Quarter Finals time. This is where things start to really heat up. This is when you need all 22 firing. This is when you need the loopholes working to their optimum. This is where you need to nail the VC or have a sturdy C to bring things home. This is the real stuff.
This week I’ve focussed on the PODs in each match up. This is based on the 22 players who’s scores counted so this doesn’t include failed loopholes nor does it include players missing last week (Selwood, Greene, Williams, etc…). There’s some real unique options in the eight teams, Andrew Gaff standing out as someone I wasn’t expecting to see.
1 – Power rangers (282) Doch, TMitch, Merrett, Oliver, Macrae, Roberton, Hibberd, Witts, Nank, Steele, Tuohy, SPP
8 – Merky’s Premiers (2110) Dusty, Zorko, Rocky, Harbrow, Grundy, Ryder, Howe, Rance, Buddy, Newman, Greenwood, Mountford
There’s clearly more than one way to skin a cat with 12 PODs in this battle of the two hot teams in the comp. Last fortnight they were the #1 and #2 scoring teams. Both teams will be looking to upgrade their 22nd man to increase their scoring potential.
2 – Griggsy FC (329) TMitch, Bont, Rocky, Adams, Laird, Hibberd, Shaw, Ryan
7 – Rockliff_Nroll@SCT (2066) Zorko, Oliver, Wines, Howe, Simpson, Buddy, Newman, Tuohy
Assuming Ryan was played as a loophole or as injury cover otherwise I’m baffled how Griggsy is ranked so high in the overall. Rockliff_Nroll looks full premo but might need a few of Griggy’s super elite to have a down fortnight to notch the win.
3 – Bunchakhuuunts (985) Oliver, Roberton, Ryder, Gray, Lynch, Shaw
6 – MaccasMaulersSCT (1689) Pendles, Martin, Adams, Nank, Newman, Greene
Two very similar teams in this H2H. Macca’s PODs look much stronger than Buncha’s but Lynch is such a yo-yo scorer that if he were to have two big weeks it could be the difference.
4 – Bustling Barrys (1013) GAJ, Treloar, Heeney, Gaff, Roberton, Hibberd, Buddy, White
5 – The Phat Side @SCT (1599) Dusty, Merrett, JPK, Goldy, Ryder, Simpson, Shaw, SPP
Seems like there’s a groundswell of support for the people’s champ, Yiorgakis who is coming home strong. I like his PODs more than Barry’s although I’d hope Yiorgakis has the trades to upgrade SPP and maybe ditch Shaw.
