Port Adelaide Team Preview 2026

Whenever a new coach takes over there’s uncertainty around a club. What can Josh Carr bring to the table ? Can he resurrect the career of a forgotten man from Freo ? Port have no early Bye and what looks on paper, to be a great early fixture. Time to wave the scarves and sing INXS let’s see what’s up at Port.

The Locks

Zac Butters ( Mid ) $654.800

Back to back 120+ averages make Zac Butters a proven uber Premium. A favorable fixture and a contract year, make him in my mind, very hard to ignore as a starting pick. Currently at 55% ownership, Zac is the highest owned midfielder in the game. Simply a joy to watch and own in SC, I can’t find many reasons to fade Butters this season. Lock him and enjoy the ride.

Connor Rozee ( Def / Mid ) $568.500

Connor Rozee is a little more complicated than his mate Butters. Connor has this annoying habit of picking up  little knocks and various annoying injuries that see him either miss games or be heavily managed. Last season a move to halfback has taken a bit of the risk out of this pick. A bruise free role, with stints in the midfield could be just what Rozee needs to solidify him as proper premium selection. The Defender / Mid DPP certainly helps make him a promising selection. 57% of the comp are happy to put him in their SC sides. There’s an argument for not selecting Rozee, if you think he might get injured again. I think he’s a very safe pick, and the risk is somewhat nullified due to his high ownership.

The Breakout

Miles Bergman ( Def ) $447.400

From very early in the preseason there’s been a heap of talk about Miles Bergman. Will he see the surge in midfield time required to get to thew next level in SC scoring ? I’m personally not so sure. Are guys like Ollie Wines and William Drew still ahead of him ? How does Brodie fit in ? This feels a heap like a Trent Rivers type scenario to me. Promised mid time, that never really turns into a major points spike. At his price tag you are really hoping he breaks out and becomes a keeper. I’m a little risk averse to trust this may happen. Any Port fans that have more faith in this pick, I would really love to hear your thoughts on this.

The Rookie (priced)
Todd Marshall ( Fwd ) $147.900

Don’t we just love a position change in SuperCoach. Unloved Forward moved to defense always sparks my interest, add in a significant discount due to injury and one must take notice. Will he score enough to trust on field is the big question. At close to $150K he is a rather expensive bench option. I will need to see a bit more before I lock him in. His JS ( job security ) seems rock solid atm, so one to keep an eye on.

Will Brodie ( Mid ) $119.900

You need you go all the way back to 2022 to get a feeling for what Bodie can produce. In that year at Fremantle, current head coach at Port Josh Carr was the midfield coach. Brodie played 22 games and averaged 102.4. After a few years in the wilderness at Freo, Will Brodie finally get another chance at Port ? The main problem I see with this pick is, Brodie really is a one trick pony. He’s an inside Mid and not really suited to any other position. Wines is suspended for the first 2 weeks of the season, producing a window for Brodie to play in the senior side. Can he hold down his spot ?  Will he even see a price change ?  I’m torn on this one. If he plays, he should score and make cash.Let me know if you’re willing to take a chance on Brodie this season.

Love to hear your thoughts on Port this season

Thanks for reading

Cheers FT.
