  1. Ed Richards to Logan Austin seems like a no-brainer, but which port forward should I bring in to help cover the byes?

    T/U: Westhoff
    T/D: Gray
    Comment: Boak

    1. None? I know they will provide a warm body during byes but all of them have large question marks attached to them.

      19

      7
      1. I feel like Westhoff and Boak are fairly safe choices, although I agree that I’m not sold on Gray as it seems he has been pushed out of the midfield.

        4

        3
        1. Agree…Gray HAS to kick goals to score…the other two both have dpp, I got Boak this week as f6 and despite his lowest score for the year, remain confident on the choice.

          1

          1
  2. Honestly got now rooks from the players who have their bye this week
Pending team selection for now I might just skip on the trades next week

    7

    1
      1. Might now reconsider, but with byes structure, would have to be for Doedee…the trade is probably the correct long term decision now.

        1

    1. Seems a good/obvious trade however will he be pushed out of the side when Brown returns (most likely straight after the bye)?

That’s my only concern, perhaps a few saints experts can provide further context?

At worst, he’ll make us some quick cash and provide bye round cover for round 12 and 13.

      1

      1. Surely a team sitting 16th on the ladder halfway through the season doesn’t drop a 23yo averaging 25 touches and 11 marks, for a 29yo averaging 8 and 2…

        17

        1
    2. With only top 18 scoring over byes, Im considering Doedee to Austin. At present I have 22/21 onfield rds 12/13…extra cash will be handy.

      1

  3. Coffield > Austin possibly my easiest trade of the year.
Mihocek and Ahern looking like solid downgrades after their bye.

    13

    0
    1. Coffield got 31 possessions he might get a recall. Austin was only in to cover Nathan Brown but he might be hard to dislodge on form.

      Others look certainties.

      3

      2
      1. Yes. He will play again but who knows when.

For me though Murray is going backwards in price and has the worst bye for me = easier choice

        2

        0
    1. not a must have , but if you don’t keep turning over peaked rookies , for “quality” cheap rookies , you’ll run out of cash to upgrade under performers as I did @ the business end of last season ..

      2

  4. Zac Fisher has made me a solid 100K but he needs to go.

Fisher > Logan (by way of Sicily being swung back into my forward line).

This leaves me with 267k to spend.

Like others, I will be having a close look at Mihocek and Ahern. I’m thinking Spargo and L.Murphy out for respective players.

    14

    1. Really want TMac but his ongoing foot issues are a massive worry. Will be paying top dollar after his bye though…

      4

      0
  5. Billings and Dalhaus Out

Westhoff/Gray (undecided need help) and Austin in via Sicily

Next week Guelfi, Higgins and Murphy Out +211k=Roughly 1 million

McLean, Ahern and Premium mid or defender.

Leaves me with 2 upgrades and 11 trades. Kelly, Fritsch and Doedee M9, F7 and D7 respectively hopefully with 6 trades left to hold me from 16-23.

    11

    1
  6. Pretty set on,
    Finlayson to Austin/Christensen to Buddy
Do I bother using my third trade on Doedee to Sicily?

    4

    14
  7. Ed Richards (310k) to Austin (160k)

Richards has a breakeven of 21, so trade for Austin or hold and use richards as cover in next two bye rounds and miss out on Austin

    T/U worth it

    T/D Not worth it

    7

    18
  8. OUT:
    L Murphy
    C Spargo
    D Barry
    IN:
    T McDonald
    L Austin
    P Ahern

Have to get Ahern early to afford TMac now and necessarily swing Sicily FWD for this week’s bye structure; 22 on field.
Two trades next week (20 on). One the week after (21 on).
9 trades left and full premo into Rd15.
Good plan? (barring certain injury/selection mayhem) 🙂

    17

    4
  9. Has Sam Jacobs finally turned the corner?

    TU: Yes. Save those trades!
TD: No, you should still move him on.

