North Melbourne (4.10.34) defeated by West Coast (7.7.49)

Multiple Goal Kickers

North Melbourne: Zilch

West Coast: Allen (3), Ryan (2)

  1. Jed Anderson (174). Has had a career best year this year, ultimately finishing with a 105 point average. Finished the year with the highest score of his career courtesy of 30 touches (12 contested), 5 clearances, 1 goal, 499 metres gained and only the one clanger.
  2. Jy Simpkin (144). A season average of just 93 is disappointing considering how he started the season, but this career high score the finish the year was a welcome sight. Had a huge 32 disposals and 5 tackles to be one of Norths best.
  3. Shannon Hurn (138). The Eagles most experienced player finished the year on a high, recording 23 disposals, 4 tackles and a game high 576 metres gained. Also ran at a very good 91% DE. Following on fro that, Hurn finished the 2020 season with the best DE of anyone who has played more than five games, running at 87.78%.
  4. Luke McDonald (131). Has averaged 118 in the past 10 rounds of footy to finish with a career best average of 95, a jump of 35 points from last year! Playing off the half-back flank, he recorded 28 possessions while running at 78% with his disposals.
  5. Jared Polec (127). Rounding out Thursday nights game was North’s silky left-footer, who ran hard all night to finish with 25 touches (20 kicks) and, once again, a solid DE of 80%.

Other notable scorers: After these scores came a pair of 122’s from a couple of Eagles. Nic Naitanui finished the year with an average of 110, his best return since 2012, with his final score coming courtesy of 13 touches (10 contested), 5 tackles, 5 clearances and 24 hitouts, while the other player was young Eagles ruck/forward Oscar Allen, who kicked 3 goals from 10 touches. Jackson Nelson (103) has taken his game to new heights in 2020 to be a regular in the Eagles fairly experienced backline, finishing his regular season with his fourth triple figure score thanks to 22 disposals and 549 metres gained, which left only Liam Ryan (100) as the final triple figure scorer, his 2 goals and 15 disposals resulting in his fourth ton in a row. Backline duo Liam Duggan (97) and Brad Sheppard (92) were joined in the 90’s club by North’s big ruckman Goldstein (18 disposals, 20 hitouts), midfielder Dumont (22 touches, 4 tackles) and 2021 breakout contender Davies-Uniacke (24 disposals, 11 contested). It doesn’t matter now but Luke Foley (34) played his first game to gather 3 touches, while the Eagles added another injury to their extensive list, with spearhead Josh Kennedy suffering an ankle issue, its been rotten luck for them on the injury front lately.

Disappointment: Tim Kelly (72) had a big last quarter but his first regular season as an Eagle has been down on his lofty Supercoach standards, going below 80 seven times throughout this difficult year.

St Kilda (12.10.82) defeated GWS (3.12.30)

Multiple Goal Kickers:

St Kilda: Steele, Lonie (2)

GWS: Zilch

  1. Jack Steele (149). His magnificent season finished with an average of 122 thanks to his tenth score above 120. Kicked 2 magnificent goals against his old club from 18 disposals (14 contested), while also laying 7 tackles and having 10 clearances.
  2. Lachie Whitfield (120). Take away his injury score of 8 and his season average was 110, just about the same as last year. Whitfield put in a 28 touch, 13 mark, 467 gained metre performance for grand final week.
  3. Rowan Marshall (118). The Saints ruckman-turned-forward had another outstanding game, hauling in 7 marks, having 18 touches and kicking 1 goal to finish his season on a high.
  4. Stephen Coniglio (115). The recalled Giants skipper returned in solid fashion, picking up 23 touches (10 contested) with 6 marks and a couple of clearances to finish off his season nicely.
  5. Daniel Butler (111). Talking about nice seasons, Butler finished the year with 27 goals, this week adding just 1 goal to his total from 11 touches, 9 of which were contested. Didn’t finish the year as a premium liked we hoped but has been a great first year in Saints colours.

Other notable scorers: Only a couple more Giants ventured into triple figures here. Josh Kelly (109) topped off his season with his tenth ton through fourteen games, having 18 disposals and 4 clearances, while defender Keeffe (101) had 14 touches and 6 marks playing a key defensive role. Numerous players from both sides finished in the 90’s, including the 5 touch, 29 hitout game of Ryder, Billings’s 12 touch, 1 goal game, while for the Giants it was the late in of Cumming (16 touches, 8 marks) performing well, then forward Lloyd (17 touches, 1 goal) and finally in and under midfielder Hopper (18 disposals, 4 tackles). Not too much more from this game really, because debuts and second games don’t mean much as the Supercoach season is over, but Jack Buckley (29) looks like a solid player.

