R3 Progress Scores

Written by MJ on April 8 2016

One of the most important rounds of the SuperCoach calendar is finally upon us. At the end of this weekend we’ll be hit with the first round of price changes, but not only that, we’re playing our first league matches.

I’m up against Motts in the SCT Writers League and I’m still reeling from the 1 point loss I suffered to SCT’s CEO a season or two ago. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date with how the all-important clash is going.

No doubt you’ve got a few monstrous fixtures ahead of you this week. Let us know how the match is progressing over the next few days.

  1. 0/0/Danger (C) Ablett (VC) no loophole option.

For what it’s worth, I dunno if it was because I had no one other than bench players playing but that was the most boringest game I’ve ever seen. I don’t understand why the AFL didn’t schedule the derby tonight.
TUp would of preferred the Western Derby (that’s west coast vs freo fo you living over East)
TDown Essendon have a huge history and are a ‘big’ club and deserve the Friday night slot! (Yes I know it was Ports home game but regardless we still had to watch Essendon)

    1. AFL fixture was done and dusted well before Essendon players were banned. Bit harsh blaming the afl on that one.

      1. True didn’t think of that. However I don’t think a Port v Ess deserved a Friday night spot considering neither made the eight

  2. 218 Gray and Dea. Pretty happy with that start, as Gray came in for Rocky today.

    T/U Take Grays 123
    T/D Stick with Gazza

      1. Decided ! am going to take the points. Even if Gazza gets 150 you’re only losing 25pts. Knowing my luck he will go down in the first Qtr if I dont. Thank me later SCT’s ๐Ÿ˜›

  3. 188/2 Gaz/Danger

Expected Wines to go large and stuck the VC on him. I’m a little worried about him.

Capt will go to Gaz or Danger, probs Gaz.

    1. Wines was OK – just had something like 20 handballs and 2 kicks. Had a few frees against but plenty of tackles. He’ll come good.

    2. Same score as you with Wines and Dea on the field. Also a little worried about Wines but then I also have H. Shaw and Gawn to worry about too.

      1. I’d be happy for you to open a market on it Twitch. I think Motts has to go into the game as hot favourite ranked 103rd.

    1. Not only am I up against Motts in the Writers League, but another SCT powerhouse in Thommo in my cash league!

      MJ 188/2 v Thommo 266/3

Sam Gray (78) the only POD played for Thommo thus far.

  4. 53/1

Hartley on field over Tippa lost me 18 points, but Tippa’s 71 is still in play for a possible loophole option; which, if taken, will bring my score to 124/2.

  5. 95/1/GAZ Vc/Danger C/ Petracca loophole

TOm Mitchell or Callan Ward to come in for Rocky, which one? Concerned about too many Swans.

  6. In honour of Matty Priddis’s 200th game I’d love to get everyone’s views on who are some of the most underrated players in the AFL. Even though Priddis has won some massive awards, including AA and Brownlow, I still this he is still massively underrated. No one speaks of him in the same sentence as Fyfe/Ablett/Pendles/Buddy. Nic Nats another that cops a lot of criticism but I can’t think of a club that wild to take him. Who from your club is the unsung hero?

  7. In CattasSCTchallenge (115893) league, 1st up head to head match it is just like Easter Monday clash between Cats V Hawks…..i.e. Me (Cats Supporter) going against Catta (Hawks Supporter)……loving it…..hope for thrilling finish….

    My team 1:
    Team Name: TITANS score currently
    95 / Gaz (VC) / Danger (C)….

    My Team 2:
Team Name: GOOD BETTER BEST current score…
95 / Pendles(VC) / Gaz or Danger or Fyfe (C) – not sure on this one yet, at this stage Gaz has got the “C”…

    Cheers,

  8. 218/2 VC Gray / C Gaz

Happy with that start. Dea with a very handy 95 on the park and Gray as the Rocky replacement was great. Still tossing up the VC loophole. I did say yesterday Gray would need 130+, then he was scaled down post-match, so now I’m on the fence. Having said that, Gaz vs Carlton at home with the Suns on the march… Hmmm….

