The Ressies Recap – Rd 17

Written by Chillo on July 19 2018

Some very notable performances from some beloved Supercoach favourites in the twos this week! Did I miss anyone you’d like to hear about? Let me know in the comments below.

WAFL

FREMANTLE: There will be at least one change at the Dockers this week, and Harley Bennell (255K fwd) is certainly in the mix (for next week)q after 19 disposals and a goal. Danyle Pearce (310K fwd) is well and truly on the outer but continues to dominate the WAFL, compiling 34 possessions against Perth.

WEST COAST: Nathan Vardy (373K ruc) looks in line for a call-up after his 66 hitouts against Swan Districts, while draftee Hamish Brayshaw (117K mid) with 25 disposals and two goals, and the experienced Dom Sheed (375K mid) with 37 touches both impressed.

SANFL

PORT ADELAIDE: Jack Trengove (163K mid) played well in the AFL and plays well in the SANFL too, 26 disposals in the local derby. Rookie defender Jarrod Lienert (124K def) recorded 22 possessions.

ADELAIDE: Patrick Wilson (105K mid/fwd) really is too good for this comp! He was BOG again after 32 disposals, 6 tackles and a goal. Cam Ellis-Yolmen (378K mid) also showed good form with 25 possessions and two goals.

NEAFL

GWS: Brett Deledio (474K fwd) is finally back and it’s like he never left, recording 32 possessions against the Suns, while Jeremy Finlayson (298K def/mid) had 22 kicks amongst his 27 disposals.

BRISBANE: Tall midfielder Jacob Allison (257K mid) was Brisbane’s best in a win over USyd, picking up 33 touches and a goal. All the usual suspects were their usual selves, with Recap regulars Ben Keays (378K fwd), Ryan Bastinac (434K mid), Corey Lyons (124K mid) and Tom Bell (287K fwd) all seeing plenty of it. It’s actually quite difficult to get into the Lions’ senior squad at the moment though!

SYDNEY: Another week, another absurd stat line from Darcy Cameron (124K ruc), who amassed 28 disposals, 43 hitouts and three goals. Pre-season notable Jordan Dawson (124K mid/fwd) has struggled with injury this year, but had 29 touches and a goal in an encouraging game.

GOLD COAST: Lots and lots of big numbers for an experienced Suns side against the Giants! Brayden Fiorini (392K mid) with 36 possessions and two goals, Michael Barlow (463K mid/fwd) on return with 44 disposals, Jacob Dawson (102K mid) with 29 possessions, and the recovered Pearce Hanley (428K def/mid) with 31 touches, all had huge games.

VFL

CASEY (Melbourne): Dom Tyson (352K mid) was in VFL mode this week and had 25 possessions, while young tall Sam Weideman (191K fwd) booted four majors. For the 20% of coaches that still have him, Tim Smith (224K fwd) could only manage 9 touches and a goal.

ESSENDON: Talented forward James Stewart (326K fwd) is pushing hard for a recall after 26 possessions and three goals against Werribee. Dylan Clarke (124K mid) recorded a massive 15 tackles to go with 19 touches, while fellow young gun Kobe Mutch (164K mid) had 22 disposals.

BOX HILL HAWKS: Pick 45 James Worpel (143K mid) continued his outstanding VFL season with 34 disposals, Mitch Lewis (124K fwd) kicked another three goals, and defensive general David Mirra (266K def) recorded 21 kicks in his 22 possessions.

FOOTSCRAY: Promising young forward Fergus Greene (124K fwd) kicked four goals against Casey, and Tim English (287K ruc/fwd) seems to be fully recovered from a foot injury after amassing 37 hitouts.

NORTH MELBOURNE: A big loss to the Tigers meant a rough day for the Roos, but it couldn’t stop the force that is Braydon Preuss (347K ruc) from amassing 43 hitouts to go with 13 disposals.

SANDRINGHAM (St Kilda): Early season star Blake Acres (462K mid/fwd) should return to the seniors this week after 24 disposals, while Nathan Freeman (124K mid) may finally be in line for a debut after 23 touches.

GEELONG: Midfield bull Charlie Constable (117K mid) is an outside chance of a senior debut this week after dominating Sandringham with 33 disposals and a goal. A big game from Zac Smith (457K ruc) saw him amass 21 disposals, 43 hitouts and two goals.

RICHMOND: Tyson Stengle (148K fwd) had a day out with 24 possessions and six goals, while Sam Lloyd (389K fwd) remains firmly on the Tigerland fringes after 37 touches and a goal.

CARLTON (Northern Blues): Nick Graham (333K mid/fwd) is a VFL superstar and had another big one against Williamstown, compiling 33 possessions and two goals.

COLLINGWOOD had the bye.

    1. I was thinking the same about Charlie Constable, Wighty. Both players are jets, but it would be much better for us if they were rookie jets in 2019.

  1. couldn’t agree more. Apparently Lienert and Stengle are frikkin handy too. Greene’s another potential, and we don’t want Wilson, Lewis or Dylan Clarke playing any more games either. FFS coaches, pull your heads in!
Hopefully Preuss doesn’t get a game either. Instead he requests a trade!! Surely Dogs, Cats and Giants would be interested?!

  2. I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, surely a club will try and snap up Sam Lloyd and Anthony Miles. They’re dominating the VFL each and every week but simply can’t get a game at Tigerland. Surely Carlton or the Gold Coast should be looking at the form of Richmond VFL and Casey and try and steal some of the Tigers and Dees depth players. Surely!!
