Trade Talk R21, 2012

Written by Motts on August 13 2012

If you are reading this, chances are you’re still alive in Supercoach. Congratulations!

Some of you will have won a week’s reprieve from competition whilst for others it’s do or die this week.

It’s time to plug those holes, pull out those stops, and unveil the big guns.

Who’s coming into the team this week? And who’s unceremoniously being let go?

  1. I finished first on my league ladder but I ended up losing the qualifying round even though it should of been a easy win (thanks suckling and Goodes). Got a easy match this week to enter pre-lim (my opponent has a few inuries as well).
T/U: Hold off trading until pre-lim
T/D: Don’t risk it this week, TRADE TRADE TRADE

  3. With only the 1 trade left and 3 must win finals this weekend I might have to go Hawkins into Roughnut, if Roughnut is named of course, I don’t think Hawkins will play Friday night.

if anyone has a better suggestion trade wise let me know, I have 540K odd so
Signore Beams is out of the question

  4. So I’ve got 2 left and in an elimination this week. Thinking Milera to (anyone who is 94k) and ellis to either Waters or Shaw???

  5. Porpoise and Tippett expected back this week. Wouldn’t trust Tippett in a knockout game like this personally but Porps should be a handy emergency for Bud.

  6. A score of 2500 and a narrow defeat of 25 points hurts.. But an avg of 2478 in the last month holds me in pretty good stead going into the do or die semi-final.
I have 1 trade left.. And very seriously considering upgrading Porpz to Stevie J. Yay or nay??

  7. Got a Semi-Final? Here are some players to consider.

    Defenders:

    Grant Birchall $452, 600 Avg: 96.8

With a game against Gold Coast, you can expect Hawthorn’s rebounding half-back to feed out of the Hawk’s defence and rack up a reasonable score.

    Paul Duffield $419, 700 Avg: 87.2.

Truth is, I only put him on this list so I can say Duff Man! Duff Field caused many Supercoaches grief this year but has returned to with a 3rd Avg of 114.3. Pick with caution as Ross Lyon lurks closeby.

    Allen Jackson $106, 600 Avg: 86.

Only played one game and it was against GWS. Probably best to wait a week but he is a MID/DEF DPP if you need flexibility.

    Midfielders.

    Jobe Watson $597, 700 Avg: 125.
With a 5rd avg of 128.2, Essendon’s Elemental leader has clearly not been effected by his clubs divebombing fall down the ladder.

    Chris Judd $524, 200 Avg: 112.6
The bad boy returns after chickening out Leigh Adams in round 16. He had scored 126, 126 and 159 in the weeks leading up to his suspension, so if he can hit the ground running he’s priced very nicely.

    Scott Thompson $491, 900 Avg: 112.5

Thompson is a bit of hit and miss. The Crows have a dream draw to finish the season and Thompson could capitalise on that and average 140ppg from here. On the other hand, Brisbane, Melbourne and Gold Coast could all tag him and limit his effectiveness. Brisbane especially has Andrew Raines, and with a reasonably high BE, it might be astute to wait a week before bringing Thompson in.

    Rucks

    Dean Cox $554, 300. Avg: 115.8

    190. Coxy has his off days but when he delivers, he really delivers. His massive score returned him to the top of the ruck table this season, and with Port Adelaide in shambles he could run riot again…or he could be rested.

    Paddy Ryder $507 000 Avg: 108.

Essendon is hopeful Ryder will return from his injury layout. Do you risk a gamble on him?

    Shane Mumford $411 000 Avg: 85.3

Mummy is back in form, with 110 and 116 in his past 2. Still very cheap if he can keep this standard up in the next 3 weeks.

    Forwards

    Dayne Beams $631, 400 Avg: 119.2
Just a cool 170 from Collingwood’s silky playmaker, to put him atop the Supercoach Forward averages for the season. Will cost you, but has the goods.

    Patrick Dangerfield $604, 100 Avg 116.1
Had him all season, and talked him up last week and his didn’t disappoint. 187 points and as Thompson usually attracts the taggers, Adelaide’s rocket propelled midfielder can go to infinity and beyond.

    Steele Sidebottom $496, 400 Avg: 108.5

Has not reached the steller heights he’s acheived this season in the last few weeks, but is consistently providing 90s and 100s. With the proven abilty to go big and a good score floor of 72, the Man of Steele can anchor your volatile forwardline down.

I hope this post helps you a little this week, good luck to all.

  8. Got the week off in all four leagues after a bit of good fortune but will probably bring in Beams next week as a blocker and ditch Goodsie – he looked all at sea on the weekend.

  9. Just putting it out there for discussion (I have Zorko, but not Danger or Beams).

If you had the cash & trade(s), anyone looking at up-grading Zorko to Danger or Beams if they don’t have them? I am probably not even though not having either nearly lost me games, but if Zorko goes to either he would have to go this week before their respective prices head in different directions.

  17. Hmmmm ….. i’m in a must win LoEC final after a heartbreaking 1pt loss last week to AndyB. I’ve got Fish this week. Feeling a little confused as to what to do. Hoping that Buddy and Roughie are both back and my team will be back to full strength. Only prepared to do one trade but would probably prefer to not do any. If Buddy’s looking unlikely i’m going to bite the bullet and trade him. All sideways trade thoughts are appreciated.