    2

    27
    1. If he starts to come good, I might have eights Dees come round 14 🙂

      Gawn
      Oliver
      TMac
      Hogan
      Fritsch
      Brayshaw
      Hibberd
      Smith-to be traded

      *half joking

      2

  10. which pod to go for:

    TU: J Selwood at 515k
TD: Ed Curnow in a week at 569k

I’ve overcompensated for the R14 bye by bringing in too many players with the R13 bye (I didn’t realise so many of my rookies would have the R13 bye), therefore I can’t really get Oliver.

    20

    9
  11. I would love to say I have grand plans for this week. But with Fyfe, Howe and Coniglio all in doubt, I’m just going to have to wait until Thursday night

    16

    0
  12. Golden rule of trading was always don’t trade the first week of the byes. That’s been tweaked slightly with the Port/GC early bye to allow trades this week that bring in a Port/GC player if they’re worthy.

Currently have 21 players for this weekend but with Fyfe unlikely, Cogs questionable, Smith in doubt and L Murphy with jack all JS I might have to look for some putty to cover the cracks.

    7

    1
  13. Ronke, L. Murphy, D.Barry out
    L.Franklin, W. Brodie, L Austin in

Only got 9 trades and only 2 rookies left on field thoughts?

    1

    13
    1. With 9 trades I would even question bringing in Austin, but by the looks of it you need the money.

      1

  14. Time to fill the last mid spot:

Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Mitchell, Oliver, Coniglio, Martin….and?

Trying to decide if Danger is the must-have that he was last year, or if there’s an argument to be made to look at the Gaff/Treloar/Parker/Beams/Zorko/Crouch/Selwood/Duncan/etc. types instead.

Cash isn’t an issue, but one of the cheaper ones may open up the door for a luxury bench upgrade post-bye.

    TU: Have to get Dangerfield
    TD: There’s a better option there somewhere…
    Comment: That better option is…

    17

    12
    1. Im in same boat. Can afford danger but think im going to get oliver insteas. Less % owned and his draw for the next 8 rounds looks fairly soft. Dangers a bit harder.

Will still have 1mid spot left so can watch danger a bit more

      2

      1
    2. Similar dilemma. I’m thinking of taking a punt on Beams or Duncan. Probably the former.
Tom Phillips could be worth a look too.

      2

      2
    3. Have the same magnificent 7.

I’m still holding off on Danger. JKelly on the radar for the last spot (Treloar, Curnow and Sloane also peaking interest).

Reckon Josh has been managed perfectly to get some decent game time in b4 his bye and then boOM. Treloar looks great at the moment and Sloane looks like he’s on the improve. Either way, Danger is likely gonna drop some more b4 his bye, so no urgency from me. Will likely have all other lines completed next week.

M8 is the biggest decision (ie likely most points on the line so I wanna get it right) so am not gonna hurry and make the wrong choice! I have Heeney at M8 until I come to that crucial decision.

      0

      0
      1. We appear to have the same team…I also have Heeney at M8, ready to swing forward post byes.

I’m really torn on this. On the one hand, Danger doesn’t look like he’s playing at his absolute best. On the other hand, he’s still averaging 115 and has only dropped one sub-100 score, which was a 94.

Kelly was in my starting side and I held him through 4-5 weeks of injury. He’s done for me this year, not gonna risk a repeat injury. Crouch is probably in the same boat, just not confident in the hamstring holding up well enough to avoid a rest or two.

Love Curnow, but can’t see him continuing this form for the whole season. Hope he proves me wrong, but it would be a big ask for him based on his historical data.

Treloar………..man…I don’t want to…but it might be the right option.

        TU: Dangerman
        TD: Treloar

        Help me, SCT!

        10

        5
        1. so hard mate. can you wait a little longer or do you have to do it now?
If I had to make the decision now, I’d go Danger, simply because I trust him the most. Like you say, ave.115 and he isn’t even firing (yet)!

          1

          0
          1. I could wait…but I’m upgrading Spargo, so it’s a fair chunk of points I stand to gain over the bye rounds. 2x50s vs 2x 110s.

I’m leaning towards Treloar now, by virtue of the fact that it should leave me with enough funds to bring McDonald in as a 7th forward after his bye, which gives me injury cover down back and up forward (via Keeffe) for the remainder of the year.

