The AFL advises the Match Review of the remaining games from Saturday and Sunday of Round 15 have now been completed. The following charges have been laid with one other incident requiring detailed explanation. 

Charges Laid:

Jamie Cripps, West Coast Eagles, has been charged with Striking (Fixed Financial Sanction) James Sicily, Hawthorn, during the fourth quarter of the Round 15 match between Hawthorn and the West Coast Eagles, played at the MCG on Saturday June 29.

In summary he can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as Striking (Fixed Financial Sanction). The incident was classified as a $2500 sanction as a first offence. The player can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea.

Jarrod Witts, Gold Coast SUNS, has been charged with Striking Nick Blakey, Sydney Swans, during the first quarter of the Round 15 match between the Sydney Swans and the Gold Coast SUNS, played at the SCG on Saturday June 29.

In summary he can accept a $2000 sanction with an early plea.

Jade Gresham, St Kilda, has been charged with a third offence of making Careless Contact with an Umpire (Justin Power) during the second quarter of the Round 15 match between St Kilda and Richmond, played at Marvel Stadium on Sunday June 30.

Incidents explained:

Contact between Melbourne’s Christian Salem and Brisbane Lions’ Oscar McInerney from the second quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. The ball is loose in the forward 50 for the Brisbane Lions. Salem and McInerney approach the ball from opposite directions. Salem turns his body and attempts to pick up the ball. High contact is made with McInerney. It was the view of the MRO that Salem was contesting the ball and did not have a realistic alternative way to contest the ball. No further action was taken.
