MJ’s Captaincy Candidates – R12

Written by MJ on June 19 2015

Harbour Heroes jumps in to deliver his top 5 picks for the captaincy this week. Thanks mate!

1) Deledio. Richmondโ€™s resurgence has had a lot to do with Deledioโ€™s return, and with 3 scores of 130+ in his last 4 games. Last weeks victory over Freo saw a reduced score, but that is hardly to be a surprise to anyone. He probably has the edge on Priddis (and Dusty) in their matchup, but all three are worthy candidates.

2 & 3) Ebert and Gray. A weak Carlton lineup give two of our places to Port Adelaide this week. Ebert is the Mr Consistent, regularly pumping out 120โ€™s and a safe option making an excellent captain option, while Gray promises the potential of a 150+ ceiling at a risk, given his recent poorer form, reduced in my mind to VC fodder.

4) Goldstein. Probably *THE* captain option of the round, with 134 last week and up against a Mummy free GWS. The only thing that will stop him going big this week is a dodgy vindaloo.

5) Beams. 6 tons on the trot with 144 and 127 his last two, Beams has been the shining light in an insipid Brisbane side. While the doggies have successfully tagged out a few teams this year, regular tag magnets of Rich and Hanley are likely to wear the attention, as history has shown neither capable of shaking off the tag from a wet paper bag. The return of a number of Brisbane players may even help the Beams cause.

Sloane was traded in by the truckload this week, with no doubt many slapping the VC on his debut.

  1. Lewis, right wasted my VC
In the weeks I’ve had him, I think it’s been 2 out suspended, 1 out injured, 2 scores of 50-60 and a couple of low tons.
    Not impressed

  2. I have Sloane and have voted yes to keeping him as vice. If I were to go with some one else I would go Gray or goldy. Would anyone like to help and predict these 2 players scores?

  3. Went with Hodge, sticking with Hodge. Goldy will probably smash it up against the Mumfordless Giants, but it’s just not worth the risk for what might be only an extra 20 points.

  4. Goldy vs Lobb. Simply have to have him in the equation either as vc or c. For me I’m going Gray into Goldy. It’ll be a quick decision Saturday arvo with the games so close.

  5. Mine’s Ebert into Goldy.

Quite a few would have already used their vc punt as Danger, Sloane, Mitchell and Hodge should have been popular options.

My top 5 options remaining are as follows:

    1) Deledio. Richmond’s resurgence has had a lot to do with Deledio’s return, and with 3 scores of 130+ in his last 4 games. Last weeks victory over Freo saw a reduced score, but that is hardly to be a surprise to anyone. 6. Sloane ( VC ) at 117 is quite tempting IMO, although Goldstein would be my other selection due to Mummy not playing.

    Gray / Carrazzo/Curnow tag
    Beams / Picken tag
    Selwood / Vince tag

In potentially a low scoring round, this ( C ) decision looms as one of the hardest so far for me in 2015. 250 from my ( C ) has always been my break even, but without Gazza, Fyfe or Pendles playing 234 from my (C) is sounding more & more acceptable!

  7. I’ve gone Mitchell VC into Captain Goldy,
I just think that the Giants are ripe for the picking this week with out Mummy and Goldy should get a lot of hitouts to adv…
Mitchell only scoring 94 means there is no doubt that I’ll be using the C elsewhere.

  8. currently have the vc on grey and c on selwood. thinking of giving the c to goldy but got this feeling selwood will clean up against Melbourne.
