Punters Club – Duck

Written by Motts on October 18 2013

Duck‘s been studying the form, tracing the speed maps, and looking at the expected track rating and rail placing and come back to me with his nuggets of gold. Here we go:

MR 4 Polanski $5 EW @ Best Tote + 5%
MR 5 She Can Skate $20 W @ Best Tote + 5%
MR 6 Boban and Pinwheel Quinella $10
MR 7 Platelet $5 EW @ Best Tote + 5%
MR 8 Spurtonic $20 W @ Best Tote + 5%

MR 10 – The Caulfield Cup – Hawkspur $15 EW @ Best Tote + 5%

Duck’s also had a nudge at the Premier League throwing $20 at Man U into Arsenal into Chelsea into Everton. That’s paying $3.60.

Hawker reckons its a pretty tough week for betting. Here’s his best bets from around the country. Fortunately, none of them conflict with Duck’s.

AR 5 #3 Star of Zena $15 W @ Best Tote + 5%

BR 4 #7 Sammi Jain $15 W @ Best Tote + 5%

MR 2 #6 Hucklebuck into BR 4 #7 Sammi Jain $10 @ $14

Thanks for getting them in on a Friday night, boys. Means I won’t be rushing around tomorrow morning. All the very best to both of you!

In terms of what I’m liking, a lot of people are talking about Silent Achiever in the Cup tomorrow. I’m not convinced enough yet to back it. For the moment I’ve put $10 EW on Star Fashion in the 3rd.

  1. After the debacle of last week, I’ve got some ground to make up this Round. Here are my Bundesliga tips for the weekend:

** Dortmund and Bayern Munich are both playing at home against weaker opposition (Hannover and Mainz) and should win comfortably. Their odds are far too short (1.20 & 1.10) and its better to look for some value elsewhere.

** Leverkusen (2.00) – They have constantly been in the top third of the Table over the last eight years. But even the most optimistic Leverkusen fan wouldn’t have expected such a great start to the year. Sitting third with 19 points from eight games and coming off a draw with Bayern Munich, they should prove too strong for Hoffenheim (who have the worst defence in the league…..goals against). Take note that this is the FRIDAY night game….get on a.s.a.p!!

** Schalke (1.70) – Not a big Schalke fan to be honest. They just don’t play an attractive style of football……but they get the results. They have played Champions League in six of the last eight years, meaning they have finished in the top three during that time (without having won a Title). Their ladder position at the moment (8th) is a reflection of the club’s long injury list. They haven’t been able to field a full side all year. Huntelaar is out for the first half of the year and new recruit Boateng is struggling with knee problems. Having said that, they will beat Braunschweig this weekend. Like Greuther Fürth (who? you ask……they’re already back in the 2nd League) last season, they may have one or two good days but, all in all, will be relegated at season’s end. Look to young gun Julian Draxler, he’ll make it happen for Schalke.

Value pick for the weekend – Frankfurt vs Nuremberg DRAW (4.00)
Nuremberg haven’t won a game yet this season. Plus they sacked their Trainer after last week’s 0-5 loss against Hamburg. They have drawn in five of their eight games till now. Frankfurt have actually been playing quite well and could be argued that they’re not getting the points they deserve. Frankfurt’s last three games have ended in a draw……..I’m tipping a fourth here. Will most likely be a dour game. Nuremberg will be fired up but its lack of class will see it fall short.

** Other than that, most games are ‘flip of the coin’. Augsburg (2.40) have a good record at home against Wolfsburg, having won the last three duels. (But I wouldn’t put the house on it)

    Good luck!!

  2. Karacatis in Adelaide is a good bet. Happy to sling a couple bonus bets your way if you want to try using our purpose built online punters club management system lads? You might be managing things just fine, but if you want to automate all the money and bet notification stuff Punt Club is a good option. And Famechon in the 4th and She Can Skate in 5th at Caulfield also look the goods!

  3. 2 bets on the soccer and 7 on the horses so i’m hoping you fella’s are tipping well today. The only one I picked out myself is Fawkner in the cup. All the best Duck and Hawker and hope I’ve got a collect or 2 when I get home.

  4. Looking ahead at Cox Plate, anyone looking at taking up the Sportsbet offer of getting your money back on any other horse if AJ wins? I may look at it’s a dundeel at $ 5.50. It had the foot abscess which laid it up for a bit & 5 weeks without a race, but still decent odds for me. Anyone been doing any early work on the race?

Some good tips by Duck above. Got on EW for winner and place for 2nd in big race yesterday. Gradually working towards a new oven for my wife from initial $ 20 SB transfer so unlike SC, researching the GG’s & other sports is deemed a good thing!

  5. Any chance of an early vote on It’s a Dundeel.

Thumbs UP: Top horse, still a Great chance for Cox plate

Thumbs DOWN: Abscess probably screwed it’s prep ahead of AJ & other great horses.

  6. Well Duck pretty much paid back what he punted with. His 2 bets that paid were Polanski which won $31.73 and Spurtonic which won $44.10. Taking into account his initial stakes he returned to the kitty $115.83. Hawker tried valiantly but ultimately in vain.

Next up is everyone’s mate, Deano. Cannot wait to see what he’s got in store for us.

  7. Got a tip for Wednesday from the owner. The trainer said he needed the run last start and is fit enough and expects it to win if not go close. Anyway the horse is Set to Star Wednesday at Geelong race 5 no 16 1400 metres Mertens on board. Placed last three, with a win two runs back.
I am not sure of the odds as sportsbet has not put up market yet.
Hang on he’s just text me again he says not so sure now its against the males. Oh well if it is good odds might still be worth backing each way because it is fit enough just if it is good enough. If it is scratched it will run Thursday or Friday and defintely back it.

  8. Set the Star 10-1 at sportsbet good each way odds.

Just got another tip tonight from a usual reliable source for the Melbourne cup Verema currently 15-1 in future markets.

Also I posted this one last week Ferlax which will be big odds in the MacKinnon.

  9. I was given Tres Bleu for The Cup the other day. Very lightly weighted by the handicapper before it came over and then had a couple of big wins before jumping on the plane.