Disappointment: It’s been a great year if you were a Nick Haynes owner, but this score of 34 was a season worst, and when you factor in his 46 from last week, it wasn’t a good fortnight.

Essendon (7.7.49) defeated by Melbourne (10.8.68)

Multiple Goal Kickers

Essendon: Stewart (3)

Melbourne: Hunt (4), Fritsch (3), Neal-Bullen (2)

  1. Christian Petracca (130). What a year for Petracca, who has had it all finally click together. He had another outstanding game through the middle of the ground, picking up 23 disposals and kicking the 1 goal.
  2. Dylan Shiel (125). This score helps him finish with a season average of 102, just a point below his career best from all the way back in 2015. Had 25 disposals while running at 96% DE for the game which boosted his score, also added 1 goal and 6 clearances to be the Bombers best scorer.
  3. Steven May (123). The Demons backline enforcer finished this season with a career best average, mainly courtesy of his incredible second-half of the season, where he has scored six tons in eight games. Had 21 disposals and 7 marks in this game.
  4. Max Gawn (121). Not as big as we’ve become accustomed to this year but a great score nonetheless from the Demons captain. Had 17 disposals to accompany his 26 hitouts and 4 marks. Finishes the year with the best Supercoach average of all players at 139.9.
  5. Zach Merrett (119). The top five is rounded out by the Bombers jet midfielder, who has enjoyed a splendid season to average 115 Supercoach points per game. Had 25 touches, 7 marks, 9 tackles and 5 clearances to finish his season.

Other notable scorers: Still plenty of good scores to come from this game. The only other Bomber in triple figures was Adam Saad who notched exactly 100 points from his 19 disposals which gained 596 metres, while at the opposite end of the ground, Christian Salem (111) had 22 touches, 6 marks and 4 tackles. His fellow defensive buddy Jake Lever (114) had his best score of the season from 17 disposals and 10 marks, while the final hundred point scorer was Clayton Oliver (112), who had 20 disposals at 90% to have his season average finish up at 122. Young Bomber Darcy Parish (95) had 25 disposals, while the other Bomber within ten points was former Lion Tom Cutler (90), as he finished a solid season at the Bombers with his own 23 disposals effort. Dangerous young forward Bayley Fritsch (97) could’ve had a big bag but only slotted 3 of his 7 shots on goal, with hard-at-hit midfielder Jack Viney (92) being the last of the 90 point scorers for his 17 touch (11 contested), 7 clearance game. No injuries of debuts to mention here.

Disappointment: Unfortunately one of this year’s best defenders in Ridley didn’t have his best game, only having 13 disposals for 64 points. Was second behind turn for DE% on the year at 87.53%. Also won Essendon’s B’n’F, a great year for the young gun.

Adelaide (4.9.33) defeated by Richmond (12.5.77)

Multiple Goal Kickers

Adelaide: Fogarty (2)

Richmond: Riewoldt, Aarts, Caddy (2)

  1. Reilly O’Brien (129). Has produced a great season, especially since round 11, scoring 6 tons in 7 games. This latest one came courtesy of 19 disposals, 7 marks, 4 tackles and 29 hitouts.
  2. Dustin Martin (116). The star Tiger produced his first ton since round 13 for Supercoach finals week. Played a great game through the middle of the ground, picking up 28 touches (16 contested), along with 6 marks, 4 clearances, 496 metres gained and 1 goal for his side.
  3. Shane Edwards (111). His first game since round 5, Titch played a ripping game through the middle of the ground, picking up 18 touches (12 contested), to go along with 8 clearances.
  4. Kane Lambert (110). Hasn’t been as consistent as previous seasons, but this week was one of his better performances, picking up 18 touches, 6 marks and laying a couple of tackles to go along with the 1 goal.
  5. Jake Kelly (109). One of the Crows reliable defenders, Kelly scored his first ton this season from 15 disposals, 5 marks and a solid DE of 86% to round out the top 5 scorers.

