• Mitch Duncan (148). Didn’t miss a beat in his return game from a slight hamstring issue of my memory serves me correctly. This was a season best score in the wet, courtesy of 26 touches, 7 tackles and 1 goal.

• Andrew Brayshaw (136). It’s official, the Brayshaw train has taken off. The former number 2 pick has now scored 100+ four games in a row, this one due to 28 touches (17 contested), with 6 clearances and 8 tackles. 

• Mark Blicavs (125). The Cats ultimate utility posted a season best score, making it his third hundred of the season to push his average into the 90’s. He finished with 19 touches (13 contested), 9 clearances and 24 hitouts even though he started the game down back.

• Harry Taylor (123). The best score of the season for the veteran Cats backman. Helped by playing a loose man in defence roll, he almost hit the hundred mark by half time, ultimately finishing with 18 touches and 4 marks.

• Caleb Serong/Luke Ryan (118). A tie to finish here with two semi-popular Dockers both playing solid games in the wet. Sarong had by far the best game of his career with 22 touches, 1 goal and 7 tackles, while Ryan had 23 disposals, including 21 kicks.

 

Other notable scorers: Next up was a triple treat of 113’s. One of them belonged to another Fremantle young gun in Adam Cerra, who had 17 touches and 9 tackles, while the other two went to Geelong pair Sam Menegola (26 touches, 1 goal) and Zach Tuohy (26 touches, no goal). Micheal Walters made it seven out of eight tons for the year with his 115, but did finish with a hamstring issue, while veteran David Mundy scored his second of the season, finishing with 104. Cam Guthrie continued his strong form with another 30 disposals and 6 tackles to score 90 points, with other in 90’s were Sean Darcy and Brandon Parfitt. The season debut of Lachie Fogarty went well and he finished with 76 points from 13 touches and 6 tackles, while the career debuts of Close (74, 14 touches, 1 goal) and Tobe Watson (49, 8 disposals) were very solid. Darcy had a knee had a leg problem, Walters a previously mentioned hamstring, and Tucker a hamstring 5 minutes into the game, all of which soured the loss even more. 

Disappointment: Going to throw this one out to Minario Frederick (14) who just didn’t get much going in his second game, which will slow his cash generation and all but take him off the “trade in” radar, does look an exciting player though!
