  1. 334 at moment with 3 played but technically 565with 5 played since using vc loophole with gawn and emergency loophole with Hore (unless Joyce gets a call up)

  2. 336/3/Grundy into Danger

Oliver, Gawn and Hore. I swear if Oliver cuts down his clangers and increases his efficiency by just a bit he’ll be scoring 120+.

  3. 425/4/Gawn
Ross Hore Oliver and Gawn all performing well and captain choice already done for the week.
Oliver could have been more efficient but scoring a ton still does the job especially constant butchering of the ball

  4. 271/2/Gawn VC 🙂

Gawn and Hore delivering the goods absolute guns

If everything goes to plan, 2400+ here I come!

  5. I want to use Baker’s 84 on my FWD bench as emergency. I have a loophole option.
Who should I put on the bench out of my F5/F6:

    TU – W. Drew
    TD – J. Darling

    1. Darling is facing a tough cats defence at a narrow kardinia park. He’d need to be at his best to score decently and his form hasn’t been too amazing so far.

      4

  6. 288/3/ Grundy into Cripps.

I wasn’t brave enough to go Gawn into Grundy because of melbourne’s short break.

  7. 532/4 gawn
    Gawn and hore on field.
And I’m looping baker in over darling, looping stack in over gibbons/atkins

  8. 275/3

Played: C Oliver (VC), L Baker and M Hore

Very happy with the new recruits of L Baker and M Hore replacing S Collins and B Scott. Will likely captain B Grundy but N Fyfe and L Neale are also vying for the Captaincy and hopefully I can manage my 6th consecutive 125+ captains score. Kept Darling this week due to prioritising the rookies so it will be very interesting to see how he performs.

  9. 242 / 3 / Neale into Cripps

Hore, Stack & Baker played – very happy with that start from the 3 rookies

  10. 336 from 3….VC Big Maxy…. I kill two birds with one stone by bringing Bines (C again!) into my FWD line meaning I get Bakers score

Total so far: 565 from 4
Great start, long may it continue

  11. 327/4/Gawn VC

Gawn VC will loophole his score and Baker emergency will loophole his score too + Brayshaw & Hore.

Counting loopholes gives me 556. Good start!

  12. 547/5/ Grundy into Cripps

So far: Gawn, Oliver, Hore, Moore and Grundy

    t/u – Take Grundy’s 134 for Captain?
    t/d – Loophole Cripps?

    21

    2
  13. 387/4/Neale into Cripps

I forgot to loophole Gawn when I reversed my trades 5 mins before the bounce last night. Good times!

Anyways, relatively happy, just unfortunate that Crisp was so inefficient, almost 30 touches and only mustered a 79. I still have faith in him for the time being.

    1. You lucky bastard with the accidental C on Gawn lol!

Will admit I was cheering for Gawn to go huge for you sake, FT.

  14. 673/5/Gawn

Crisp a small letdown but happy with this start. The big two rucks really hitting their strides now and likely to set them selves apart from the other rucks

  15. Thoughs on Goldstein to obrien . He is averaging only 10 less than Goldstein. Build a cash war chest of 400k. Let obrien increase in value, then upgrade to grundy in 5-6 weeks time. Thoughts please

    1. I considered this but ended up moving bines fwd under dpp and getting Rob. I still have Goldy as r2 with Gawn. Will get Grundy after his bye, still have c loop, and cash generation.

    2. If you look at Goldstein’s run to the byes, it’s pretty favourable. He should score even better than he has to date and should price-peak at just the right time.
Yes, you’ve missed out on $80k cash growth, but he could still be considered an R3 option who could make an additional $120-150k before his bye, but it’s a risk. Has some tougher match-ups and if Sauce makes a speedy recovery …
I’d definitely hold Goldy. The second decision is your call.
      Good luck whatever you decide.

  16. Interesting, Murray.

Important to note that O’Brien has a tough patch of ruckman to go up against in the next couple weeks, so don’t be devastated if his scores are a touch below these first few.

That said, the points you’ll lose between O’Brien v Goldy will be well accounted for in the long run by bringing in Grundy.

If you’ve got the trades and this is the most effective way you can get Grundy, then yeah go ahead. I like it.

