Trade Talk – R1

Written by Motts on March 28 2016

Yes we’re a little early this week but with only two teams left to play, no doubt you are already thinking about those vital correctional trades.

Swan? Sidebottom? Anderson? Greene?

And on the reverse side of the coin, Hall? Papley? Hewett? Adams?

Let’s hear how you’re going to fix things.

(Check the ‘Tradeable Goods’ Post to see if your question is already being answered).

  1. Only correction trade I’m looking at is Milera to Papley if Papley scores decent in round 2 and is named for round 3 and Milera has another low scoring game. Nailed the rest of my selections so can’t be too disappointed if I have to burn a trade early.

Mids : Danger, GAJ, Priddis, Wines, Cripps, Libba, Crouch, Townsend, Menadue, Hewett & Davis

    Thanks all.

  3. Aiming for 2200 so not a disaster, lol. First week only….
Not sure if I sell Jack Steele or Seedsman….. Or wait a week. Glad I didn’t jump on the Barlow hype, but missed the libba.
Fyfe was disappointing, but probably worth another week seeing he’s the top fantasy player. This week Gotta consider Weitering, Sheridan, JJ, BenKen. I think libba is a must add now that he’s back too:
Thoughts to help me out would be awesome!?!

Laird, Lonergan, Seedsman, Dea, Adams, Tippa (brown, Ruggles)
Fyfe, Danger, Gaz, rocky, Cripps, Shiel, BCrouch, Mills (Gresham, Hewitt, Davis)
    Goldy, Nicnat (Wyett)
Wingard, Hall, Buddy, Steele, wells, Kerridge (McGovern, paps)

  5. Been pretty happy with my team apart from a couple mid pricers looking at just over 2200 and have 74k in the bank

DEF – Houli laird sheridan cutler weitering dea (adams tippa)
MID – Danger gaz priddis shiel adams viney crouch kenedy (gresham hewett davis)
    RUCK – nic nat gawn
FWD – barlow robo steele wells kerridge menadue (lmac papley

First trade was thinking was downgrade cutler and chuck adams on the field then use the left over to upgrade steele to libba or hall

Second trade upgrade cutler to lonegan and then steele for mills or oliver

  6. I haven’t got either of the Sydney cash cows so depending on round two performances (and how the other rookies go) I might bring one of them in.

Barlow and Crouch were terrible, and Rocky underwhelming, but let’s see how they go next week – early days!

  7. No trades for me and I think those considering trading out B Crouch are ludicrous, for me he’s had the perfect start. Solid score but most importantly got through really well with no sign of injury. He picked it up in the second half and all he has to do is get through a few games and he will go crazy

  8. IMO the only trades that should be done after round 1 are for long term injury.

One game is not a large enough sample to make decisions on anything else.

Even corrective rookie trades should only be after round 2 before the price rise.

  9. No trades for me this week
My problem last year was being too trade crazy so I’m just gonna try and relax this year and whatever happens happens .”

  10. Due to trading addiction last year I have had trading button deleted for first two rounds this year. I must not trade, I must not trade, I must not trade!

  11. I was way too trade happy in the early parts of my first year last year. It really cost me at the end of the year. So no trades for me. Hoping barlow and fyfe come good and i missed KK’s injury on Saturday so hopefully that’s not too serious.

  12. Missed out on libba, weitering, benken, Oliver.
TU — get 2 of them in!!
TD — wait until week 2

Have got weaker players in Seedsman, Jack Steele, Brown
Please comment if you have time or could be bothered. Cheers

  13. Thou shall not trade!!

I made a big mistake last year and burnt two trades after round 2 – to bring in the ‘Gun’ NVB and trading out a rookie Touk Miller for some spud who I cant even remember.

Moral of the story give them time unless they’re injured.

Having said all of that, if Sidebottom get 4 its going to be very hard to keep him! Haha

  14. Round 1 scores only count ONE time in pricing calculations, so it is the best spot to have a turkey.

Back it up with another horror show in round 2, and then you face the chop.

    I’m saving my trades…

  15. Was set for a huge opening week until all my premiums spudded it up yesterday and a few of the wrong rookies on the bench. Bit salty, but overall have a decent balance throughout the team and nothing urgent needs fixing. Looks like I missed out on a fair few decent mid pricers but hopefully GnR prevails. Holding.

  16. Gotta hold firm on the trades boys! Rookie bring ins after 2 games is the only real trading reason…long season everyone!

Pies to bounce back next week? Thumbs/up
Start 0-2 and in a slight bit of poop? Thumbs/Down

  17. Projected score of 2295.

DEF – Shaw, Laird Smith Weitering Dea Adams (M Brown Tippa)
MID – Danger GAJ Shiel Parker Libba Crouch Mills (Menadue Hewett Davis)
    RUCK – Goldy Gawn
FWD – Barlow Hall Greene Wells B Kennedy Kerridge (McGovern Papley).