  9. 1527/15/Gaz

Forced to have Davis and Menadue on field – papley was alright from what I hear (played with heart)

    Still hoping for 2200

    1. Tsg, Shaw had Papley well held – 1 point at half time. Came back with 46 in a half. Most definitely a talent.

  10. 1558/15/Ablett (thanks to Rich)
A few players letting my team down ATM.
Hewlett, Lonergan, Mills, Papley (on debut) & Kerridge hurting my score. Lonergan is the only one I’m really dissapointed in though. Needs to lift his game…
Special mention to Shaw, Parker, WEITERING!!! (How good is this kid!!), Hall, Ablett & Priddis! (Nic Nats 114 was solid but only rucked against Barlow;))

  11. MJ: 1419 / 14 / Parker v Motts: 1408 / 14 / Dangerfield

Motts has enjoyed huge performances from Houli, Docherty and Ablett to give him the edge in this one. Our fearless leader looks to be eyeing off a third consecutive 2,300+ score to elevate him deep into the top 100. Top 50 on the cards perhaps?

    MJ: 1419 / 14 / Parker v Thommo: 1670 / 16 / Ablett

Thommo looks to be ahead here. Goldstein, Gawn and Johannisen will need huge games to give me a sniff.

    2

    0
    1. I hope I’m ahead MJ but I think it will come down to whether Gawn and Goldstein negate each other or not. I tried to be different by picking up Dusty instead of Parker this week and immediately regretted that decision – will likely cost me the clash with you!

  12. 1305/14/GAJ.

Well, it’s been a rather poor weekend for me. In SCT Writers, if Macca utilises his available Captaincy and Rookie Loopholes, has a lead of 401, Ben Kennedy and Dangerfield v Martin, Zorko, Bartel and Selwood.

But I cannot be truly disappointed; for, aside from Sinclair, none of my premium selections have failed miserably, which they had been doing in the first two round. Instead, my rookies had an off day, with Hartley, McDonald-Tipungwuti, Papley and Davis on field. Fortunately I was able to avoid Menadue and Hewett; but time will tell if McCarthy would have been a better option than Papley.

On the other side of the coin, I haven’t had a glut of big scores to balance out the low scoring rookies, with Gary Ablett’s 135 top-scoring so far.

I’m well behind the 8-ball going into Sunday, but if I can get 2100, it’ll probably end up being a decent score, seeing as I’ve managed to avoid trading for the first 3 rounds.

    1

    0
    1. 14/1449/GAJ as VC – will become 16/1706 by activating rookie loopholes.

Good match up in SCT Writers Eagling …. even better that you haven’t made any trades mate and I have!

Up against Schwazy in CattasSCTChallenge as well, and think i may have him covered there.

Didn’t pick up Papley in the first three rounds, so will miss out on his skyrocket price increase … but you can’t get them all I guess. Good start to the year all!!

      1. No thinking required……..you’ve got me covered! I am S.T.Ruggling this year. Worst start to a season in five years……

      2. After the thrilling clash in Tasmania, my scores stand at 1555/16/GAJ, trailing by 452 points and Dangerfield versus Selwood, Martin, Bartel and Zorko. Macca looks like he has this one sewn up; only an unlikely 150+ each from my PODS or Danger getting knocked out in the first quarter looks like it will change anything.

  13. 1407/15/ Dangerfield

Only disappointed in mills&papley scores as rookies, have avoided majority of the low rookie scores

Dusty & Sam gray need to lift

Happy I kept Barlow for now as I traded out Gresham for Papley once he was dropped
    Hall great on debut

Wells, Gawn, BKennedy, Johannisen, Liberatore, SMartin & Dangerfield (C) to come, hopefully get 2200+

  14. 1047/11 (including Parker VC)

Carnage. Papley 46, Kerridge 65, Mills and Menadue also poor and on field.

Weitering on the bench hurts too.

Forecast is 1980, with King’s C being a Zero, so should still scrape in around 2200.

  15. 1432 / 15

    Need some advice
T/U Take GAJ as captain and Papley’s 46
T/D Take Dangerfield as captain and put McCarthy on field instead of Papley

    5

    3
  16. 1449/15/Danger still undecided on keeping gazzas score or rolling the dice with Danger. I can’t see Danger dishing up 2 shockers in a row.

    1. Hey Dazz … I’m going with Gazz … money in the bank, so to speak … you never know what might happen (god forbid an injury or something) … so the safety of 135 in the bank is worth more than maybe Danger getting to 150 … only 15 points more …

      2

  17. 1619/Gaz

Still have Gibbo, Libba, Danger, B Kennedy, Wells, Stef Martin & Adams to play. Hewett’s 19 hurts but Weitering’s 129 makes up for it somewhat.