    1

    3
    1. Thanks GD , I think it is worth the risk. The immediate cash of 400k would be used to upgrade to 2 premo, one def and 1 fwd. in 5 weeks time obrien should have peaked and I will find a way to bring in grundy around the bye rounds

  17. 782 with Gawn’s score yet to double up as v/c
Grundy,Oliver pretty decent along with rookies Hore and and Baker, Moore and Stack ok as well though surprised by Crisp’s lowish 79 – had plenty of the ball and I thought he played a decent game with only a couple of clangers/turnovers… maybe his DE was poor?
Still got big guns Cripps, Neale, Danger along with next tier Heeney, Boak, Steele, Cogs and Laird,Walsh and remaining rookies
    So far pretty happy

  18. 437 / 5 / Bines

    Although its really 716 / 6/ Gawn

I’ve got Gawn loopholed and Grundy as an emergency who’s score will be added after the Eagles game late Sunday.

  19. Was going well until Devon Smith’s 35. Thought I’d hold him through his injury last week and could keep him as a POD but think with the knee being iced again – it could be a long season of resting and more time forward with Shiel addition.

Trouble is he’s going to lose heaps this week but would love FWD recommendations. So far looking to Billings

    0
      1. Why will he? He’s playing FWD. Boak’s playing MID and killing it. Port are also doing better than many expected. Of course the kids are the main story but if Port keep winning, nothing’s likely to change in the short-term. Is it?

Boak might just be the best starting pick of the lot! He certainly is to this point.

        1. Hey AS,
if you were me and started with R.Gray at F3 what would you do?
45 last week and 54 this week.
His first 3 weeks he pulled out 91,106,91.

Would it be a good idea to hold for now and look to upgrade to boak after the bye if he continues with his form of the last 2 weeks?

Or just hold him all together even if he continues to pump out 40-60 scores and leave til last upgrade.

  20. Has anyone found it hard to get into Supercoach?
I can’t get in on my phone or laptop and the message is:
You don’t have permission to access “http://myaccount.newssit.com.au/content/error.html?” on this server.

    Any ideas?

    1. Once I logged out I couldn’t log back in due to the error message.
I’m not sure what is going on because last week, when I logged out (to check my tech team), it would loop and automatically log me back in

Went to dinner last night and left computer on, so could see what was on screen when I got home … same with mobile … but when I tried to change it started giving me the message … woke up at 3:30am and same …

still same now, but good to know not just me and that there is a response!

Followed PJ’s wisdom and rebooted the iPad.

See PJs wisdom instructions located somewhere during Port v Nth banter last night.
A bit unusual to me, but it worked.
          Cheers good luck.

    Played: B Grundy (C), D Moore, Z Merrett, C Oliver, L Baker, M Hore, W Drew, X Duursma and T Goldstein.

    Yet to play: L Neale, B Smith, R Sloane, R Laird, I Heeney, Z Williams, L Whitfield, N Fyfe, J Scrimshaw, S Walsh, C Constable, J Darling, P Dangerfield.

      1. Yep. Have not had any worries on website on pc or app on mobile device but both were already logged in. Try emailing SC as in the preseason I had difficulty selecting players for starting squad on mobile device and they fixed it within 24 hours.

On another note I noticed in one of the thread’s yesterday you mentioned you play NRL SC. It’s my debut season with little to no knowledge of the game/players and I’m currently ranked 7671. How are you currently going?

Edit: Just tried refreshing SC as I had it open in another tab and won’t refresh properly and the same issue is present in the App.

        2

        1. Hey Adam – yep had e mailed them twice overnight and this morning – no luck

edit – I’m in!! Its come back up it appears!

NRL – yep, i play both … the three years prior to last year I was in the top 1000 and inside top 500 for two. (they give out key rings) Actually as high as about 50th one year … but as with much of this game, luck plays a massive part … last year I volunteered at Comm Games and the three weeks over that period killed both my SC attempts in both formats – no time to look what was happening or see players in / out etc. I was involved in the management area at Carrara so full on …

This year in NRL I’m about 4000 after a pretty dumb couple of initial rounds with bad trades made fuelled by lack of sleep and a few other probs (operation etc) … but coming back OK now.

There is a good site there like this one that you can watch for help / advice – NRLSCTalk – use that mate! Good luck!!

          1. Thanks. NRL Physio and NRL SC Talk have been 2 of the main resources I have used.

Very happy with my current performance with the only negatives being starting and holding J Friend all season with B Smith replacing him between RD4-RD6 as well as captaining E Marsters (for 29) and J Arrow (sub 50).

            Current team is:
            HOK: J Friend (B Smith)
            FR: A Fifita, M Taupau, (A Tolman, P Haas)
            2RF: J Trbojevic, J Arrow, S Lane, (C Murray, B Nikora, C Waddell)
            HFB: N Cleary, (C Harris-Tavita)
            5/8: K Ponga, (M Morgan)
            CTW: C Gutherson, E Marsters, J Bateman, C Nicoll-Klokstad, (M Sivo, J Okunbor, B Xerri)
            FB: J Tedesco, (C Allan)

Remaining salary of 276,500 with the intention of trading B Smith to R Farah and hopefully bringing in 2 of B Ferguson/V Kikau/S Burgess/ J Taumalolo for B Xerri/C Waddell/J Okunbor/M Sivo before the 1st bye.

