Adelaide Crows

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Rory Atkins  Shoulder  4-6 weeks
 Darcy Fogarty  Shoulder  Test
 Jordan Gallucci  Achilles  Season
 Wayne Milera  Foot  6-7 weeks
 Patrick Wilson  Shoulder  TBC
Updated: Monday, July 6

Early prognosis

The Crows will be hoping Fogarty is ready to play after his shoulder injury kept him out for a second game. The key forward was a late withdrawal in round four after the training incident but the club hopes he will be available to face West Coast on Saturday at the Gabba. Tyson Stengle is available after his club-imposed four-match ban for his alleged drink driving incident. – Callum Twomey

Brisbane Lions

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Marcus Adams  Foot  6-8 weeks
 Cameron Ellis-Yolmen  Calf  2-3 weeks
 Connor McFayden  Knee  Season
 Dayne Zorko  Calf  Test
 Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

Zorko has made a surprise recovery from his calf strain and is in the frame to return against Geelong on Thursday night. Ellis-Yolmen will miss at least a fortnight after scans confirmed he had suffered a strain and he hasn’t joined teammates on the road for the two-week stint in Sydney. Adams has suffered yet another foot setback and will require further rest. McFayden will go under the knife after tearing his ACL in a scratch match on the weekend. – Mitch Cleary

Carlton

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Charlie Curnow  Knee  Season
 Paddy Dow  Knee  Test
 Zac Fisher  Illness  Test
 Brodie Kemp  Knee  Season
 Matthew Kreuzer  Foot  5-7 weeks
 Caleb Marchbank  Knee  1-2 weeks
 Nic Newman  Knee  Season
Jack Silvagni  Ribs  Test
 Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

The Blues would be hopeful that Fisher will finally return, having been a late omission from last week’s defeat to the Saints due to a bout of gastro. Silvagni should come back into contention after fracturing a rib, while Dow is also an outside chance to return from a knee issue, but may need another week. Expect Marchbank to be another fortnight away, having been battling knee soreness. – Riley Beveridge

Collingwood

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Dayne Beams  Mental health  Indefinite
Jordan De Goey  COVID-19 testing  1 week
 Levi Greenwood  Knee  1-2 weeks
 Jeremy Howe  Knee  Indefinite
 Tom Langdon  Knee  Indefinite
 Ben Reid  Calf  1 week
 Steele Sidebottom  Suspension  3 matches
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

The Pies will be without De Goey this week, having broken the AFL’s quarantine protocols while being investigated for an incident assault charge. He now won’t be able to play until producing two negative COVID-19 tests, which won’t be returned until after Friday night’s clash with the Hawks. The club is hopeful Greenwood will return to contention from an ACL injury in the near future, having re-joined the main group at training over the last couple of weeks. Reid is also close to a return from a calf problem. Howe and Langdon are more long-term prospects, as both deal with respective knee issues. – Riley Beveridge

Essendon Bombers

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Patrick Ambrose  Foot  TBC
 Tom Cutler  Calf  2-3
 Joe Daniher  Groin  Indefinite
 Sam Draper  Knee  1 week

 Tom Hird  Foot  Season
 Lachie Johnson  Knee  8-10 weeks
 Kobe Mutch  Wrist  2-3 weeks
 Jake Stringer  Ankle  TBC
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

Essendon could ill afford to lose Stringer from its forward line but will be with him missing from anywhere between four to 12 weeks with his syndesmosis injury to his ankle from last week’s win over Collingwood. Daniher is still making progress from his groin injury and joining in more and more training but the club won’t put a date on his return. Ambrose will miss an extended period after suffering a foot injury, but the Bombers will have Zach Merrett back from suspension for their clash with North Melbourne. – Callum Twomey

Fremantle

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Travis Colyer  Migraine  Test
 Reece Conca  Hamstring  TBA
 Brennan Cox  Hip  Test
 Nat Fyfe  Hamstring  Test
 Stefan Giro  Ankle  3-4 weeks
 Joel Hamling  Ankle  TBA
 Liam Henry  Knee  Test
 Jesse Hogan  Calf  2-3 weeks
 Griffin Logue  Toe  TBA
 Alex Pearce  Ankle  TBA
 Sam Switkowski  Back  TBA
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

