  1. Last season, the Doggies big 3 finished: 1st (Macrae), 3rd (Dunkley) & 4th (Bonetempelli) in total points for midfielders.

Is anyone rolling with the big 3 this season?

    1. Main problem I see with the three doggies is that because of the R14 bye you can’t really pick up say Mitchell and J. Kelly until R15…in saying that there are some compelling reasons to pick them

    2. I’m rolling with all 3- plenty of call outs why not to … Like it Hurts in the bye round and if the dogs go bad, so does your mid field.

Upside – the total impact of taggers (like De Boer) to a SC Midfield is reduced if you have 3 players from one team. Only 1 gets tagged at time. Pick Macrae, Danger and Jelly Instead of the 3 dogs and all three are likely to get tagged.

Plus… Dogs on the rise… Probably.

      1. The flipside to that is that Bont will likely cop de Boer twice before his bye. I’m starting the other two and see Bont as an upgrade target for that reason.

  2. Macrae, neale, fyfe, kelly(gws), cripps, Mitchell, dunks. (no order)
Can’t decide between bont, danger, trealor and clarry for the 8th.
Dosnt matter anyhow. They all finish barring injuries within 10-15 points of each other and streets ahead of the rest except grawndy and a couple of bolters.
The byes and tags sort them out.

      1. But he’ll still score well if he plays out the rest. A lot of top scorers miss 1-2 games.

    1. Not for top 8 but I’ll be starting him as value and possibly push top 10 if he finisheds the season as my M7-8 I’d be pretty happy.

    1. He’s a POD for a reason. If 60% owned him, I’d understand picking him as a shield, but there is nothing to say he’ll take a leap this year. He’s far more likely to average the same as last year, therefore won’t be Top8 and starts the year relatively overpriced. All established players do, to an extent.
Sorry if that seems harsh, but it seems you’re being swayed by his Marsh scores. Consistent yes and durable? Very. But his history and all other key indicators say ‘no change’ to me.
Good luck if you go with him. He was in the TECHLeague selection last year and I gotta say was incredibly consistent, but I just think there is an elite group of 5-8 from which to pick your starters and then there is value, eg McCluggage, Walsh types … but each to their own.

      1. That’s a fair assessment AS. I just think he looked in great nick at state of origin & again in the Marsh definitely not one too jump on or off blokes from just one Marsh game if that were the case I’d be on macpherson & off grundy macrae … do you not think kelly will help? I love his consistency and only needs to push his average up by 3pts and that’s a sufficient M7-8 for me with a very cushy fixture all season. If I get cold feet Thursday night he could be cogs by lockout if I need $$

        1. Fair call, but it sounds like Kelly may end up being pushed forward more in 2020. Simpson said yesterday.
Rather than writing another essay, can I suggest reading BEN’s TEAM REVEAL that was posted this morning, he sums up my thoughts on MID picks perfectly. That’s my approach.