Other notable scorers: Another four players made it into the low hundreds here, with the popular Rory Laird and semi-popular Matt Crouch both rounding out their 2020 seasons with good scores. Laird (108) had 28 disposals (11 contested) continuing his new inside midfield role, which he has averaged 121 in, while fellow midfielder Crouch (105) overcame a shoulder injury to record 30 disposals. A pair of Richmond back flankers joined them, with Liam Baker gathering 12 touches and laying 4 tackles to record 106 points, with Jayden Short (101) rounding out his season with a 20 disposals effort to average 96 on the season, up 31 points from last year. In the 90’s were Vlastuin, Graham, T.Lynch, Brodie Smith and Luke Brown. A very spread scorecard form then on, especially for the Tigers, who only had Chol (48) and Balta (49) scoring below 50. No debuts but both Caddy (59) and Aarts (60) had injury concerns throughout the game. Not Supercoach relevant but Taylor Walker’s one major meant he took over Tony Modra as Adelaide’s all-time leading goal kicker.

Disappointment: Overall it hasn’t been the best season for Bachar Houli  in terms of Supercoach. His score of 64 just bettering his 62 from the week before.

Brisbane (11.12.78) defeated Carlton (10.1.61)

Multiple Goal Kickers

Brisbane: Rayner, Rich, Robinson, McCarthy (2)

Carlton: McKay (3)

  1. Daniel Rich (148). His elite kicking was on show during this game, even when it had patches of fairly strong rain. Kicked 2 long range goals from his 22 touches (10 contested), while running at a very good 86% DE with no clangers. Was one point of his career best.
  2. Lachie Neale (142). This season’s king of the midifield finished in strong fashion, gathering 29 disposals (16 contested) to go along with 5 clearances and 627 metres gained. A Brownlow looks more than likely.
  3. Sam Walsh (119). The Blues young gun finished the season with an average of 101, an incredible return considering he didn’t score anywhere near a ton until round 7 (averaged 113 since that round). Had 31 possessions (21 contested), with 6 clearances, but unfortunately, 10 clangers held him back.
  4. David Cunningham (115). A career best score of Cunningham to finish his 2020 campaign, coming courtesy of 14 disposals and 9 tackles playing between midfield and up forward.
  5. Cameron Rayner (114). Scored his second ton in three weeks here from 2 goals, 7 tackles and 11 possessions. Has shown great improvement this season and has X factor for the finals series.

Other notable scorers: The next best score after these five came from Carlton midfielder Kennedy (112), who recorded 23 touches (11 contested), 6 clearances and 4 tackles in his first game since round 12. A single point below him was Sam Petrevski-Seton, who scored his fifth ton of the year from 17 touches off a half-back flank. For Brisbane, skipper Dayne Zorko (106) finished of his tremendous season with a 14 touch, 4 tackle game, while popular defensive rookie Starcevich rewarded anyone who for some reason still owns him with a career best score of 110 from 16 touches (9 contested) playing across the half-back line. Tough midfielder Mitch Robinson fell 1 point below 100 due to his 14 touch, 2 goal effort, with Ah Chee (91) being the next best for the Lions due to his 13 touch, 10 mark game. A couple of popular Supercoach pickups throughout the year in Pittonet (98) and Williamson (91) were the closest for the Blues, but the story of the night was Kade Simpson rounding out his career with a 19 touch, 523 metres gained, 1 goal game. What a career he has had, one of those players who has been respected league wide simply for the way he plays the game.

Disappointment: Overall its been a disappointing season for Patrick Cripps (26) owners, as he has recorded his worst season average since 2015, although this last score was injury affected. On the bright side, it shows that the Carlton midfield hasn’t fully relied on him, with Curnow, Walsh and Setterfield being a just some of players who have really stepped up.

Hawthorn (17.6.108) defeated Gold Coast (8.9.57)

Multiple Goal Kickers

Hawthorn: Gunston (4), Puopolo (3), Bruest, O’Brien (2)

Gold Coast: Sexton (3)1

  1. Jack Gunston (134). After a big couple of weeks, it all came together for Gunston here for his season best score. Kicked 4 goals, had 431 metres gained, took 11 marks and overall, had 18 disposals.
  2. Tom Mitchell (130). His return to the big scores after a couple of bad weeks was a welcome sight this weekend. Had 34 disposals, 7 marks, 5 clearances and 424 metres gained for his club.
  3. Dylan Moore (123). Unsurprisingly the best score of his 10-gamer career. Moore had 25 disposals, 8 marks, 1 goal and ran with a very good DE of 88% at half-forward.
  4. David Swallow (121). The Suns skipper saved his best performance of the year for last. Finished the game with 27 disposals (17 contested) with 11 clearances and just 1 clanger to score only his second ton of the year.
  5. Liam Shiels (119). The Hawthorn veteran rounds out the top 5 due to his 26 touch, 5 tackle, 5 clearance, 1 goal performance.