There’s mixed news on the injury front for the Dockers after their first win of the season. FyfeCoxColyer and Henry are all tests for Saturday’s clash with St Kilda, while Conca (hamstring), Hogan (calf) and Logue (toe) suffered injuries against Adelaide. Conca’s hamstring concern is on the minor end of the scale, while Hogan complained of calf tightness at quarter-time and played out the game, with scans revealing a soleus strain which will keep him out for at least a fortnight. Logue arguably played his best game in purple but is unlikely for the Saints clash after he wrenched his big toe joint. – Chris Correia

Geelong Cats

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Tom Atkins  Ribs  1-2 weeks
 Oscar Brownless  Shoulder  TBC
 Josh Jenkins  Back  1-2 weeks
 Stefan Okunbor  Achilles  Indefinite
 Rhys Stanley  Knee  1-2 weeks
 Tom Stewart  Shoulder  4-6 weeks
 Jake Tarca  Quad  TBC
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

Atkins has been ruled out again as he deals with bruised ribs. Stanley has increased his running loads and will be a slim chance for next week, while Stewart has started light running after surgery. Jenkins has flown with the team and remains a couple of weeks away from re-joining match practice. – Mitch Cleary

Gold Coast Suns

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 George Horlin-Smith  Foot  4 weeks
 Mitch Riordan  Knee  Season
 Matt Rowell  Shoulder  Indefinite
 Rory Thompson  Knee  4 weeks
 Luke Towey  Eye  Indefinite
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

Surgery means first-year sensation Rowell is set to miss the next three months after he dislocated his shoulder against the Cats in the first term and finished with his right arm in a sling. The Suns otherwise have a relatively fit list. – Callum Twomey

GWS Giants

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Isaac Cumming  Hamstring  10-12 weeks
 Tom Hutcheson  Hamstring  1-2 weels
 Sam Reid  Calf  3 weeks
 Tim Taranto  Shoulder  1-2 weeks
 Callan Ward  Soreness  Test
 Zac Williams  Hamstring  4 weeks
Updated: Monday, July 6

Early prognosis

Ward was withdrawn before the game with soreness as he continues to pick up to the rigours of the game after missing 15 months after his knee reconstruction last year. The former co-captain faces a test this week. Taranto is edging even closer to a return to the field from his shoulder reconstruction. – Callum Twomey

Hawthorn

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
Luke Breust  Fractured jaw  3-4 weeks
 Will Golds  Knee  Season
 Dan Howe  Foot  Indefinite
 Jarman Impey  Knee  2 weeks
 Changkuoth Jiath  Hamstring  Test
 Mitch Lewis  Hamstring  TBC
 Jack Scrimshaw  Foot  TBC
 Mathew Walker  Ankle  Test
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

Sunday night’s loss to the Giants was compounded by mid-game injuries to young pair Scrimshaw and Lewis. At least Jon Patton (foot) will be good to go as a like-for-like replacement for Lewis. Outside of Patton, there won’t be any other injury relief this week from senior regulars such as Brest and Impey– Marc McGowan

Melbourne

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Marty Hore  Quad/Toe  Indefinite
 Kade Kolodjashnij  Concussion  Indefinite
 Harry Petty  Groin  Indefinite
 Aaron Nietschke  Knee  Season
 Charlie Spargo  Ankle  Test
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

It was another rough week for the Demons but it certainly didn’t owe to injuries. They have one of the healthiest lists of any club, with none of the players out being first-choice options. Melbourne came through unscathed again from the loss to Richmond, although Spargo rolled his right ankle in the reserves scratch game. The small forward is wearing a moonboot at training – Marc McGowan

North Melbourne

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Charlie Comben  Back/Knee  TBC
 Ben Cunnington  Back  Test
 Luke Davies-Uniacke  Groin  Test
 Taylor Garner  Hamstring  3-4 weeks
 Shaun Higgins  Knee  Test
 Ben Jacobs  Head/neck  TBC
 Nick Larkey  Foot  Test
 Flynn Perez  Knee  TBC
 Tarryn Thomas  Concussion  Test
 Dom Tyson  Calf  1-2 weeks
Ed Vickers-Willis  Turf toe  2 weeks
 Jack Ziebell  Hamstring  Test
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

The Roos have a big decision to make on what to do with Cunnington, who was sluggish in his return from two weeks out on Saturday and also suffered another knock to his sore back. He is dealing with referred pain down his leg as well. Higgins and Thomas suffered fresh injuries at the weekend, so they will need to prove their fitness. Ziebell wanted to try and play last week and will push hard to return. Kayne Turner played limited minutes in a reserves scratch match in his return from a pre-season foot injury. Larkey and Davies-Uniacke could do the same this weekend.  – Marc McGowan

