500 if I could have taken Clarke’s emergency score. Also should have trusted my gut and went with Danger VC instead of the mainstream Grundy option.

    1. 2666 – devils number there at the end!! Yeah, awesome effort and he looks like he has coniglio as a ‘spare’ mid and didnt play him … talk about getting all the calls correct … as well as VC on Danger … awesome – he must have sixth sense!!

      1. Ha ha thanks guys! The truth is I knew he was a bit sore from last week, and might spend more time forward. I definitely thought he would score at least 1 point though…

        2666 / Dangerfield / up 178 spots to 161 (ranked 108 for the round)

Sicily, Heeney and Hoff my only downs, everyone else ranged from adequate to beast mode (thanks Dunks!). Have to figure out what to do with Coniglio now.

          1. Sure thing, Bomber

Williams, Hurn, Crisp, Sicily, Lloyd, Stewart (Logue, Hinge)

Macrae, Neale, Cripps, Coniglio, Merrett, Fyfe, Sloane, Heeney (Murphy, Jarrod Cameron, Hately)

            Gawn, Grundy (Bines)

Dangerfield, Dunkley, Boak, TKelly, RGray, Westhoff (Jeremy Cameron, Gardner)

Only 3 trades left, but decent bench cover except for defence

              Great team
              Does Cogs get moved on?

I’m thinking Treloar may be a great pick as they have a decent run home?

    Shocker!
Gaff, Hurn, Sicily, Ziebell,Lycett, Heeney, Oliver, Logue donut and Conigli0
Traded out Kelly and will now probably have to trade cogs.
Season ending as I’ll probably have to trade cogs to a defender just to cover more carnage and save a couple of trades.
After such a high last week have come crashing down.
    That’s SC I guess

Could have brought in Byrne- Jones instead of taking Moore’s score but opted to waits for Whitfield . Let’s hope ribs okay

Delighted considering I had Moore 13 and held JKelly, so took Setters 70.

    Dunkley and Greene huge.

    1. Congratulation AS on your win over me in my league the Looney Mooneys.
You must have gone to church this morning as your PODS of Dunkley and Greene certainly made all the difference.
Happy enough with my best score of the year of 2447 .
      Still carrying Kelly.
The decision to make this week is whether to bring Whitfield or even Hurn in for Logue

      1. Thanks mate. Got lucky with Greene.

Have Hurn but am considering Whitfield for Moore. Concerned at how slight he is. No doubting he’s a gun but will break bones and get corkies like nobody else because of it. The tell-tale signs are there. Needs a Contested-free game like Lloyd if he’s to survive?! Maybe Crisp is safer and a bigger POD?

        1. Crisp played as a mid on Friday and with Pendles going down, reckon he could be a good option?

        2. My only concern is that with no Kelly and no Coniglio who are the opposition going to target/tag.
I think Whitfield will cop it.
Plus GWS have a tough draw next few weeks.
Crisp sounds like a smart choice or maybe take Birchall which I did to become your d7 and defer your decision a couple of weeks.

No cogs score , bont off injured , thought I was gone in league game. Along came dunks, plus taking danger over grundy vc = 26 points , won by 25.
On another note it seems almost unfair that you get a zero on field and have a scoring emergency that you can’t use.
Will take a smarter mind than mine to sort that out.

    1. nah, think about a real game. each team names four emergencies but once the game starts they play no part. same thing with supercoach

      1. Don’t disagree mouse , it doesn’t happen that often, but when it does it can bugger up a season.
It is more that you have no control over it, if you have a late out and you have set your team up with a playing e you are covered.

        1. It’s brutal but I reckon that’s supercoach. Always thought research gets you into the top 10k – from there it’s pure luck.

  10. 2485/Grundy

Copping the Coniglio donut hurt, especially with Clarke scoring a solid 78 but honestly cannot complain.

Wish my inclusions this week put up a better effort (Sicily, Oliver) but thankfully a few really standout performances helped me pile a nice score.

Fyfe, Danger, Grundy and Dunkley, take a bow.