Prior to round one was tossing up between B Smith and Johannisen in Def and Z Merrett and Greene in Fwd.

Obviously took the wrong options as far as scoring goes Am a bit over Toby Greene’s scoring potential which is likely to be up and down so am thinking of rage trading him.

I only have $12.5K left so trading him to Merrett immediately is not an option without 2 trades (possible later with, say, Mills to Petracca when named).

I probably should hold but I could trade him (Greene) to Johannisen by substituting Tippa to the fwd line and Dea to bench. This would give me the option to have Menadue or Papley (or both) on field in the fwd line and either Kerridge or Hewett in the mids (Mills to bench).

I am really keen on Johannisen but a straight swap with B Smith is not a great option.

Would like some feedback but am expecting taht the anser will (and probaly should be) wait another week.

  18. Considering trading Fyfe to Gray/Priddis. A cork derailed his season last year and I do not need an elite priced mid limping around ghe fwd line for the first month or two.

  19. Anybody see Toby greenes game? Have him but I’m definitely worried as he’s not a out and out premium. I’ll watch next week to see how he goes before considering any trade

  20. what do we do with fyfe is he going to come good hes going to drop so much in price its not even funny maby trade him then get him by like round 6-7 when hes cheap as chips

  21. I’ve had a gut feeling to trade Danger out for Selwood, it’s been bugging me all day. Had the same feeling about Fyfe last week and went for Priddis instead. What to do?

  22. Unless all 3 of OMc, McTip and Brown get dropped this week, no trades for me. I just stick with 1 of those spuds at D6 until I can upgrade. I can see it’s going to cost me points though.

Next week. Greshem/Dunkley –> Hewett if he has another good game.

  23. First time commenting this season and good to be back for another big year ?

Anyone got any Jed Anderson injury updates?
Had about 100K all preseason then decided to burn it all on Anderson at the last minute for squad depth (don’t trust Menadue that much with JS/I reckon andersons pretty safe) so I’d hate to lose him this early in the season!

  24. Have a bit of a dilemma. I got stuck with Nathan Broad from Richmond after lockout of Thursday night. Does the SCT community think I should trade him for Papley (via dpp)? Or I should miss out on Papley and hope that Broad gets named in the next couple of rounds?

T/U: Trade Broad out, AMT to defence, Papley in
T/D: Don’t trade and hope that Broad gets named and Papley spuds it up next week

  25. I think everyone needs to chill a bit! I personally chose not to take Fyfe, hoping that I could pick him up cheaper, BUT if I did have him I wouldn’t be trading him, I’d back him in. If Dangerfield spudded it up making Fyfes score would you trade him? I don’t think so. Unless there are clear signs in his next game he is playing injured then DO NOT TRADE HIM. I’ve learnt a lot from last year, my season aim was to finish in the top 1000 (which is again my goal this year) with one round to go I was 1039. So close to my goal, two of my players got injured and guess what NO TRADES LEFT. I had made 4 trades by R3. Trades are gold. Don’t waste them!

  26. Sidebottom with a 2 match ban.
Should i burn a trade for two weeks of solid points from the likes of anyone (650k bank) rather than using rookie bench cover?
Or… Should i burn a trade and rather than use bench cover, downgrade to one of the emerged rookies such as hewitt, parish or oliver?
    Help 🙁

  27. Probably a rage trade, but what do you guys think?

    T/U: Dont burn trades early

T/D: Robinson to Hall, and Hartley to Weitering

  28. Against all athe dvice I’m burning two trades this week.

    Out: T.Greene, M.McGovern
    In: T.Hickey, B.Kennedy

Hickey in the forward line allows the sub option with Cox who I have at R3 I want that flexibility for the bye rounds.
Kennedy I should have had already. grrrrrrrrrr

  29. No injuries to report for my team, hence no trading for my side this week despite it not being too flash being up and down, but still cracked 2000+ which is what you want in the first round of the season.

But I have some moves I must make for SC Draft. Got the W in the first week which was great, but got some tinkering to do with the team:

So off the waiver wire before Round 2:

    OUT: S.Coniglio -> IN: J.Viney
OUT: M.Pavlich (I purely had Pav because I just ran out of time during one round of the draft, frantically going through my cheat sheets) -> IN: J. De Goey
    OUT: D.Roberton -> IN: T.Sheridan

    T/U – Good moves
T/D – Reassess them (comment which ones)

    Cheers community 🙂

  30. Any reason to trade this week guys with no injuries. Scared will need more than two next week before price changes?