Good luck to you as well.

            1. Sh#$e mate! If its your first year and you don’t know the players much – that’s a bloody good side!!

Watch the byes – I probably wouldn’t be worrying about Farah now – massive drop coming up due to last week and his age will be a factor. Smith is killing it and you really want Cook / Smith in your hookers …

the only ones you would want to look at are (unfortunately after last night) Harawera Naira and Martin from the dogs and maybe Klemmer – though he will probably play origin … Turbo when he comes back from injury … but he will take time and may play origin too!

Good luck mate – great squad!

              1

              0
              1. Thanks. The allure with Farah is once the 6 falls out of his price cycle he should be priced around 460,000 to 480,000 which allows B Ferguson to come in for M Sivo and one of the gun 2RF’s for C Waddell.

Had only ever watched a handful of full NRL games so most selections were based on articles from NRL SC talk or advice from SC Scores. With Friend’s injury I’ll likely trade him to a R12 hooker between J Hodgson (Canberra) and W Egan (Penrith).

Had a great AFL SC off-season across 5 competitions
NFL Sportsdeck: 22nd out of 2340
NBA Sportsdeck: 59th out of 3645
Supercoach BBL: 156th out of 89,901
IPL Sportsdeck: 25th out of 1081 with 3 rounds to go
NRL Supercoach: 7671 out of 136,139 1/4 of the way through season.

Hopefully this will translate to some good SC form eventually as I’m currently ranked 24,316 thanks to Darling’s single figure score and entering without any of the BIG 4 (J Lloyd, J Macrae, P Cripps, M Gawn)

                2

                1
                  1. You should have a go at some of the other Supercoach or Sportsdeck competitions as an astute and knowledgeable coach like yourself should perform very well.

Most of the strategies developed in SC are applicable to the other fantasy formats and I find the sports where you have insufficient knowledge are normally the best you perform at due to not possessing any predispositions towards certain players.

We should develop a competition involving the 3 Supercoach formats (AFL, NRL, BBL) as well as involving 2 or 3 of the Sportsdeck competitions (NFL, NBA and EPL) that goes from late August (start of NFL comp) to end of August/start of September (AFL SC ends) determined by overall points across all comps.

  22. 930/8/Grundy (vc)

Looking like some big scores coming this week. Score above includes Grundy double up. Still have the likes of Neale, Cripps and Danger to come but happy to take Grundy’s score this week after wimping out and taking VC off Gawn just before the bounce on Wed night.

  23. Too tired to work mine out with loopholes on ALL lines being used.
Gawn VC with C on Bines. Duursma, Ross and Baker all yet to count from the bench. Looking pretty good I think, as long as Clark isn’t a late IN as it’ll then be too late to bring Scrimshaw off the bench.

  24. 716/7/ VC Gawn,
    Haven’t adjusted Gawn’s score yet,
Projected to get just over 2400, so I think some big scores this round for a lot of coach’s,
but I doubt Libba will hit 140, but most of better my players should go close to equalling or bettering their scores hopefully
    Lloyd 115
    Heeney 96
    Sicily 86
    Danger 111
    Macrae 113
    Walsh 100
    Crippa 140

BTW almost broke every golden rule in supercoach, thought i’d be cute and trade in Hately early and trade out Rozee for cash generation, but all of Wednesday afternoon i had every SCT contributor yelling in my head “trades are gold” and
“don’t be a dick” so I got home had a stiff drink (12 yr old Scotch) and hit the reverse trade button.
So thanks to all the great advice all the coach’s give on this site,
(Rozee 102-Hately Dropped) I still have 27 Trades and no egg on my face, just a mild hangover instead !

  26. 1858/17/Grundy

Projected score of 2338. Cripps, Walsh, Constable and Danger to come. Last decision to make this week is – take Parker’s score of 62 or bring in Petrucelle and hope he can go large again.
    T/U – Parker
    T/D – Petrucelle

  28. 1730 / 17 / Gawn

Struggling this week, Whitfield Heeney and Libba the main culprits. I also stuffed up and had to field Balta after trading away my two other loophole options on Wednesday night. A bit frustrating! Hopefully Hurn and Constable have big games today, they seem to be my remaining PODs.