Other notable scorers: Ill get it out of the way first, Gold Coast didn’t have a great Supercoach scoring game here except for the 15 touch, 7 tackle game of Greenwood (98) and the 23 touch, 4 tackle game of Touk Miller (93), while young guns Anderson (88) and Powell (89) weren’t too bad. The other hundred point scorers for the Hawks were young gun Greaves (100), who finished with a 90 point average over his three late season games, with small forwards Bruest (17 touches, 2 goals) and the retiring Puopolo (11 touches, 3 goals) scoring 118 and 111 points respectively. Young midfielder James Cousins continued his strong 2020 season with a 24 touch, 92 point game to stake his claim for 2021 breakout contention. A pretty dominant performance for the Hawks meant it was only Frost (48) not getting above 50, but it was soured by a late-season injury to Ceglar. Gold Coast debutant Farrar (49) had 6 touches and 1 goal.

Disappointment: A season average of 93 was down a little from last years 99, with this weeks 59 not helping Jarrod Witt’s cause.

Sydney (9.9.63) defeated by Geelong (10.9.69)

Multiple Goal Kickers

Sydney: Papley, McInerney (2)

Geelong: Dangerfield (3), Hawkins, Parfitt (2)

  1. Patrick Dangerfield (170). Saving his best score for the season for the last game of the year was the Geelong champion, who was the difference against the Swans thanks to his 14 touches and 3 goals playing deep forward.
  2. Luke Parker (127). Has been super over the past month of footy, scoring his third score over 120 in that span here. Had 23 touches (12 contested) with 5 marks and 4 clearances.
  3. Sam Menegola/Callum Mills (113). The Cats star had another stellar game between midifield and up forward, finishing with 25 touches, 10 marks and 487 metres gained, while the former rising star winner capped off his best season with a 20 touch, 5 tackle effort, overall averaging 101.
  4. Jake Lloyd (110). His incredibly consistent season continued, scoring his sixteenth ton in a row from 27 touches at 96% DE, overall gaining 442 metres. Fairly certain he’s the only player who’s got a mention in every game this year, his one score under 100 (77 in round 1) copped that games “disappointment”.
  5. Cameron Guthrie (109). Another guy who has had a smashing season, Guthrie finished up with a 19 disposal, 5 mark, 5 tackle, 1 goal performance.

Other notable scorers: Another four big name Supercoach players hit the ton here. Josh Kennedy (107) was the best of them for his 25 touch, 1 goal performance, with classy left-footer Dawson’s (103) 22 touch, 1 goal game bringing his seven week average to 99 points. He may not be incredibly relevant in Supercoach these days but Gary Ablett (103) was sensational in his first game back with a 16 touch, 1 goal game, while the last player, Tom Stewart (105) has been ultra good in the second half of the year, this week recording 22 disposals, 7 marks and 573 metres gained (a game high). Only the Swans had players in the 90’s, and they were Papley, who kicked 2 goals, McInerney, who did the same, and ruckman Sinclair, who had 22 touches and 13 touches at 100% efficiency. Not much else to mention but Sydney youngster James Bell had a headclash that ended his day early.

Disappointment: He’s been super all season but unfortunately the last 4 weeks haven’t been Mitch Duncan’s best, only averaging 86, with this week’s 69 being the worst of the four. Hawkins (57) also wasn’t spectacular.

