      1. So it’s not like the usual? Teams will just be announced the night before the game is scheduled?

    1. Definitely- although we will have to be a bit more careful with loops in the next few weeks given the lack of notice for team selections.

  1. I’ve heard of throwing a spanner in the works,
but surely the toolbox has got to be empty.
How much more can 2020 throw at us.:)

    1. I’m pretty sure I just saw 2020 at bunnings. U might want to hold onto your hat. It’s gunna get rough.

  2. What do people feel about Tobe Watson’s job security? Looking for a downgrade target but have to make the trade before the teams will be announced on Saturday! Going to be a tough few weeks with teams only announced the day prior, lots of guess work

  3. Can this one be pinned at the top of the site as well over the next few rounds? Given teams are only being announced 24 hours out we will need to refer back to it pretty often!

        1. Any chance Trent Rivers gets another run? Might need def cover if Ben McKay is out for Majak

          1. Got him and Gould just stinking up my pine. Might be time for a rookie sideways manoeuvre.

but with an average of 83 @ metricon & the gabba
    will be looking else where

    1. As a north member I was wrecking my brain as to who would go out.
Unless there is an undisclosed injury to either Tarrant, McKay or Walker in the backline or dropping Larkey after 1 game I reckon it will be either Brown or Pitard for his lack of discipline at 3 quarter time last week

      3

        1. Saw him interviewed and he said that Shaw gave him no indication either way.
Given Tarrant Walker and McKay are healthy the forward it must be.

      1. na , had to hold trades in case players were rested etc over the spread out round ,
new he would ton up , give or take , but didn’t expect the tigers to do a number on the dogs like they did which lead to his monster score

    1. I couldnt risk holding him with a bye next week so went to b smith and cash. Smith’s lowest score I think apart from being ko’d.

  5. Hey Shaggi and other Gasometer fans,
Simpkin and/or Taylor are not being rested coz perhaps not being 100% atm??????……..
    or is Browny being reprogrammed????

    1

    0
    1. North’s hands are somewhat tied at the moment due to the extensive injury list. I traded out Simpkin this week as I do think he is playing injured and will probably cop the Kesys tag.
I still think that Taylor is going okay but possibly be looking forward to the bye. I expect him to have a second surge in the later part of the season.
Brown just needs help and Larkey and Daw will provide that.
Better kicking going inside forward 50 would also help.
Boomer was great at this underappreciated skill.

  6. We never learn. You never trade out a premo. What do I do? I decided Dusty is no longer top 10 fwd and trade him out to fund Bazlenka and Greenwood, and he does this to me. I should have taken my own advice.
Well done Dusty , you are a champion and I should have never doubted you.

    1. Wouldn’t be too hard on yourself mate, he’d been pretty average/uninterested the last month, did show some pretty good signs last week though still trying to work out how he manged 108 with 8 clangers.

      5

      0
    2. its just that he’s a flat tracker , plenty of very low scores in tough games @ very high scores in easy games to come

      2

  7. Any other “Sources” have any news about Green (GWS) and Simpson (Geel) as to whether they are playing?????
ie…. you have probably already guessed, to get Pickett’s score…..

    2

    0
    1. Green is going to find it very tough to get back in with Zac Williams and Adam Kennedy ready to play and also Shane Mumford and Callan Ward knocking on the door.
I can’t see him playing any time soon.

btw. Zac Langdon and Lachie Ash are looking vulnerable this week.

As for Simpson? Joel Selwood and Jack Steven are highly unlikely to play this week so he should play but it has been a very strange year. Find out for sure tomorrow evening.

      2

      1. Thanks.
I need to find someone to field out of Hibbard for the bombers and Simpson for the Cats. Hibbard is named as an emergency currently

I’d rather field Simpson at the moment but if Hibbard plays for the bombers I might just be better to field him and not risk the donut if Simpson doesn’t get a game.

Thinking of just rollng the dice on Simpson playing.

        1

        0
  8. Brisbane : Connor Ballenden fwd $123,900 to debut
Carlton : Harry McKay “if he gets through training today will play.”-
    David Teague

    3

    1
      1. Anyone have any confidence in either of these guys to stick around for 3+ matches?????? Asking for a friend 😉

        0

        4
        1. Connor Ballenden is playing as a F/R back up for Oscar McInerney – who will take most of the ruck. Connor will play Archie Smiths role (smith out for 6 weeks) Stefan Martin out for 8 weeks and a two-week ban for Daniel McStay in forward line
Lions academy product Connor Ballenden would make his AFL debut, nearly three years after he was selected with Pick 43 in the 2017 draft.
Fagan said Ballenden had been working hard on his ruck craft, as well as his forward craft, over the past six months and would play Smith’s role. Ballenden also recently kicked four goals against a reserves Eagles side.

