Trade Or Hold – Rd14

Written by Schwarzwalder on June 20 2018

So many parallels with Nat Fyfe from 2017.  A champion player down on his form, frustrating his owners with decent games yet lower than expected scores.  With just two tons (105 & 103) from his last seven games (and another game missed due to injury), Dusty’s owners are becoming increasingly annoyed as they see fellow premium MIDs performing far better.  Is it time to get rid of Dusty?

What to do with Dusty Martin (RIC)?

  1. Hold.

Richmond’s last four games: Geelong, Gold Coast, Essendon & Western Bulldogs.

Dusty to go big for SuperCoach finals.

    1. agree Slats. And if you haven’t got him, i’d be looking to snaffle him up post-byes. Another week off will have done him good and surely now is the time for him to boost his output in preparation for the pointy end of the season. he’s cheap as chips given his potential upside. Look at last year if you need convincing!!

    2. perhaps Slats
but I think , more likely , he’ll be rested @ some point during the SC finals with another NZ niggle , to get him ready for the real stuff , tigers will finish top 4 regardless , they don’t really need him during the SC finals V pies cats GC & ess ..

  2. One thing to come out of the Tigers Cats game was that even though he didn’t score massive, at least he was tackling again, so maybe he might’ve turned a bit of a corner and getting his mojo back, yeah baby!

  3. sacked him 2 weeks ago and glad i did. Plenty of stats flying around about his post bye scores in previous years.. but really not seeing it at the moment. Every week you hold him and he scores 80-90, you fall an extra 20 points behind

  4. I broke my own SC rules and rage traded him out when he missed round 12. My thinking was he may miss the next 3 weeks. I also had too many r14 bye players.

I was a bit nervous when he was picked last week but it seems I may have made the right call.

He may trade him back in in the next month if his form improves and I have a LTI in the Mids. Fingers crossed thats not the case.

I’m wondering if Prestia coming back back see him spend more time forward?

  5. good supercoaches base their selections on maths , not a players name or past history ,
dusty , pendles , merrett etc , are just ” MID PRICERS ” this year ,
    nothing more ,
to trade any of them in on current form & have it pay off would be pure luck ..
