Poll – Losing My Witts

Written by Schwarzwalder on August 2 2017

If you started with Witts and Sandilands in the Ruck this season, then you nailed one of the critical tactics for the year.  At just $217k after his limited opportunities at Collingwood, Witts has played every game for a decent 94.3 avg in 2017.

Unfortunately he’s now been struck down with a shoulder injury that is classed as ‘1-2 weeks’ by the medical team on the Gold Coast.  With only four weeks of the Supercoach season remaining, is it time to trade Witts out?  Or are you backing him in to miss just the one week?  Or are you out of trades and praying to Superman for a miracle?  Let us know……..

Is now the perfect time to let Witts go?

  1. Only 2 trades left might have to hope Goldy is back and play nank. Fingers crossed only 1 week out 🙁

Other option would be to bring in Gawn but that would leave me with 1 trade and i already think 2 is too low haha…. and this is how the end begins.

  2. It keeps getting better and better.

Confirmed Outs: P Dangerfield, J Witts
Potential Outs: J Kennedy, J Lloyd, G Ablett, M Priddis and T Goldstein
    Potentially 3 donuts.

Looks like I’ll use my last trade on J Witts to M Gawn and start conducting my 2018 research.

  3. Best options without spending cash must be Gawn and Sauce.

Does everyone think Gawn will stay lone ruckman with abit of help from McDonald, and not be joined by Spencer or Pederson?

Pederson was helping out in Gawn’s first 4 games back when he went for 113, 96, 79 & 57. Now his last 2 just with McDonald 108 & 111. I’m not too familiar with Pederson so not sure how many minutes he takes from Gawn those scores might just be due to Gawn finding his feet and tank.

Sauce should stay solo but surely we would expect bigger scores from Gawn if he is solo.

    1. Frankie.

Jessie Hogan will be missing the rest of the season with a collarbone.

This should open up a forward spot for Cam Pederson.

I’m not sure how this will affect Big Maxys output.

I would still expect him to out score Sauce Jacobs.

      1. Thanks mate, seems like Pederson will be occupied up forward then so hopefully just a little chop out when Gawn needs. He seems like a safe bet as long as his little niggles are ok.

        1. I’ve been running with Gawn and Ryder as my Ruck combo for 4/5 weeks now. Gawn was slow to get going ,but has been awesome the last 2.

With Kruezer unlikely to be risked and Mummy coming off an injury I feel
Gawn / Grundy and Ryder are the safest rucks at the moment.

          Congrats on your ranking.

Looks like you might be in for some cash in a few weeks if all goes well.

          1. Thank you, yes I’m hoping to finish strong but never know.

Yeah those guys are all safe bets, I’ve got Ryder up forward who’s been terrific. Stef Martin is my other ruck with Witts and he’s been up and down. Shame Witts is injured I haven’t had a single worry over him all year great consistency. I’m looking like bringing Gawn in rather than covering Witts with Ryder/Nank. I wanna do all I can each week to avoid fielding Nank at the moment.

Goodluck over the last few rounds.

            1. Thanks Frankie.

I’m hoping to push Nank to F7 next week.

But with Greene / lloyd / JPK / Sloane and Jellwood all missing or spudding it up. Nank is one of many problems I have to deal with.

lets hope the SC gods are kind tomorrow when Teams are announced. 🙂

    1. Moonshine.

B.Grundy and S.Martin are the obvious ones.

Personally I would go Big Boy McEvoy.

Seems to very fit this year. He is getting to a lot of contests and taking some big marks. He is also accurate in front of goal when he gets a chance. With the hawks finding some form I think he is worth a look.

Apart from Paddy Ryder he has the best 3 round ave (111.3 ) of any ruck.

He will also be a POD in finals with only 3.5% ownership.

Best of luck whatever you do.

  4. Have both Witts and Kreuzer! Argh. Nank as backup pays off, but still need to replace one. Thinking Witts. Wish Gawn was healthier…..

  5. Only have 1 trade left. Is it worth going

    TU – Witts > Grundy
TD – Keep the trade and play Nank in rucks and pine Witts

    1. In the same boat Mick, I’m playing Nank in the ruck as I think maybe a 30 point loss of points this way is not worth using my last trade when it may be needed next week

  6. Had planned Wingard to Gawn swinging Ryder fwd and Shaw to Doch leaving me with Scharenberg/Ryan back, Witherden/Greenwood mid, Nank fwd as cover. Hadn’t banked on having to use Nank as ruck cover, so do I:

    TU: Go with it.
TD: Find another option that gives more cover.

NB: I have the double chance, so could wait a week on the Doch trade but need to move Wingard for fwd cover.

  7. Had almost locked in Nank to Ryder

But with Witts and missing and Danger and maybe JPK and Lloyd not sure i can afford to trade any one that is actually playing.

    So maybe Witts to Ryder
