Movers & Shakers – Round 4

Written by The Salamander on July 2 2020

Player (Other Position) (Club, Price, Average, Three-round Average)

DEFENDERS

Sam Docherty (CARL, $541,200, 129.3, 133.3)

As a Carlton supporter, it’s been great to see our co-captain back out on the ground after two years out of hte game. As a SuperCoach, I’m not sure what else to say except I hope you started him!

Shannon Hurn (WCE, $528,600, 100, 82.7)

The West Coast players don’t particularly seem to be enjoying hub life on the Gold Coast, and the Balding Eagle is no exception. With his 152 from round 1 now out of his three-round average, it may be worth keeping an eye on his form over the next few weeks.

MIDFIELDERS

Lachie Neale (BL, $763,800, 160.3, 161.3)

Whilst I doubt he can average 160 for the whole season, even in this most unusual of years, those who started Neale this year have been handsomely rewarded over the opening four rounds, leaving the rest of us wondering if it might just be worth spending the money to get him in.

Josh Kelly (GWS, $595,200, 103.7, 103.7)

A 120 on the weekend was definitely a step in the right direction, but so far Kelly has failed to deliver for those who paid big money to have him in their starting lineups.

RUCKS

Todd Goldstein (NMFC, $696,400, 141.8, 143.7)

Goldstein appears to have recaptured his 2015 All-Australian form over the first four rounds of the season, posting two 150+ scores in the last four weeks, whilst pumping out a 116 and 136 in the other two games.

Rowan Marshall (STK, $515,000, 99, 89.3)

Like most ruckmen, Marshall doesn’t seem to particularly enjoy sharing the role – the arrival of Ryder over the off-season is clearly having an effect on his SuperCoach output.

FORWARDS

Michael Walters (FRE, $602,300, 120, 123.3)

113. 109. 148. 110. And now Adelaide this week – it’s clearly a good time to be a Walters owner. He did start last year in similar fashion before dropping off a little bit, so it remains to be seen just how well he can keep this scoring up.

Isaac Heeney (SYD, $508,300, 99.8, 82.3)

It’s been an up-and-down season for Heeney, with two of his last three outings being of the down variety. Spending more time forward is doubtlessly hurting his output, but his two other scores this year have both been excellent (152 and 123), so he could prove to be an astute pickup if his price dips down into the mid-400s.

  1. Two movers that surprised a little for me are Parker and Duncan.
Both seem to have a bigger role, Parker not playing up forward as much and Kelly not there for Geelong.

    1. Duncan hasn’t attended a centre bounce this season I don’t think, he’s Geelong best kick by a mile & they look to use him.

Parfitt has back to back tons off low TOG & mainly based around his tackling, he’s pretty locked into that mid rotation now if you’re feeling funky.

  2. Am I making a huge mistake trading Howe to Ridley? Money is going to be hard to come by this season but am I trading in a player who will eventually avg 70-80 at best?

    1. The big debate is what his role will be when the Irishman comes back into the side. Last year his numbers dropped off considerably when McKenna played.

    2. I have the option to bring him or maynard in and went with the Riddler for a couple of reasons.

He’s going to increase in value – so bank the money you save on the DG and UG when he drops.

Dunno what’s going to happen to maynards scoring with Howe out, he might need to play a more accountable role.

  3. Big mover in the Ruck is Witts from GC. Keep an eye on him, currently $535K and in 0.9% of teams, looking at him for a potential upgrade to the Pitts

    1. He’s always been a good tap ruckman; now he also has a good midfield to palm it down to. My only concern is that his two big scores this year have come against relatively inexperienced rucks, whereas he struggled more against Lycett and Nic Nat. Certainly one to keep an eye on, though.
