Trade Talk R21, 2014

Written by Motts on August 11 2014

Well, I made it through Week 1 of the Finals in my cash league with an 18 point victory over a traditionally strong competitor. This week I’m up against the bloke who finished 1st on our ladder.

With 2 trades left I don’t have a lot of room to move – my plan is to use them only on last minute outs or on blokes who have been done by the tribunal for lightly kicking one of their opponents in the head.

How about you?

  1. Serious under performance from Scott Thompson means he is gone this week. 4 trades left. Backline Sits @ Swallow, McVeigh, Mitchell, Enright, Simpson, Thompson.
However I am in a pickle on who to pickup. The Standouts for backs include, Hanley, Malceski, Smith but I already have 2 – 3 Adelaide, Sydney & Brisbane players in my team.

Need a POD Defender fast. for 501k
    Suggestions pleaseeeee.

  2. Scored 2517 my highest ever score, and lost!! So now its a do or die semi final against my best mate. I got 2 trades left with $72,800 in bank. Only injury is Hibberd, am covering him with Gardiner. Trade or not to trade??? Really want to hold to a possible prelim.

  4. 0 trades left, Scored 2,469, won and have advanced to the winners bracket.

Have Stevie J so if he misses a week that can be covered as I have a week off playing anyone in the finals.

    Let’s hope for no injuries!

  5. 4 trades left, but only $12.8k in the bank

Pretty happy with my side. Biggest weaknesses is probably Goddard at M8 (not the biggest problem), who I could trade to Rockliff

Got Shenton and L Taylor rotting on the bench. Might ditch one of them to a cheap Western Bulldog to make some cash (+ loopholing)

TU – 4 trades, trade away
TD – Hold tight, trades are unnecessary, you have Fyfe

  6. 4 trades & a measly $20k left. Elimination games in my leagues needing some help!

    S.Thompson and/or C.Wingard are my must trades.

Im thinking of finding a reliable cheap fwd or def and then using money to upgrade either one of those players to a premo. Or am I better off going like-for-like around the same price range – and which players?

Current defenders: Swallow Burg Hanley Mitchell Enright (Georg, Bews)
Current fwds: Parker Danger Gray Zorko Martin (Cameron, Honey)

  7. got the week off.
97k in da bank – 3 trades left.

iam seriously thinking about upgrading pav (he is my FWD EMG) to boomer harvey so i can loophole both mid/fwds.

will leave me with only 1 trade for the prelim (& GF if i make it!)
the trade needs to be done this week because pav’s price will drop too much if he plays this rnd (hope he gets rested LOLOLOL)…

TU: be yolo and do the trade
TD: stay swag and chill with your 3 trades + cash till next week

  9. No trades, but a short wishlist for the SC Gods:
    – Stevie J gets a week for his unique brand of ‘football’
    – Fyfe has a week to rest his shoulder
    – Hodge has something similar for his ribs/back/whatever
    – Langdon is recalled (what’s doing Bucks? Pies defence was a mess)

As you can see, I am the underdog this week. Realistically, I’m going to have to be creative with my choice of captain, and just try to enjoy the footy.

  10. One trade left… 30k in the bank…

Thinking of getting Crisp for Honeychurch in the event Stevie J goes out this week.

I have no faith in any affordable premium midfielder coming in and outscoring a virtual rookie…

  11. Ok need some help for this week. Up against a guy who seems to have the edge over me, looking to make some trades.

Two trade left, $175,000 in the kitty.

    Backline seems to be set
Midfield has two glaringly obvious holes, with the slumping Dion Prestia and Hamish Hartlett.

Forward line looks okay with Parker, Zorko, Mcglynn, Danger, Wingard and Stef. I think Wingard may have to go, or I could upgrade both Prestia and Hartlett to players like JPK and Murphy.

Guys need your help, should wingard not be in my final team? or keep him in to gain a much stronger midfield.

    TU: Midfield
    TD: Bye Wingard

  12. Looks like I am gonna have to trade Roughy now. I have 509,000 to spend, any suggestions? I was thinking of moving Dangerfield forward and getting maybe K.Jack or Dal Santo. Any thoughts or ideas are welcome! Cheers.

  13. needed to trade the big roughie out.

Have Danger, Gray, Stef, Zorko and Dusty – 2 trades left, 519.7k to spend.

Like the following 2 options, as they both have relatively easy schedules:

    T/U Chappy
    T/D Bird

Comment: Anyone else. Happy to take a risk.

  14. Crap. Roughead out & LeCras likely to miss again. It’s times like this I wish I had some trades left. I’ll be relying on Wingard & Charlie Cameron to get my fwd line through. I’m pretty much done for.
Second time this year that Rough cost me through suspension. 1st time was during the byes when he cost me a donut, and now for a knockout final. Never again. Same goes for LeCras, although, I should’ve seen that one coming.
    Cherish those trades, people.

  15. Just wondering what people’s thoughts are about price movement if you have a bye this week. My D6 is not performing and is due to drop in price (yet again). Meanwhile the price of better defenders are likely to rise. Having only 3 trades left what does one do?

T/U: Trade out the dud and risk bringing in a better player or,
T/D: Hold off one more week and hope luck favours you or settle for a not so primo player

  16. In the crunch game this week with 2 trades and $30K in the bank
    OUT:
Roughead (Only just bought him in last week)
    IN:
    T/U Gray
    T/D Buddy
Still have Pav, Cameron and Spina (or Honeychurch as DPP) as M8 and bench

  17. One trade left for me but have the luxury of having a week off as one both my prelims.

I have Pav or McGovern on the field. Still looking at improving my rank so who should I start?

    TU: McGovern
    TD: Pav

It looks like I won’t be able to get rid of Pav for anyone decent so he has lasted the entire year in my team. Never again.
