  1. I would be trading Houston this week, but I feel getting Pittonet and Bennell is more important. Houston’s BE is only 120ish, not incredibly high, so he gets this last game to prove himself.

  2. Houston waiting and seeing, larger fish to fry.

Traded Bont last week (kept Dunkley )

    Brayshaw traded last week

Don’t trust Magnets, especially with Libba back

Pitto in for Nic Nat – couldn’t look past potential Cash Generation

    1. Have Houston and Brayshaw. Giving them one more week as I need to get the right rookies first. Have brought in Cameron and it between:

      T/U Bennell
      T/D Sturt

      What do you think?

      1. This time last year a heap of folks traded out Dunkley after he started quite like Housten. Then he went on a rampage.

I’m not expecting Housten to put up quite those numbers, but he is named in the guts and deserves another chance. As bAps mentioned his B/E is not terrible.
With Wines back it will be interesting to see if his role changes.

If he keeps getting Midfield minutes surely its just a matter of time before he starts producing decent numbers.

    1. If Pittonet averages 90, he’ll make 100K by R5.
      If Cameron averages 75, he’ll make 80K by R5.

So, if you take into account the extra 110K starting price for Pittonet, chances are you’ll end up in front in the short term by going with Cameron.

If you think Cameron will hold his spot (Bucks has generally been good with rookies), then I’d lean that way. However, if you’re playing Pitt at R2, then his extra points definitely tip the scales in his favour.

In short, if Pitt is at R3, you’re probably better off with Cameron, especially given Cavarra won’t be making you any money.

      1. Thanks Matt. Just the sort of empirical analysis I needed. Pittonet would be R3 seeing I’ve got Grundy and Gawn so Cameron looks the best option in those circumstances.

        1. Exactly. Thanks Matt. I pondered this trade but as I have G&G, I went for Cameron. I will sleep better after your analysis. Cheers…..M

          1. Pittonet is playing as a ruckmen whereas Cameron’s playing as a tall fwd / back up ruck. Ruckmen are going bonkers in SC this year so getting another ruck in at R3 to generate cash is a great idea. Tall fwds less so (Jack was in the negatives at half time last night).

            Pittonet at R3 for me.

            1. Having to find the extra $115K for Pittonet is an issue though. People keep comparing him to ROB last year but ROB started at a rookie price of $130k so it made much more sense.

              1. I think it also depends if you’re trading a non-playing rookie like Cavarra or Comben.

If getting Pitt at R3 means you’re holding Comben at F8, then that has to be factored in.

Let’s say Pitt does go nuts, and scores 120 every game until round 5, he’ll make $135K. But you’ve held Comben, who’s made $0.

Alternatively, you get in Cameron for Comben, which allows you to keep Budarick (F8) or Brown (M8). Up to round 5, Cameron goes at 70 and makes $83K, while Brown goes at 50 and makes another $48, which combined is $131K, but you’ve also got the spare 100K from going Cameron over Pitt.

So, if getting Pitt means you’re keeping a non-playing rookie, you’ll probably be worse off, even if Pitt goes bonkers.

                1. Excellent points, Matt. One other difference between the two situations, however, is that if you look beyond round 5, Pittonet still has a lot more money-making potential left in him if he goes properly bonkers.

                  1. Yep, definitely Salamander. Pitt could get to 500K+, and Cameron could get dropped next week.

Currently my focus is on quick cash, given we have two trades per week. I can see people hoping off rookies much quicker than previous years, because there’s nothing to lose.

Keep in mind it took ROB nine price rises to get to 446K (or 200K above Pitt’s starting price). And that was only after he scored 181, on the back of a 104. With a shorter season, I’m not sure we can hold rookies for 8-10 weeks to make them worth while.

                    1. Um….I have a similar funds analysis Matt.
Chose to dump Macrae over Mitchell this week.
Next week atm Mitchell will be going.
Will be looking for another 500-550k low BE high scorer again next week.
                      Mathematics(?)……..this week I took Steele…

                    2. Just coming back here to apologise to anyone who listened to me! I bought in Cameron, so am in the same boat. Hopefully you don’t cop his score with only top 18.

  3. Andrew McGrath $426,200, Mid.
I had him last year expecting more mid time for a Def and got burnt. (Another J.Steele).
This year he has attended the most centre bounces than anyone in Essendon + The 1/3 contested possessions behind Shiel and Zerrett. This is all Positive and a definitive role change.

105.5 average, may end the year around 95-105 average.
Also seems to enjoy his footy. The Only downside is he is Mid only but a nice POD

      1. Would be very, very pickable if he had FWD or DEF status, but as a pure MID, he’s probably about $100K too expensive for my liking.

    1. One of my better starting choices…..this was always going to be his break out year I thought. Plenty of dpp rookies.

    2. Hello Jeannot, watched the game last week and thought he was on his way for 120+ score but was hardly sighted after3/4 time to finish with 98. Thats a worry for me

      1. True, WillysGuns. Parish took over Q4, But McGrath is gradually spending more time on ground. 78%, 84%, That’s a good sign. His fitness is improving, he is young, it will only get better.
With the short season, we may not wait for the rookies to be ripe so jumping early on consistent $500K PODs instead of the uber premiums could be an advantage.

  6. Thinking of giving Nic Nat one last chance against inexperienced lions rucks. Pittonet to r3 move xerri forward. Bring Sturt in for Davis. If he fails again then upgrade him next week along with Houston and put xerri back as r3. Going for league as I captained Mitchell last week and 300 behind the pack now.

    U: good plan
D: get rid, bring in Simpkin and miss Sturt
