Motts Movers R8, 2013 – The Mids

Premiums

Josh P Kennedy ($598,000, 122, 63) – Third most points in SC right now and has been on a bit of a tear lately. Last 4 rounds: 109, 102, 143, and 151. He’s relatively cheap at the moment but his last 4 games of the regular season (ie SC Finals) are against Collingwood, St Kilda, Geelong and Hawthorn. Check out how he goes against The Pies this Friday night but the other 3 he’s already played against this year. Results have been Saints (109), Geelong (80!) and Hawthorn (who he loves, a respectable 143).

Scott Thompson ($547,000, 108.62, 94) – $547k for Scotty Dog at a $44k discount to his year starting price and 3 tons on the trot? I think MJ has some explaining to do as to why Thommo couldn’t make this week’s Fallen Premiums!

Scott Pendlebury ($643,500, 127.62, 170) – Pendles is a champion so despite a meagre 96 against Freo 2 weeks ago and his subsequent 170 BE this week, I’m still calling him out as a Mover. Give him serious thought next week though because once Sydney is out the way this week he faces Brisbane, Melbourne and the Dogs prior to his R13 bye.

Midpricers

David Mundy ($490,000, 99.5, 87) – Previous gun who’s scores have been a little variable this year (had a low of 63 against Richmond in R5) but over the last three he’s averaged 107.33 with 3 tons on the trot. Has a great SC Finals run: GWS, Melbourne, Port and The Saints.

David Mackay ($406,300, 78.12, 14) – I can hear a lot of you now: “Who?” Macca plays for The Cows and to start the year he wasn’t playing that flash: 64, 66, 64, 53 were his first 4 games for the year. He dropped to $342k and then started drinking from the same water bottle that Brandon Ellis has been sucking his drinks from because since R6 he’s gone for 95, 93 and 136. Bang! He’s now worth pretty much what you could have bought him for at the beginning of the year.

Robbie Gray ($353,100, 70.6, 32) – Took the vest in his first game so only scored 17 but since then has notched up scores of 73, 85 and 75 to increase his price $50k. We all know $350k is still a bloody good price for a bloke of Gray’s calibre if he can stay on the park so give him some thought whydontcha.

Rookies

Jonathon Simpkin ($209,600, 86) – He’s a little over Big Sexy’s $200k cutoff point so I’m going to draw your attention to him. I also think BS is a little pissed that he moved on from Geelong after only one year to go play for those “stinkin’ Hawks”. Anyway, played 2 games in the vest for scores of 38 and 21 before being allowed to run free for a full game. In that game against The Giants he managed 86. Only went up $11k. Make sure he gets named before jumping on.

Jaryd Cachia ($159,900, 55.33, -48) – As you’d expect, I’ve been keeping an eye on this Blue Bagger and I like what I’ve seen. Works hard, makes good decisions and disposes of it pretty well. Vested in his first 2 games like Simmo, he scored 25 and 61 (this was the Saints game where he came on early after Ellard tore a ‘string), given a full opportunity against Port last week he went for 80 and rose $42k. I reckon Mick likes him and with Ellard and Yarran out for awhile his short term JS is pretty assured.

Jesse Lonergan ($190,100, 66.33, -39) – This kid has some pretty big raps on him right now and after a 105 in his third game against The Dogs on the weekend has already jumped $50k so this is just about your last chance to get on him before the JL Ship sails off into the sunset.

  1. G’day guys. Just back from uk and a bit out of touch and need some advice. I want Jobe Watson. In my mids I only have o’meara who isn’t a premium. My only way to get Jobe is to trade o’meara. Is it a good or bad idea. Surely o’meara has served his cash cow purpose and unsure if trading him to Watson is advisable. Thanks guys!

  2. Had my eye on JPK for two weeks now but had two many Port rookies to downgrade, may pick him up after the bye (IF he is affordable).

  3. Also wanted to give a big shout out to young Jaeger … been massive in the midfield for the last three weeks in particular. Even outscored some of my so-called premiums.

  4. I brought in Cachia last week , was a last minute trade very happy with his game on weekend. I am a blues supporter so still not sure about his JS especially once Crazzo is back as they play a similar game.