    Hoping for 2250-2300

  18. 1630/Gaz. 15 played
Pretty happy so far, Theres been some mixed scores. I’ve avoided most of the carnage and happy i Barlow for this week…Parker did well on debut for Wognuts as well.

  19. 1402/Ablett/13

Better than last week so far. Hoping to improve on my 23k+ ranking.

Duds so far have been Milera, Mills & Kerridge. But Kerridge is excused for his magnificent output in weeks 1 & 2.

Hopefully de Goey and Barlow will start hitting some form now and won’t needed to go on the chopping block. Wines has been underperforming and regretting not going with Parker instead. But have to hold for now.

Sadly had to part ways with Steele and Rocky.

Very happy with Houli, Hall, Weitering & the Captains’ numbers.

  21. 1209/11/Fyfe

If I wasn’t a numpty.. My plan was to loophole Gaz with Danger but somehow managed to put the (C) on Fyfe. Would have taken Gaz’s 135 so I’m only missing out on 20 points, I have however nailed all right rookies on field this week so I guess you win some and lose some.

Still to play: Gawn, Oliver, Kennedy, Wells, Goldstein, Liberatore, Adams, Robinson, Dangerfield, Bartel and Selwood.

For the 3rd week in a row I’m looking on track for 2,300+ coming into Sundays games but spectacularly my Sunday players spud out and I end up with less than 2,100, so fair warning for those who have the players above!

    0

    1. Know that feeling mate. I look good going in to Sunday games. Last week I was on track for 2400. Ended up 200 short.

  1. Just got home from the game. Was impressed that we didn’t bend over which we’ve done in the last few final quarters. The Pies had their feathers ruffled tonight and that’s enough for me right now. Took the Pies -25.5 as the first leg of my multi so in a sick way I’m kinda satisfied.

Bit unhappy with Swans score as captain, but I guess there are a bunch of people in the same boat. Same goes for Gibbs. Glad I threw Curnow the jersey at the last minute over Harris. This guy is a BALL MAGNET.

  4. 417/4/Swan. Warnock killed me. Happy with Duigan pushing up the $$$ (but warming the bench). Here’s hoping my other big guns can pull out some big numbers.

  5. 446/5/Godds
Happy that my unique in Juddy scored reasonably well, Curnlow on the bench franked his price increase and Diges had a real crack in Q3 to show he has the fortitude to get in amongst the weeds. Unhappy that MM didn’t give Krak some meaningful time in the midfield although obviously most contenders have him as well as Gibbs.
Stoked that the CD boys didn’t fall for Swanny’s last Q garbage possies which will hopefully make his price a nice upgrade target after the Rd 7 bye.
Time to make up some ground this round on the Swan permacaptain leaders.

  6. 507/5/Pendles – Not a happy camper at this stage.
Pendles didn’t do a great deal, Murphy and Gibbs did bugger all. Happy with Krakwhore, happy with Hacksaw Nick Duigan and VERY happy with the “Hacksaw Nick Duigan” reference. Can’t remember which one of you came up with that but it’s gold.

As soon as I traded Curnow in instead of Libba before the game I had that sickening feeling I’d made a big mistake. But the kid was good and obviously uses it well. Swan did a Goddard and squeezed a ton out of an average performance. Judd did his best, Gibbs didn’t. Gonna regret having Duigan on the bench.

  9. Curnow was impressive, one of the best scorers on the ground again. I am wondering now if he is a cow or a keeper. Might be the 2011 Blair?

BTW not much score yet, only have Swan and Krak on field with Swan as captian.

  10. 483/4/Swan
Brought Curnow in but benched him over Libba and Harris. I’m expecting similar scores from them anyway. Fairly happy with the score, but annoyed at my lack of boldness in switching captain from Goddard to Swan last minute.

I’d be interested to know Motts/all view on Bryce Gibbs. This is about the fifth ‘blockbuster’ he’s played in where he just can’t get the ball. And last night when he got it he fumbled, no doubt due to the intense pie pressure.

    Are our expectations too high?

Will he just be a good, not great player?

  13. 483/4/Swan

Dissapointed in Swan’s score, but then again most people either have him or Pendles as el capitano, so no harm done.

Decided last minute against bringing in Curnow (for Bewick). Saved the trade for some tasty down grade targets when Mzungu and friends come back. Short term loss for long-term gain.

