PlayON – Essendon vs Adelaide #2

Written by Schwarzwalder on March 22 2018

Forget what you know about Supercoach for a second.  Forget about the scoring system.  Forget about disposal efficiency or contested possessions or clangers & clearances.  What matters at PlayON with their brand new AFL Fantasy Games are possessions……..and lots of them!

While the Champions like Dangerfield, Dusty Martin & Tom Mitchell will continue to dominate regardless of the competition, it’s the forgotten possession-getters like Andrew Gaff, Jack Steven, Ollie Wines & Dylan Shiel who become crucial in PlayON Fantasy Games.  I’m reminded of the wise words from a random old guy who was playing water-boy against me (long time ago): ‘Ya can’t get hurt if ya don’t go in’…….completely threw me off my game……well played, old man…..well played 😉   Points system is as follows:

Kick 30

Handball 20

Mark 30

Tackle 40

Free kick for 15

Free kick against -30

Hitout 10

Goal 60

Behind 10

PlayON are the official Fantasy Partner of the NBA and are now branching out into AFL.  There are numerous games available over the weekend at a range of different prices.  Most importantly are the GUARANTEED $2000 Prize Pools available every day over Rd1.  If the game has the maximum of 100 entrants then the payout will be for the Top20 places.  Anything short of that, then you can expect a payout for the Top10.  (You can check out the pay structure under ‘Game Info’).

One thing to keep in mind are the qualifiers for the $100k SuperContest that takes place in August.  You can win a ticket into that (unbelievable) contest across all Rounds of footy in the lead-up.  By signing up through SCT-link, you’ll also receive a free $22 entry ticket when you deposit $20 or more.  You’re welcome 😉  Now, continuing on with the big Friday night game………

Star: Sam Jacobs (ADE), $15.1M – One of the most prolific Ruckmen in the AFL, Jacobs averaged 40 hitouts per match in 2017.  Uses his mobility to advantage as well and can gather 15-20 disposals on a good day.  Would expect Jacobs to outscore Bellchambers by a fair margin.

Smokey: Tom Bellchambers (ESS), $13.5M – Had a couple of good days against weaker opposition late in 2017 which has inflated his starting Supercoach price.  Doesn’t collect disposals around the ground as much as Jacobs.  That’ll probably make the difference between the two Ruckmen here.

Don’t Touch: Shaun McKernan (ESS), $9.8M – Hasn’t played much senior footy across his career, very hard to spend that much cash on him.

Star: Devon Smith (ESS), $13.3M – New recruit for the Bombers over the off-season and has promised a bit with his form over the pre-season.  Classy finisher who should appreciate more midfield time.  Really keen to see how he fits into the side at Windy Hill.

Smokey: Jake Stringer (ESS), $10.2M – Another big name recruit over the trade period, ‘The Package’ promises plenty but can go missing for periods of time.  If he can assert himself on the contest then the sky is the limit.

Don’t Touch: Orazio Fantasia (ESS), $11.7M – Has been ruled out with injury, use the $11.7M elsewhere!

COMING ON SATURDAY: $2000 GUARANTEED Prize Pool stretches across all four Matches.  Review is on the way………..
