Round Review – Rd7 (Part 2)

Written by Dane on July 21 2020

Adelaide (8.7.55) defeated by St Kilda (12.6.78)

Multiple Goal Kickers

Adelaide: Walker (3), McAdam (2)

St Kilda: Butler (3), King, Kent (2)

  1. Jack Steele (162). A career high score here for a guy who is having a career best season. Steele kicked 1 goal amongst 26 touches and 6 tackles, while also recording a ridiculous 20 contested possessions and 13 clearances.2.
  2. Reilly O’Brien (143). The big Adelaide ruckman is back to his big scoring ways, this one coming on the back of 14 disposals (all contested), 3 tackles and 28 hitouts.
  3. Patrick Ryder (128). Back in the team and back into the starting ruck role, Paddy recorded his best score of the season by far, ultimately finishing up with 7 disposals and 22 hitouts in just 65% game time. You know what that means if you’re an owner of Marshall though…
  4. Tom Doedee (124). Four hundreds in the last 5 games for the Adelaide stand-in skipper, who compiled 10 marks and 18 disposals during the game while running at a great 94% DE.
  5. Jake Carlisle (116). Another key defender with a solid score here, Carlisle played his usual backline role to round out the top 5 scores on the back of 12 touches (7 contested) and 4 tackles.

Other notable scorers: Heaps of other players in the hundreds here so quickly, for the Saints they were: Kent (100), Paton (102), Gresham (108) and Howard (107), while for the Crows it was Keays (114), Seedsman (103), Talia (108) and Walker (104). First gamer Ryan Byrnes (22) finished with 5 disposals, while Rory Laird (91) gathered 15 disposals in his 150th. Coffield, the Crouch brothers and Lynch were all in the 90’s, but Josh Battle’s facial injury early in the game soured the win.

Disappointment: If you wanted to trade in Brodie Smith, he’s going to be very cheap soon. Copped the tag from Geary and finished on a very grim 13 points.

  1. Can’t believe Doedee has turned into a premo keeper. Was concerned he’d take a while to warm up after bringing him in @ round 2