Might gain back the 700 odd spots I lost last week.
    Traded Kelly to Duncan.
15 100+ scores. One of those being dunks. I started dunks and really considered trading him out early. So glad I kept him.
Big scores everywhere this week, still hoping I can finish the year in the top 1000

Lots of huge scores but rapt with my highest score this season. Wishing I’d traded in Treloar instead of Hurn this week but still happy with my team. Will hopefully break into the top 10k this week, after a disappointing season to date. Hoping to finish off the season strong and make a couple of finals at least.

Good all round effort other than Sicily, H Andrews and Oliver. My last 2-3 Def spots the only cattle giving me grief.

Might look at going Andrews to Whitfield this week or next, trades and injuries pending

I got greedy, had Grundy as VC but decided to take a punt on Gawn trying to sneak up the rankings a little. Might have worked if the umpires recognised the ‘ruck craft’ at its finest *wink*

  19. Off topic,
but why does it take the Supercoach site so long to bring up the next week’s lockout/scores etc etc.
I’m not a computer person at all (construction Worker) but isn’t it a straight forward program that would only have do basic maths and add the scores up.
I just thought it would happen reasonable quickly.
BTW I’m only asking this as I had best week of the year 2585, and I’m impatient to see how I went 🙂

My highest score ever and very happy to be moving back up after a couple of down weeks.
    16 @ 100+ (7 over 120) and only 2 sub 80.
Disappointed in you Brayshaw (out this week), Heeney, Hurn and Ryan.
Special mention to Toby Greene for finally doing what I got you in for and also to new recruit JPK replacing JKelly.

Thought I did alright considering I only fielded 21 (ty Logue), but I ended up dropping a few hundred places. Huge scores from Fyfe, Dunkley and Danger were not enough to make up for bum scores from Heeney, Sicily, Satan Oliver and Cunnington.

Will be full premo this week, hoping I can put out some decent scores in the remaining weeks.

Still got 1 more upgrade to do in back line
    6 trades left
Seems every one set on Whitfield? I tend to agree on the above comments he may get all the attention from opponents with Kelly and cogs out .
I currently have Williams, Lloyd, crisp, Sicily , Hurn
    With Answerth, Logue and Gardner.
    Any suggestions outside of GWS?

    0

    1. “all the attention from opponents” is a bit broad, Bomber. The only forseeable tags for Whitfield are Hewett and Howe in rounds 20 and 21. I don’t think Port will try another hard tag after it backfired on them today. GWS’ other opponents (Pies, Dogs & Suns) don’t tag, so Whitfield will be fine.

I think the issue with him is not tags but fragility leading to another stint on the sidelines. If fit, he’s easily the #1 DEF pick. If you take out his injury affected games, he is averaging 124.

Again, becomes a question of whether you think he’ll hold up till the end of the season.

  28. 2,443 / Grundy / 3,172 (was 2806)

A slightly disappointing end to what was looking like a good week, but, like last week, only lost a small amount of ground in the rankings, so no major harm done.

  29. 2504/Danger/7.5k

Happy with the score but lost two important league games because of the Conig donut (opps didn’t have him)

To make matters worse, I have Pendles as a pod so there’s another trade gone with him out for a few weeks.

Oh the pain. My top $1k target by season’s end appears to have just become impossible.

Most popular trade so far is Cogs to Dunk, what a surprise.

  31. 2378/Grundy/ 4197 (from 3194)

Far below the majority of the high scores listed here due to my non ownership of Dunkley and Marshall. Had a chance to grab Dunkley in RD8 but decided to grab the Hoff instead due to his dpp and the cash saved to help grab J Macrae, J Lloyd, J Kelly, P Cripps in the following month but now the differential is likely above 500 points.

Replaced M Hore with J Sicily to avoid a donut so disappointed with his performance but hopefully he’ll rectify it. 5 other players joined him in scoring less than 80 (D Clarke (filling in for J Kelly), J Westhoff, I Heeney, C Oliver and H Andrews) in comparison to 4 120+ (J Macrae, B Grundy, P Dangerfield and N Fyfe).

Another great performance from Goldy which is annoying due to trading him in RD14 for Gawn and I would’ve never expected Goldy to be 97 points ahead of Gawn playing only 3 matches in comparison to Gawn’s possible 4 (3 due to injury). The cash and trade saved would have likely been utilised in trading one of my rookies to a Marshall/Dunkley type.
