The Fallen Premiums R5, 2013

Defenders:

Heath Shaw ($484,900; Ave 90.2, BE 62, -$56,400) Gets top billing for an upgrade target this week. Would’ve liked his price to drop a little more, but at least that 130 against the Bombers would instil confidence in prospective suitors. Only downside is that he’s missed at least 3 games per season since 2007.

Corey Enright ($450,200; Ave 83.4, BE 88, -$52,200) 4 scores in the 80s already this season shows what we might get from him this year. Started the season at over $500k due to his history of maintaining a 90+ average for the last 7 years. You’d probably want to see a 100 out of this bloke before trading him in to make sure he’s not the Sam Fisher/Chris Newman of 2013, but keep an eye out.

Shannon Hurn ($442,900; Ave 85.6, BE 59, -$45,900) Scored his first 100 of the season this week after a huge last quarter! Had a game high 7 rebound 50s, which is what you’ll get from him with that lethal 60m pass that we know he’s capable of. Was well held in the first 3 quarters though, as teams continue to lock down on him.

Midfielders:

Gary Ablett ($680,100; Ave 136, BE 90, -$60,400) The time to get GAJ is now. He’ll likely make a mockery of that breakeven this week. Unless you’ve got a heap of cash in the bank you’ll probably have to cut one of your midpricers for him. Get him in at all costs.

Dane Swan ($638,600; Ave 125, BE 63, -$36,700) Last two games of 167 & 127 means he’ll be going back up again this week. Probably have to have him, GAJ and Pendles by year’s end.

Jobe Watson ($611,800; Ave 123.6, BE 79, -$35,400) His one bad game of 67 is now out of his price cycle. All 4 of his other scores have been 120+. Unlikely to be this low in price for a while and will be up around $650k in a few weeks.

Kieran Jack ($561,400; Ave 111.6, BE 71, -$40,000) Would be a huge POD in your side, overlooked by nearly everyone in preseason, as only 2.8% of coaches own him. Like Watson, his score of 68 will no longer be dragging his price south after this week and could be back over $600k before we know it. 116, 126, 130 & 114 already this season.

Steele Sidebottom ($533,800; Ave 111.6, BE 27, -$34,600) Has scored back to back 136s in the last fortnight, including a 116 and 131 in the first two rounds. Will be rocketing in price after this week. In only 2.4% of sides. Will be interesting to see how Luke Ball’s return will impact on him midfield time, but looks to be roaming free with Pendles/Swan getting most of the opposition attention.

Luke Shuey ($515,900; Ave 93.2, BE 67, -$37,200) Coming good after a disappointing start to the season, albeit a tough one coming up against Crowley in R1. Scored 117 and 105 in the last two rounds, racking up 22 disposals in the first half against Port.

Rucks:

Jarryd Roughead FWD ($478,400; Ave 81.6, BE 78, -$76,400) Still got my doubts about him, but the only ruckman really available as a Fallen Premium nearing the bottom of his price cycle. Ivan Maric, Darren Jolly, Sam Jacobs look to be coming down in the next few weeks so keep an eye on them.

Forwards:

Dayne Zorko MID ($489,500; Ave 93.2, BE 18, -$45,500) The magician is back to his old tricks, racking up 105 and 151 in his last two games. A tough two months of fixtures ahead is the only thing putting me off buying him. This will be the last week he’d be going for under $500k for a while though.

Drew Petrie ($438,900; Ave 78.8, BE 43, -$67,200) A consistent mid-90 averaging forward for his career. Currently underpriced if he can return to his usual output. A 120 against Brisbane showed signs of that. The 41 he scored 3 weeks ago will now drop out of his price cycle. Prepare for inconsistency as with most key forwards, but can win you games with 6 scores of 120+ last season, including 159, 161 & 168.

Mitch Robinson MID ($418,600; Ave 68.8, BE 68, -$56,100) Looks to have hit the bottom of his price curve now. Hasn’t put in a big one this season yet, but with a decent run of games coming up (MEL, STK, PTA, BRIS, GWS) he could be a real steal at under $420k if he gets going. Went 161 against the Dees last time out. Probably can’t rely on him to get to that 100 average, but should be good for at least a 90 average from here on in.

If you can afford to wait another week, Dale Thomas could possibly be less than $400k and would be a superior value option to the forward options above, especially if he can return anywhere near his 109 average of 2011.

  1. Pass on all but Perie looks good but he dosen’t suit my future upgrade plans with the likes of Buddy, Gray and Priddis

  2. What do you guys think about Dangerfield…?

T/U: Trade him for J. Watson
T/D: Hold him. He’ll come good

  3. I am looking at Dwyer to Murphy and Wines to Scotland to cover Gibbs. This leaves me with $100,000 in bank as well. Blues have a great run coming up.

  5. So many great options this week. Could happily trade in any of H Shaw, Watson or Jack this week if I had the required number of trades, but SJ gets the nod for me.

Priddis and D Thomas looking good in a few weeks as well

  6. Was planning on getting Gaz into my squad this week but with all the wreckage in the back line it’s forced my hand to bring in Heater instead.

  7. I need urgent help haha, backline falling apart. I have 160k up my sleeve.

Is Hanley back this week, I heard he got a slight injury but was suspended anyway last week, is he certain for round 6?

    if so, my team:

Goddard, Heppell, Hanley, Newman, Stevenson, Sierakowski (Gibbs, Goodes)
Ablett, Swan, Cotchin, M.Murphy, Montagna, Lucas, Omeara, Mayes (Kommer, Colquhoun)
    Cox, Rowe (Blicavs, Daw)
Franklin, Rockliff, Bartel, Neade, Sinclair, Macaffer (Kerridge, Dwyer)

What to do, what to do… Sierakowski or Colquhoun I doubt will get a game, so I’m forced to trade down back. Gibbs has been consistent yet has only topped the ton once and that was 150 in round one, I think he’s got two 90s and an 80 before his injury. Out for a week, no certain it’ll be less then 2… Is he a trade option? I’d like to keep Brett Goodes but I’m unsure, he seemed a keeper but he’s missing 2 weeks. Do I bite the bullet on one of Gibbs/Goodes or offload both. Stuck big time. I also wanted Gawn but the backs have stuffed things up.

    Suggestions, my friends?

  8. fyfe you moron, gibbs fix ya hami and get out there! …..goodes!!! guys are just not co-operating with my team schedule haha

so i do have bench cover but supercoach being the way it is i probably need to trade. i dont want to but i cant afford to take a mediocre score if i want my rank to get better.

    222k in piggy bank
so i can leave fyfe or trade up to watson/swan?
trade gibbs to birchall or maybe harry taylor?(i am a cats man)
    trade goodes to shaw?
if nothing had gone wrong i would have traded blicavs to gawn for cash and probably just left it but im in a good position and really cant afford sub par performances.
So advice please, give me your thoughts, maybe what your going to do and why?

Would like to call up H Shaw, but not sure my my cows are ready

Think I’ll stick to the plan and grab Gawn and Docherty

    Who for Docherty?
