Polls: Callum Coleman-Jones Replacements

Written by The Salamander on July 7 2021

A lot of coaches are shopping around for CCJ replacements this week.

For those who have very little spare cash, the choices are pretty bare, so I’ve had to be a little flexible with regard to positions. I’ve also left off season averages, since, if you’re picking someone as a keeper at that price, you’re more interested in what they can produce short-term anyway.

I’m not 100% sure when Jesse Hogan is slated to return to senior football, but it should be soon, and he’s an enticing enough option at that price that I thought he should be included.

Best cheap replacement? (Under $350K) – Three Choices

For those with a little more to spend, things are a bit better. First, the rucks:

Best sub-$500K ruck? Three choices.

As to the forwards, I’ve left Dustin Martin off the list, as he’s in over two thirds of teams. My apologies if I’ve missed anyone else.

Best sub-$500K forward? Four choices.

  1. I know this is weird but Mason Wood (STK) is 356k and has a 3rd average of 99.7, as well as having scores of 113, 94, 108 and 97 in his last 5, so for anyone not able to get up to the price of someone like Dale or Marshall he could be a good pick. He seems to be racking up 15-25 touches a game with 5 plus tackles and 5 plus marks over the last few games.

    1. Talk about risky picks! Wood is one for those that like to walk straight into a casino and put everything they own on 1 number at the roulette table.

I’m downgrading CCJ in order to pickup Dunkley in 2-3 weeks.

  2. What about Tom Atkins? $358k and was averaging close to 90 for the first 6 rounds. Maybe he’ll get back to that?

    1. It seems to be when Touhy is not there or played forward / wing that Atkins does well. ( last weekend. )

If you think Touhy stays forward, he may go 85 -88 ?

  3. I currently have Tom Hawkins in for CCJ. Not 100% sold on him. Are there any better options?

    Thanks.

    1. I just crunched the numbers. I have just enough for hawk this week then dunkley when he returns.

  4. Butters from Port is back from injury may be worth a look if you have the $$$ high BE though so will drop in price for a week or two.

  5. I love that Heeney is getting so many votes even after he burnt so many of us just a few weeks ago.

We’re suckers for punishment in Supercoachland!

    1. As that Kylie song goes….can’t get him out of my head. So cheap and has a big ceiling if he snags a few. Great POD if desperate…which I am.

  6. I’m holding out for team announcements before deciding, because I think there’s a strong chance that Poulter gets rested this week, has been quiet for a couple weeks. If Poulter gets dropped, I’d rather trade him than CCJ, cos that allows me to get Danger in by also downgrading Highmore. Trading CCJ means I’d need someone like Marshall/De Goey, but I’d rather be able to get Danger in for Poulter.

  7. Yeah pretty much all of my plans rested on CCJ making it to $350k. I reckon I’m gonna downgrade him to Sharp and hope for the best.