    1

    1
      1. Dudes ranked 74th. If he says Constable is a POD then you believe it. Keep it up Chillo, goodluck today!

        2

        3
          1. Constable is a POD in 4 out of 10 H2Hs, seems quite a few traded or benched him.

Unfortunately the crystal ball was on the blink this week, otherwise I would have kept Scott or Clark. The bubble boys were all playing on Wed night though, so not much choice there

            2

            0
  29. Need a big Sunday from my remaining rookies. Do I take the 66 from my emergency Collins on my bench by playing Clarke on the field or will Scrimshaw manage a few more points than that?

TU- Better the devil you know, take Collins 66
    TD- Scrimshaw will be better

    10

    3
  30. 1530/16 with Grundy VC’ed

Dangerfield, constable, kelly, miers, walsh and cripps to come.

might muddle my way to 2150~. Which is pretty much my average. I’ll take that.

I’m ranked 20,000. Bloody hard to push into the top 10%.

  31. 1656 / 17 / Grundy

Unmitigated disaster. Only 5 players have tonned up so far. Whitfield, Libba and Macrae killed me last night.

Cripps, Walsh, Scrimshaw, Dangerfield and Constable to come. Hopefully I limp into the 2100s.

Was ranked 286 at the start of the round, hoping this won’t completely kill my ranking…

  32. Very disappointed at myself for the last minute decision last week to bring in Rowan Marshall. Now staring down a big donut.

TU – Trade Atkins to Mitch Lewis (via setterfield)
TD – Hold the trade and cop the donut.

    1. You happy with Steele over all?

all his scores have been between 85 and 115. I’ve been happy with him, hasn’t hurt my team.

      1. Put it this way, I’m not UNhappy. Maybe slightly underwhelmed, but I am expecting (hoping for) some improvement as the season progresses.

        1. Same here. Started with him and was expecting a breakout year. Doesnt kill it even when he tags like last year, but hasnt been crap either. May lift in the second part of the year as coaches think he is superfit.

        1. Oh I have those exact same players sooo yeah, last night was definitely underwhelming.

PJ, in the game thread, knew more about Whitfield’s injury than the bloody radio commentators, who noticed it at the start of the third, when he was standing in the goal square with a massive bandage on it.

  35. 1689/16/Gawn

Projected 2291 and would be stoked with that, but I think it’ll probably be closer to 2250. Can finally rest a little easier about not starting Whitfield, hoping for a fair jump in the rankings.

Cripps, Walsh, Scrimshaw, Kelly, Danger, and Constable to come.

  37. 1764/17/ B Grundy

    Played: C Oliver, M Hore, L Baker, B Grundy, D Moore, Z Merrett, W Drew, T Goldstein, X Duursma, L Neale, R Sloane, R Laird, B Smith, I Heeney, L Whitfield, Z Williams, N Fyfe.

Yet to play: S Walsh, J Scrimshaw, C Constable, P Dangerfield, J Darling

Hopefully the remaining players can help me exceed 2200 as well as J Darling posting a respectable score. Only 3 players currently below 75 (Drew, Whitfield and Heeney) with 5 120+’s (R Laird, Z Williams, N Fyfe, B Grundy, L Neale).

  38. 1548/15/Gawn

Started off well, but Macrae, Heeney and Steele have dragged me down. Got Scrimshaw, Walsh, Cripps, Danger, Constable, Darling and Hurn left to play.

Should be able to crack 2200.

    1. Normally I’d say take Grundy, but it depends on your objectives. Going for overall? Take Grundy. Going for cash Leagues and you’ll lose if you take Grundy’s score, have a punt.
      Good luck!

      1. I’m wondering the same thing about Grundy or Cripps gamble.

        I’m on 1658/ 17 / Grundy at the moment.

        Sitting 84th overall though!

Trying to work out what par will be and if i want to try hold my position or gamble with Cripps captain score and try aim a little higher at the possible cost of 40 – 50 points.

At the moment i’m leaning towards your advice AS, but the idea of Cripps going equal or higher than Grundy is eating at me lol

          1. Thanks! I think i might take a tumble this week unfortunately.

I am projected only 2201 with Cripps, Walsh, Hurn, Danger and Constable to go. So fingers crossed i don’t drop too much!

  39. 1478/15/Cripps

Not a bad round but not awesome.

Still Have Cripps(c), Danger, Dahl, Walsh, Constable, Scrim & Petruccelle

    Projected to get 2259. I do have a question though… I can loop Collins(66) & Parker(61)

    t/u – take the points
t/d – let it roll with Scrim and Petrucelle?