In the LoEC, locked in a tough battle with Dragenblade (669/6/Swan).

Going to regret lots of things this week. Gut said Boyd stupid F#@king head said Pendles. Same head also had Hacksaw and Eddie K on the bench. Not out of the running yet but got a shart load of catchup to do.

  15. Glad I jumped on Curonw last night when he wasn’t named as a sub…. Fairly impressed now. Even happier there in no one on blues injury list to force him out…. I smell $400k…. But I prob should have put him on the field.

  16. foley, selwood, montagna and harris better play, as i had liberatore as emg and not curnow, going to go both but ended up going with Markovic as fwd emg, libba mid and duigan def. Should of had hacksaw in instead if maybe otten or lower! DOH!

    Juddy: 112
    Krak: 81
    Swan: 108
    RSVs:
Duigan: 95 or something like that

Pretty happy with where I am at and especially Swan’s reasonably low score for his standards as all of my opponents had Swan as captain.

  17. last night, anyone watching on TV see at about 17.58 (to go) Hacksaw deliberately run one over the bounfary line, Collingwood player takes the free, Hacksaw smothers, goes to ground, 3 players scrambling for it and Hacksaw taps it over the boundary again and awarded another deliberate out of bounds! I was laughing my head off!

Most likely be trading Curnow in regardless of his price rise [Should have traded for Boak!], Nevertheless his rise in price should be good even though i’m a 100k short.

Not so sure about Broughton or Otten anymore, but they might have both had a bad week.

Strange round. All my rooks have been serviceable, my prems are killing me (bar Buddy). With that in mind, i think it’ll be a quiet week at the selection table next week…but we’ll leave that for another forum.

  32. 1332/10/Swan, Bugger, got rid of Everitt, had Curnow and Duigan on the bench, Duigan would have been my second highest scoring backman so far and I left Harris in the midfield for Curnow, solid scores otherwise including tons from Sandi, Buddy and Pav.

absolutely gutted i got rid of not only everitt, but kennedy as well..
score isnt too flash, but with goddard, grimes, riewoldt, ryder, selwood, and heppel yet to play, a reasonably high score isnt out of the question this week.

Im happy but could have been better if i didnt have Conners in my team. Did he get Subbed tonight or is he just crap?? Is there anywhere i can see a list of played Subbed??

Big question is do i get Curnow next week and who i get for Conners after his massive price drop?? anyone has to be better than him. Fair enough it was wet but seriously does anyone have a favourable opinion why i should keep him??

Defence a shambles this week, but not too bad overall with Roo, Grimey, GOD and Tappy to play. In the firing line this week is Otten only.

Might have just snuck ahead of Dragenblade (1635/17/Swan). POD are Grimey (me) vs Heppell/Selwood. Ice men, how are yous travelling?

Traded out JP Kennedy for Gilbee for some DPP flexibility. Still got Godd, Heppell, Riewoldt, Tapscott, Chappers and Bartel so 2200 not out of the question. Already made 4 trades so have to stick with these boys for a bit. Very tight game in one league, he put Cross as Captain which could make the difference.

  45. righto, righto, my “crystal ball” didn’t work out last night, bar the hawks final score, which was a goal or two away from my prediction, buddy’s goals as he kicked 5 and my crystal ball said 6, and Foley finished with 24 touches, and i tipped him to get 26, well, I’ll give it to my brother for today’s Geelong vs Port, and i might do Saints and Dons

  48. Polec showing early signs of being the next band wagon to jump on. 50 SC pts in his debut quarter!

Tapscott returns 1pt for the quarter!! He is human after all!

Consistent with the “Return of the Spud” theme for Rd 3, Mitch Clark looks to have finally woken up. Add him to the list of comebacks; JP Kennedy, Everitt, H Shaw, Yarran (actually 111 not 11 as shown at random times on Fanfooty.), Brennan, Goodes, Foley, Gaff (61 starting sub!), Naitanui,

Continuing with Spud status; Johncock, Jolly, Otten, K Hunt, Bateman, Conca, Helbig, Astbury,

On the downward spiral; Delidio, J Reiwoldt, Newman, Dangerfield, Thomas, Warnock, Gibbs, M Murphy, ROK, Hurn,

