Trade Talk R22, 2012

Written by Motts on August 20 2012

And so the competition loses a few more teams. Which means we’ve probably lost a few more readers as well. Bugger.

Don’t you wish they ran this thing year round? Or that there was something equally good to do in the off-season? Ah that’s right there is…… horse racing!

But I digress. You’ve got 2 weeks to go. I’m guessing you’ve got precious few, if any, trades left too.

Will you be making changes this week and if so, who are you thinking about?

  1. I’ve got one trade left for an injury or a sideways swap but no plans to use it this week. Tough game vs Don Cottagers but really happy with my team so i think i’ll stick with the current group.
    * Please play Buddy. Please.
    * Two of my Richmond boys in Martin and Maric are slightly tempting to move on as a sideways trade but with Essendon and Port to finish i’ll back ’em in.
    * Will keep GAJ as skipper and Beamsy as VC
    * Just can’t get Sam Shaw and Brian Lake right as my D7/D8. Whoever’s on the bench tends to score a ton.
    * Plan is to use my final trade in a sideways swap in the final week to snare a Crow (vs GC) or a North player (vs GWS).

There you go Don ….. my cards on the table. Yours??

  2. Took a few chances and now I’m through to 5 prelims with 3 trades left and $75k. Pretty happy with my side, not sure who to trade

Del, H Shaw, Godd, Waters, Carr, Birch, Lake (S Shaw & Ellis)
Abb, Pend, Sel, Boyd, Pridd, NDS (Gibson & Miles)
Nic Nat, Giles (Orren & T Camp)
Beams, Frk, Danger, Side, Lewis, Goodes, Martin (Pfeiffer, Smedts)

I’m leaning towards cashing in Gibson at $408k and using this cash to make a couple of upgrades. But where?

Thumbs up – Lake to Scotland
    Thumbs down – Something else

  3. I think it is safe to say that Buddys chances are all well and truly used up. I for one will be trading him out this week! Plenty of options available…

Don’t be surprised if he does an injury in the warm up, or if he does happen to play, he will get subbed out at half time.

I have been patient for way tooooooo long!

  4. You guys have done really well I am out of trades.
Although slightly relieved, as I am still going in the finals more nervous about team selection, knowing resting, injuries, returns could kill my side.

T/U – Cloke to Stokes (F8) and Smedts to Enright (D7)
    or
    T/D – Smedts to Gram (D7) and D Martin to S Johnson (F7)

    Which combo is best?

  12. Never sure where to put this, but here seems a good a place as any.what players are going to be first picked next year? I’m thinking T.Cloke would have to high on everyone list.should be as cheap add chips next year and surely couldn’t have the nightmare year he’s had this year.Martin is another along with Stanton, these guys have the summer to sort out how they can get better, what do you guys think?

  13. hey guys ive got 2 trades and 243k in the bank. thinking of using both trades this week to try and ensure i make the GF. im the only one left with any trades.

B: Lids, Birch, Hanley, Lake, Dempsey, R Shaw, S Shaw (ellis, darley)

M: GAJ, JPK, Joelwood, Priddis, Murphy, Pendles (masten, pfiffer)

R: Maric, Hale (Big O, redden)

F: Beams, Pav, Dangers, Sidebum, Martin, Zorko, Porps (smedts, elliot)

everyone in my league has lake so i will leave him. thinking of trading R Shaw > Goddard or Waters. everyone has Goddard so im thinking that is the safe play.
also think i will upgrade porps to ROK, or Stevie J

If porps is named this week then i will make 2 backline upgrades, seeing as porps will finish with 2 easy teams and should score well.

any other suggestions would be great.

    T/U Goddard
    T/D Waters

    cheers