Port Adelaide

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Ryan Burton  Knee  Test
 Willem Drew  Foot  2-4 weeks
 Xavier Duursma  Hamstring  1-2 weeks
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

The Power were close to regaining Burton from a sprained knee last week but opted to take a cautious approach to his recovery. He should be available for Sunday’s clash with the Giants. Duursma is probably another fortnight away from returning from a hamstring problem. – Riley Beveridge

Richmond

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 David Astbury  Knee  4-5 weeks
 Trent Cotchin  Hamstring  1-3 weeks
 Noah Cumberland  ACL  Season
 Shane Edwards  Personal  5 weeks
 Bachar Houli  Personal  5 weeks
 Tom Lynch  Hand  Test
 Will Martyn  Foot  2-4 weeks
 Toby Nankervis  Ankle  4-8 weeks
 Bigoa Nyuon  Shoulder  3-5 weeks
 Dion Prestia  Ankle  4-8 weeks
Updated: Monday, July 6

Early prognosis

Prestia and Nankervis underwent surgery on Monday after suffering syndesmosis injuries in the win over Melbourne. Lynch also had surgery on his hand, but remains a chance to face the Swans. Cotchin will miss at least one match with a minor hamstring strain, while Edwards and Houli opted to stay home with their families rather than enter the hub. – Ben Sutton

St Kilda

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
Luke Dunstan  Pectoral muscle  8-12 weeks
 Dan Hannebery  Hamstring  3 weeks
 Zak Jones  Hamstring  Test
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

Hannebery has joined teammates in the Noosa hub but will miss at least three weeks after scans confirmed a hamstring strain. Given his history with soft tissue complaints, it could be even longer. Jones is likely to play this week after missing with hamstring tightness. – Mitch Cleary

Sydney Swans

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Joel Amartey  Hamstring  TBC
 Kaiden Brand  Ankle  Test
 Lance Franklin  Hamstring  TBC
 Michael Knoll  Knee  2-4 weeks
 Lewis Meliucan  Groin  2 weeks
 Tom McCartin  Concussion  1 week
 Sam Naismith  Knee  Season
 Sam Reid  Calf  1 week
 Ben Ronke  Back  TBC
 Callum Sinclair  Knee  1 week
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

There are a few fresh injuries here, but at least Brand should be right to go, especially with fellow key defender Melican injured again. Sinclair is doubtful as the Swans treat cautiously the bone bruising in his left knee, while coach John Longmire has already ruled out McCartin, who was still suffering some concussion symptoms at the weekend. Reid continues to train and is edging closer, but his return won’t be until at least next week. Scans revealed a stress reaction in Ronke‘s lower back, so it remains to be seen how long he will be out. Amartey has suffered another hamstring setback. – Marc McGowan

West Coast Eagles

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Jarrod Brander  Hip/back  Test
 Mark Hutchings  Knee  2-3 weeks
 Jamaine Jones  Hamstring  2-3 weeks
 Mitch O’Neill  Back  Indefinite
 Luke Shuey  Hamstring  1-2 weeks
 Daniel Venables  Concussion  Season
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

Scans confirmed a low-grade strain for Shuey that will rule him out for at least one week, however the Eagles are hopeful he’ll be fit for the round seven Derby. Jones’ setback will likely cost him one week extra. Brander missed the win over Sydney and will be assessed at main training this week Hutchings is edging towards main training, while O’Neill will re-join teammates when they return to Perth after he spent recent months at home in Tasmania. – Mitch Cleary

Western Bulldogs

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Josh Dunkley  Ankle  4-6 weeks
 Taylor Duryea  Quad  4-6 weeks
 Riley Garcia  Knee  Indefinite
 Lin Jong  Ankle  6-8 weeks
 Sam Lloyd  Collarbone  2-4 weeks
 Aaron Naughton  Ankle  5-7 weeks
 Bailey Smith  Concussion  Test
 Laitham Vandermeer  Concussion  Test
Updated: Tuesday, July 7

Early prognosis

Jong cannot get any continuity after picking up yet another injury. He’s the third Bulldog to go down in as many weeks with syndesmosis. Smith and Vandermeer will be touch and go after being concussed in round five, but the Bulldogs have been very cautious with how they manage that in recent times. Duryea was meant to be only a couple of weeks away but has encountered a setback. Lachie Hunter is available to play following his four-week suspension. The Bulldogs have brought their full list to Queensland so they’ll have plenty of calls to make. – Jourdan Canil