          7

          0
        2. Draper had big wraps on him before his unfortunate knee injury. Essendon mates who watched VFL said he was one of the dominant rucks going around in 2018 with his workrate around the ground and his contested efforts.

If his knee is ok and his fitness is back to where it was pre-injury then Draper could absolutely grab the Bombers no.1 ruck spot.

          6

          0
        3. coming from a bombers fan, draper will be our number 1 ruckman in the near future, if he plays well barring injury I dont see him losing his place for a long time. He’s been a long time coming but is very very good

          11

          0
        1. Depends which of them perform better. Skinner has also played as a forward / second ruck in the twos. Skinner is the more physical of the two, while Ballenden has better disposal.

          2

          0
          1. So according to comments received (IMO) Skinner will have R2 duties and Ballenden Fwd duties as their priorities…….

            0

            2
            1. Otherway around I think. Connor is Archies replacement and Skinner is McStays replacement, but as Maaz said above Skinner can part time ruck as well. He has had 3 ACL’s though and I think Brisbane would prefer he doesn’t ruck.

              3

              0
              1. David is correct.
Refer to my post above in regards to Fagans comments regarding Ballenden’s role as Archies replacement.

  9. Hahahahaha…….after worrying……..hahaha………about havin’ no defence backup………..hahaha………sorry guys, i’ll regain composure in a minute,……..l now have both Starcevich AND BeZerk……..hahahaha,……… which leads to the very important decision……

    For Emergency…….in case Noble doesn’t play…….(stifled snickers)…..

    Tu Starcevich
    Td BeZerk

Ps Thank you Father Dougal’s Hampster…..hahaha……

    1. Tom Doedee questionable for rd 9. Expected to be right but “time frames and general load management will be carefully considered” – Steve Saunders Adelaide’s head of science and Medicine.
      Team announced tomorrow about 5.25

      4

      1. I thought it was 6:20pm. Any source on the 5:25? I would love it to be 5.25pm giving me a 15min window to make decisions before Haw/Carl players are locked it (all my trades hinge on trading out Williamson from Carlton).

        2

        0
        1. Channel 7 Adelaide apparently reported he won’t play. Sounds like they’ll rest him for the trip to QLD, so he’s right for following two games in Adelaide.

          3

          0
            1. Thanks for the update guys. Doedee will be a hold for me unless something unexpected happens with my other defenders. Bringing in Saad for Williamson which will bring me to full premo in defence once Doedee returns.

              1

              0
    1. Watch him get 20 touches, 5 clearances, 5 inside 50s…and then get dropped for not applying enough pressure.

Crows absolutely insane trying to turn him into something he’s not.

      6

      1
  10. Lookin’ like Noble to be out then……
And maybe Brandon no longer needed……..”sigh”…

  12. Thank you so much Chaos Theory !!!

You have been tireless with your team updates under VERY trying conditions.

If you haven’t got it already…

I nominate for you for The SCT Hall of Fame

    A toast to CT …

  14. For round 10 tomorrow night, Dunkley is returning to the field. With Dunkley back and Bevo coaching, who do you think will lose their mid minutes?

    2

    0
    1. Nato.

Now thats a curly one .

Knowing my luck Baz gets moved forward.

Seriously, I can’t see it. He has been pretty solid at stoppage in a defensive capacity. I think he keeps his midfield time.

Bont has already been spending about 50% of his time on ground up forward.
Macrae may go back to the wing for a quarter or two ?

I’m hoping they ease Dunkley in, with a mainly forward role for the next few weeks. A couple of low scores will drop his price 😉

      I guess time will tell.

      4

      0
  15. I’m also hoping Dunkley is eased into it with this condensed fixture, so we get him cheaper.
I’d add Libba to that list of potential players as he is getting roughly the same CBA’s as Smith the last couple of games and Bont is getting slightly less than those 2

    2

    0
    1. ……and maybe Smith will get full relief for his not yet 100% injury recovery……..and then maybe north will do the same with Simpkin…….an then……ahhhhh!!!!