    $2,400 and two trades

DEF: Deledio, Scotland, Goddard, Waters, H Shaw, Lake, Carrazzo … S Shaw, Ellis
MID: Ablett (c), Kennedy, Selwood, Swallow, Priddis, Murphy … Couch, Sexton
RUCK: Maric, Mumford … Stephenson, Campbell
FWD: Dangerfield, Beams, Sidebottom, Roughead, Franklin, Martin, Zorko … A Kennedy, Crozier

  18. Feels weird not stressing over trade options this week. Got rid of my final 2 trades last week. Team has finished like this:

Deledio, Goddard, Carrazzo, Suckling, Lake, Newman, Yarran
    Shaw, Yagmoor

Ablett, Pendlebury, J.Selwood, Thompson, Priddis, Dal Santo
    Zorko, Gibson

    Cox, Mumford
    Redden, Campbell

Pavlich, Franklin, O’Keefe, Chapman, Harvey, S.Johnson, Goodes
    Martin, Crozier

Defence has been a little neglected, but all have the ability to pump out a ton, just not as regularly as I would like.

Have been told my forward line resembles that of a retirement home, at a ripe old average age of 30, but it gets the job done. Can anyone boast a more experienced forward line? Goodes, Martin and Zorko will compete for the F7 position for the remainder of the season when everyone’s fit, whilst also providing more than adequate cover for midfield injuries.

  19. My team is:
Deledio, Goddard, H Shaw, B Waters, Scotland, Birchall, Lake – Darley, Ellis
Ablett, Pendlebury, Watson, Boyd, Dal Santo, Murphy – S Gibson, M Williams
    Natinui, Mumford – Redden, Campbell
Franklin, Pavlich, Dangerfield, J Riewold, D Martin, Goodes, OKeefe – D Smith, Murdoch

I have a bye this week before the Semi’s and 3 trades and 21000 in hand.
Looking at trading Lake to Carazzo, Downgrading a bench player and upgrading one of Goodes, Martin or Riewolt to Beams.

    Any suggestions?

  22. 0 trades and rioli forced to the sidelines. damn. i really need franklin, ryder and tippet back this week or a decent 2012 season is gone. still seems unlikely with smedts starting the rest of the season, was a dumb move to lose most of my DPP after the byes, zorko was meant to be the bench DP Link but hes done a little too well for that, oh well.

  23. Current team:
Deledio, Scotland, Carrazzo, H.Shaw, Goddard, Fisher, S.Shaw
    (Darley, Baguley)
Ablett, Pendlebury, Watson, Priddis, NDS, Gibson
    (Ledger, Couch)
    Cox, Goldstein
    (Jenkins, T. Campbell)
Beams, Pavlich, Dangerfield, Hawkins, Hale, Zorko, Goodes
    (Siposs, Cripps)

One trade left. $102, 600 to spend at the wheel of fortune. Ideas I’m floating:

    * Sammy Gibson out of the mids, throw Carrazzo to mids, then bring either:
Corey Enright into the backline (+$27, 400 left over) or Gibson (+29k)
    OR
    * Goodes to Sidebottom (+$21, 700) or Petrie (+$6, 400)

    OR kinda left-of-field
    * Sam Shaw to Shaun Dempster ($37, 000) I’ll add that I’d not normally be super keen on this one -as much as I love my boys- but Shaun seems to have a different role this year, is rated the best prepared player at my saints AND his intercept marks have been amazing this year. All positive. I did think the MRP would have sighted him for wrestling though, he was certainly getting down and dirty at the MCG on Sat Vs the dees.

  24. Onto the SCTTL league. Using player averages, I’m only a whopping 23.43 pts per player, per week behind Motts’ current team. Not to mention I’ve got one trade left and *two* injuries (Fyfe and N.Roo) & possibly Buddy (though I reckon he will play).

    OK guys. Nobody panic.
    I have the solution.
    It’s clear.
Someone simply needs to lend me $188k so I can go Nick Riewoldt to Beams and make Motts my you-know-what this week.

    #AintGonnaHappen

Alternatively I could send an URGENT message to the following players:
Sam Shaw, Sam Gibson, Lenny Hayes, Ivan Maric, Buddy Franklin, Steele Sidebottom and whoever I find to replace NickyRoo- because they will be the difference between us. He has Michael Johnson, Scott Thompson, NDS, Krooooz, Lewis, Beams & Dusty.

Good luck & cheers to an ‘ole fashioned stoush. (My computer wants me to write ‘stout’ -cheers to that too!)

    GAME ON.

  25. Deledio Johnson Goddard Birchall H-Shaw Carrazzo S-Shaw
Ablett Selwood Boyd Dal Santo Pendlebury Priddis
    Hale Giles
Beams Pavlich Sidebottom Martin Zorko Goodes

2 trades lefts and 128k…… thoughts?
Have until $300k benchers so dough not an issue for one upgrade unless you can somehow squeeze two the the $128k?

TU: Was thinking maybe Stevie J for Goodes and keep one for injury in final?
    TD: Bad trade
Comments for any much needed advice!

  26. 2 trades left and have two semi-finals this week. With Swan and NRoo out I’m a bit nervous. Not much cash.
    Team is:
D – Deledio, Goddard, Shaw, Birchall, Enright, Carrazzo, Lake (Shaw, Bell)
M – Ablett, Watson, Mitchell, Thompson, Boyd, SWAN (DSmith, CSmith)
R – Kreuzer, Giles (Stephenson, Campbell)
F – Franklin, Beams, Dangerfield, Sidebottom, Lewis, Martin, NROO (Dickson, Crozier)

T/U trade Nroo to Fyfe, and play devon smith/dickson as cover for swan
T/D trade Swan to Pendles and NRoo to Stevie J
Or do nothing and hope for the best?
