Trade Or Hold – Rd5 #3

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 18 2018

Our attention turns to Matthew Kreuzer, the most expensive Ruckman of 2018.  After a career best Supercoach season in 2017, Kreuzer was considered a Top2 Ruck again for 2018.  Many Coaches started with the Set & Forget Option of Kreuzer at $600k+, but have been a tad disappointed with the output till now.  Not only was he a late withdrawal in Rd2, Kreuz has only produced a 74, 86  & 60 in his three appearances.  His SC price has dipped to $543k and he doesn’t appear to be moving too freely.  What would you do with Matty Kreuzer?

  1. I’d trade him – not only is he obviously hampered (as is his want in life), but his 2017 was a seriously clear outlier within a career average of 84.

There’s very little chance that he’s a top 5 ruck – if you have like more than 27-28 then trade him.

  2. The curse of number one ruckmen not backing up strikes again. Defiantly not starting Grundy next year so far.

    1. I agree the top two from last year Ryder and Kreuser have both failed.

Does that mean we shouldn’t start Grundy and Gawn next year?

      1. Not since 2008/9 (Dean Cox) has number 1 ruckman in any given year also been number 1 the following year.

      1. Good call. Sinclair is flying completely under the radar at the moment. Now that he no longer has to share the ruck duties, he’s averaging 111 (high 152, low 75, 3/4 106+).

        1. Looks good at first glance until you see he’s rucked against 50% TOG NicNat, no Ryder Port, injured Lobb and English. Pass for me.

  3. Obviously not the decisive factor but he has the rd. 12 bye whereas grundy and gawn both are out rd. 13. Thoughts? Just for people like me considering going sideways to grundy

  4. Currently got 25 trades left. Worth using one just to swap a premo for premo?

    TU- Hold Kreuz

    TD- Trade him to Grundy

  5. I started with Kreuzer and decided to dump him before last round as he just didn’t look right in the Collingwood game. Grundy was getting to the ball on boundary throw-ins a good 1-2 steps before him and he had minimal impact around the ground.

I still think it’s a reasonable trade to make but glad I made it last round as it was much more efficient cash-wise.

    1. Noticed the same thing and then he was rested for the last 10 minutes of round 3 – Went with my gut and did him to Grundy last week.

Unless he gets a week off i can’t see him recovering properly from his groin

  6. Damn…Asked if Kreuzer to Grundy or hold on trade talk last week for an overwhelming no result, amazing what a week in supercoach will do.