Fremantle (6.8.44) defeated by Western Bulldogs (11.8.74)

Multiple Goal Kickers

Fremantle: Fyfe (2)

Western Bulldogs: English (2)

  1. Tom Liberatore (196). What a game for Libba, as one could assume this was a career best score. He had 25 disposals (15 contested), 7 clearances, 8 tackles and just the one clanger while running at 88% DE. His season average of 106 was his best since 2014.
  2. Lachie Hunter (156). Has only played 9 games for the season but an average of 115 is a fantastic return. This was also a career best score, courtesy of 35 disposals, 7 marks, 1 goal and 613 metres gained.
  3. Tim English (143). A breakout year for the young Dogs ruckman, who finished with a season average of 102. Kicked 2 goals amongst his 14 touches while also adding 20 hitouts and a couple of tackles.
  4. Caleb Serong (122). The rising star favourite probably grabbed some more first place votes with this 25 touch, 6 tackle game. A season average of 81 with three scores above triple figures isa ripping start to his career.
  5. Luke Ryan (121). Another defender who has had an incredible consistent scoring season. Had 25 touches, 9 tackles and 400 metres gained for his thirteenth ton of the year. Has year long DE percentage of 84%, which has helped a lot with his consistent scoring.

Other notable scorers: Fremantle skipper Nat Fyfe was just a single point below Ryan on 120 points, his ninth ton of the year. He kicked 2 goals amongst his 23 touches, while also adding 4 tackles throughout the day. Young ruckman Sean Darcy (113) continued his impressive season, which has shown impressive Supercoach scoring ability, this week contributing 15 touches (13 contested), 1 goal and 28 hitouts. Bulldogs star Marcus Bontempelli (105) also joined the hundred club with a 20 disposal, 1 goal, 5 tackle game, making him the eighth and final player to reach the threshold. Back-flankers Caleb Daniel (92) and Bailey Williams (90) were joined in the 90’s club by Fremantle forward Hogan (94), who had 13 touches and 1 goal. Pretty spread scoring from there on in as one could assume with such big scores in the top 5. The bad news for the Dogs came in the form of a head injury to young forward Naughton, who finished up before halftime.

Disappointment: He’s been spectacular once again this season, which makes Macrae’s season low score of 85 even more disappointing for Grand Final weekend.

Collingwood (7.3.45) defeated by Port Adelaide (9.7.61)

Multiple Goal Kickers

Collingwood: Mihocek (2)

Port Adelaide: Ebert, Motlop (2)

  1. Tom Rockliff (144). His stellar run of scores kept coming in the last round, topping the table with a 30 touch (half contested), 10 clearance, 1 goal game. Set to play his first ever final in a couple of weeks.
  2. Brodie Grundy (122). Averaged 10 points less than his previous two seasons but with an average of 120 and only two scores below 100, he was well worth the starting price. Had 17 disposals with 36 tackles and a couple of tackles.
  3. Scott Pendlebury (121). In a game where he set the Collingwood all-time games record, Pendlebury showed he’s good enough to add another couple of seasons to that. Had 23 touches (13 contested), 6 tackles and 7 clearances to be one of the Pies best.
  4. Taylor Adams (120). After scoring a season worst score last week, Adams bounced back with a 26 touch, 11 tackle performance to bring his season average to a career best, 110.
  5. Dan Houston (118). Rounding out the top 5 was Houston, who looked set for a full-time midfield role to start the season, ended up playing his best footy across half-back. Had 8 intercept marks this game, taking 12 overall which helped him gather 23 disposals, ultimately finishing the year with 6 tons to his name.

Other notable scorers: Plenty of other good scores came out of the final game of the Supercoach season. Brayden Maynard (115) has had an outstanding season, scoring ten tons on his way to averaging 102, this last one coming from 18 disposals (16 kicks) and 479 metres gained, making him the only other Pie in triple figures. Darcy Byrne-Jones (112) has elite talent across half-back and it showed in this game, he collected 20 touches and 8 marks, while a man who oozes talent in Robbie Gray (107) also scored well thanks to his 25 touches and 7 clearances. Finishing exactly on 100 point was veteran Boak (21 disposals, no clangers) and the talented Xavier Duursma (16 touches, 1 goal), with another veteran in Brad Ebert falling a single point behind them for his 2 goal 16 disposal game. Ollie Wines scored 92 points for his 23 disposal game, the exact same score that Collingwood ball magnet Adam Treloar had, although he had a possession more. Isaac Quaynor had clean disposal as usual running off half-back to finish on 94 points, while a point below him was Jack Crisp, who has had a fine season, averaging 99 with eight tons. No injuries or debuts in this game either, apart from Roughead’s ankle scare but he played out the game with no trouble.

Disappointment: Peter Ladhams was looking really good during the middle of the season, but upon his return from an off-field issue, he’s been used more as a forward, this week returning his worst score of the season with just 26 points from 8 disposals.