Killing it; Hodge, Franklin, Fyfe, Thompson, Mundy, Blair, Boyd, Cross, Higgins, GAJ (Apollo – Sun God), R Murphy, Burgoyne, Cox, Goodes, Bolton!!, Priddis

  54. 2087/19/Swan, 1 day is a long time in footy this time yesterday I was looking down the barrel of a sub 2000.week, then Rockliff and Bartel step up to the plate, Godd/Heppel and St Nick to go

  55. A tough weekend I reckon for many. Managed 1998 and I’ll take it too. I’ve had most of the gun rookies since pre season but every week I’ve gotten which to play and which to leave on pine wrong! Saying that loved Mattner this weekend and my $10 on Hey Jude for brownlow at $101 may be a master stroke. Ps how good was young Ranga Rohan in last quarter for the Swannies, got them over the line I reckon.

  59. 2179/all of them/swan, not too bad considering, won 4 SC leagues and drew the other one and I had a 12 victory over Deano in the Mistress DT league! Not that DT matters anyway.

  60. Backline = FAIL
Choice of captain (Pendles) = FAIL (changed from Boyd at last minute)
Chossing Otten,Libba and Harris over Duigan,Curnow and Swallow = FAIL

Still scoring 2185 but getting beaten in main league by 105pts = EFFING FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’d like to say that Broughton, Grimes & stevie J are in the gun but I don’t trade Premiums unless LTI but I do have to find some way to get Swannie,GAJ,Watson or Bartel into the line up.

  61. 2033

Bad week without my best team on the field (damn last minute trades) and to top it off had my 1st loss, by one point, in my main league. Oh well, must now use the time off over the long break to get the Bender Rovers to hardern the fโ€ขโ€ขโ€ข up!

Does anyone know if often was a sub for the crows yesterday?

  62. 2394/22/Bartel
Did awesome, maybe I will stick woth Foley for another week after all! Halfway through the round just before the Carlton and Richmond match I was already planning on trading him for Hodge or another premium! Bit with 109 on the board, no way am i trading him!
Who to trade? $243,900 in the bank.
Thinking Otten or Knights (who I had both on bench this week) Foley has cemented another week at least.
Arrrghhh, forgot hoe frustrating SuperCoach can be since last year!

  65. Let me in, I wanna start trading!

Are there any backmen (aside from Goddard) that can score 100?

Andy Otten, If I could buy anything for $185K you’d be in trouble.

    Varcoe is a rollercoaster.

Some smart trading over the lon break could

  67. 2081-Swan as captain.
Horror week. Considering dumping Knights and using some extra cash to upgrade. Otten killed me, and expected much bigger from Lids and Gibbs. My defence was miserable, and not having Rioli made it even worse.

Back to the drawing boards this week ๐Ÿ™

  68. 2088 for the second time this year.

Dissapointed with the two players I brought in this week – Newman and Gibbs. They’ll bounce back though. Lids the same. Completey agree with whoever said Goddard will score 700 when he starts playing well!!

Few low scores overall (Tappy, Harris, Otten) with points sitting on the bench (Darling, Heppell, Duigan), but won 3 of 4 leagues. Well done Davo in SCT1.

  69. 2186 with swan captain and spuds of the likes of mckernan, deledio and knights to name a few..
have a couple of trade dilemmas.
    – who to swap simon buckley for?
    – is there still value in putting in curnow of tapscott? (decided to jsut opt with liba.. stupid me!)
    – Knights for tapscott as a potential trade? who will go up more?
    – Gaff for Curnow as a trade? curnow can still skyrocket.. right?

  70. 2,082. Disappointing, but I still managed to win 2 of 4 leagues. Had Cox as captain, but made some terrible bench decisions, like Foley and Duigan. Even managed to only select 2 emergencies (luckily all backman played).

1 huge question on Johncock. Terrible scores, and I’m really not sure whether to hold or trade. What do people think? A 41 and 71 for average of 56.

On another note, Motts, I won’t rub it in. I’ll take it as a lucky win. But I do have to make mention of your choice to trade Everitt for Newman. To put it bluntly, if you had of saved a trade, you would’ve won! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  72. don’t think I’m stupid, but i think anyone with Matt Pavlich in their team should put him captain, 20 touches 7 marks 2 tackles and 4 goals 2 in round 10 last year against North Melbourne, which was at Subiaco.

  73. Alternatively TC you can put Swan captain as a long shot. He scored a respectable 190 last year against the Tiggers…
