Polling Station Rd21

Written by Schwarzwalder on August 5 2019

What to do with Lycett?  Which FWDs could score well over the next three weeks?  Use Sicily as a loophole option down back?

If there are any polls you want to see at SCT this week, enter them into the comments and we’ll try fitting them into the schedule.  Fire away, Coaches!

  1. More trades…..more cash in bank….premiums being bloody premiums and being on the field instead of injured….and premiums scoring like the premiums we were hoping for when we traded them in.

Not asking for too much am I 🙂

    1. I really like this as an idea for a thread. Agree on the importance of a R3/F8 super cheap dud rookie, preferably from WCE or Freo.

      1. Two years running the Eagles have provided a magnificent non playing r/f c loop. Can anyone remember the dude from 2018 ?

          1. Dan Currie from many moons ago at GC played a similar role. Really testing my SC memory bank here. Any others??

    2. Not far off Joestar, for me I think i’ll be going a no breakout pick option for the first time, just never seems to work for me,

There’s a few injuries blokes, likes Ward, Rance (if he doesn’t get back this season), Doedee, DSmith ect that i’m very interested in what price they are given next year.

      1. Right on, Dann.

I’m really liking the look of Doedee as a starting D3, or D4 if he’s heavily discounted. He was on track a big score in R1 until he went down, 56 SC from 27% TOG.

If he can regain that rebounding back pocket role and come at a cheap enough price, he’ll be a lock for me.

    1. Sorry Willy……I’m away on holiday at the moment. Team went unchanged last week and had Gawn as Captain. Still two trades left. I’ll try getting a post up this week…..

      1. Did we not need to trade this week ?? I assume we were lucky and didn’t get Ryan the previous week.

        1. Because it’s finals and he was omitted. Seems like one of the more obvious trade decisions of the season. You don’t wait and ‘hope’ he comes back.

          1. Not all of us have the trades in hand to be that fickle. 😛

Besides, he’s been one of the best-performing forwards for the last couple of months, and provides ruck cover (which, for many of us, is why he found his way into our teams to start with). If he doesn’t get named this week, I’ll be officially concerned, but I wouldn’t be trading out such a valuable player over a one-week absence (and I certainly wouldn’t characterize the decision to do so as “obvious”).

            1. Have to strongly agree with Sal on this.

I read somewhere on Twitter from a Port fan that Lycett was more ‘rested’ than ‘omitted’ despite the club stating publicly that he was dropped. With Dixon struggling and Ryder not great last week, I’d think he’s a real chance to play this week.

I still have him, two trades left and $260k in the bank.

Besides, I don’t need to win any games this week so will be holding him and making no trades. Will use both trades for hopefully double upgrades (Z Clarke and Setters) before prelims.

If he’s still not playing come Rd22, then sure, but not right now.

              1. Wouldn’t read too much into tweets, AS.

Hinkley said that Ladhams game in the SANFL the week before merited selection and it came at Lycett’s expense because, according to Hinkley, he wasn’t playing well.

He reinforced this point today, saying: “It’s up to him [to be selected] and it’s also probably got a fair bit to do with what Pete [Ladhams] & Paddy [Ryder] do in front of him at the moment if they can continue to perform”. No guarantee he comes back this week.

I personally think it was moronic to drop him in the first place, but Hinkley is uniquely stupid and who knows what he’ll do; especially since Ladhams actually did well over the weekend.

Obviously circumstances dictate whether you can trade him or not (and as owners, you and Sal are biased towards him), but I think fundamentally Daisy is right: you don’t want a premo who runs the risk of being dropped. Not to mention that he won’t be rucking solo anymore and he only put up an 85 v Tigers, who barely have a rucking out-fit.

      1. Polls are handy to generate discussion and consider other alternatives, too. I think Lycett’s worth a discussion this week. No one has all the answers in SC, that’s why we’re on this forum, right?

  3. Can Schwarz or someone email me as I am creating a Supercoach Instagram account and am wondering if I could mention this site and perhaps promote it?

  4. I’d be interested in seeing a list of the:
    – top 3 scoring Backs
    – top 3 scoring Fwds;
    – top 4 scoring mids;
    – top two scoring rucks; and
a poll asking how many of these players people started the season with.

    1. Personally I started with:

      Lloyd, Whitfield, Williams

Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Oliver, Matt Crouch

      Grawndy

      Danger, Heeney, Telly

Pretty close to perfect, replace Heeney with Boak, Oli with Neale early, Crouch with his brother and that’s it.

    2. Whitfield Williams BSmith
      Neale Cripps Oliver MCrouch
      Grundy Gawn
      Dangerfield Heeney Dunkley

First three upgrades (in order): Lloyd(Rd6), Marshall(7) and Fyfe(8) (then Macrae(9)).

Very happy, apart from Whitfield missing SO many games before trading him out. He works out to be the worst starting premo pick because of it!! Might be too injury-prone to start him next year, tho’ if he has DEF/MID status he’ll be difficult to pass up on.