If I do, I go into round 14 with:

Laird, Yeo, Sicily, Simpson, Hurley, Savage (Keeffe, Mihocek)
Macrae, Fyfe, Treloar, Mitchell, Cripps, Oliver, Coniglio, Martin (Phillips, Ahern, Giro)
            Gawn, Grundy (Olango)
Heeney, Gray, McDonald, McLean, Smith, Mundy (Curnow, Smith)

4 trades left, ability to cover an injury with Charlie Curnow via DPP on any line except the rucks.

May even be able to double trade Smith and Phillips to a rookie and a fallen mid/fwd premo later in the season, if I don’t cop any LTI’s.

Feels weird to consider not having Dangerfield, but it’s a move that could have a huge pay off in the last month of the season.

            0

            0
            1. Sounds good mate. You’d think both will have it all to play for as spots for the four and eight are up for grabs. And the Pies look better every week!

              0

              0
              1. TMac as a 7th forward, pushing Charlie Curnow to the bench.

Keeffe on the defensive bench, Ahern on the mid bench.

Means for a 1-2 week injury on any line I can swing McDonald down back or Heeney into the middle, and bring Curnow on-field, saving the need to trade or rely on a rookie score.

4 trades left for LTI’s or if things go tits up with the rucks. Would like more, but I had some early season headaches with Greene, Kelly, Crouch, Hibberd, Goldstein, Ryan, Giles-Langdon etc. that chewed up some trades early.

I could skip on TMac, but having that bench cover looks more valuable than 5 trades vs 4.

  15. Not sure on this on but feedback should be useful!

    $45.9k N.Coffield, T.Cole & B.Ronke – L.Austin, P.Ahern & T.McDonald. $54.7K remaining.
    T/U Good Trade
    T/D Bad Trade

Wanting to bring in McDonald so i can field a full team of 22 during Rd 12. Helping bring Sicily’s DEF/MID role into play in the byes

  16. As a few have mentioned, it is waaaay too early to call because of the potential injuries / suspensions / omissions due to form. I’ve got 20 that *should* play but we’ll have to see what drops on Thursday.

    1

    0
    1. Cole looks done. If Heron’s JS is good (my only concern) then i’d be going for it. Austin not suit your byes?!? Would be a better punt if you can still get 19-20 on-field for Rd14.

      0

      2
      1. Already gone Naughton to Austin but I’m thinking about trading Cole this week and bringing in Mihocek a week early.

        0

        2
  17. This bye round is going to be my most painful. Have 20 available but that includes T. Smith, Ridley, Fogarty, Phillips, Spargo and Rice.

Ranked 451 but that will slide.

Sticking to my bye structure of bringing in Westhoff and Gray this week and then Ahern and Hurley (form pending) after rd 13 for cover in round 14. Injuries and players out of form being rested will throw me some curve balls I’m sure!

    4

    0
    1. Hardest bye for me too.

      Benches this week are:
      Yeo Simpson
      Macrae Mitchell Cripps
      Olango 🙂
      McLean Sicily

That’s a sh1t load of talent missing in a single week. Gulp!
On the upside, 13 and 14 are not a problem.

      3

      0
      1. Yeah it’s a very hard bye because it’s all premo talent missing and no downgrade options for cover.

I have those exact same players allsaints! but add in Bont as well. The added fear of Fyfe missing a week doesn’t help.

Fingers crossed we make it through and not drop too much!!

        2

        0
        1. Gawn C (Heeney or Fyfe VC). Don’t have much choice!

Am looking forward to the SuperMaxi – Reg Grundy match-up this week tho’!

Hate to say it, but am probably tipping the pies.

          1

          0
  18. IN:
TU: C Moore (RIC) BE -48 and on the bubble
TD: P Ahern (NTH) 84 in first game and not on bubble, but better bye and DPP, $10k cheaper and likely better JS

    Hmmmmmm

    21
      1. John Glenn just missed 100 points each from T Smith and L Austin in their second rounds.

Where is he ranked in supercoach, again?

        1

        1
        1. Limited examples I reckon. Many brilliant one gamers have flopped in the second. More so than the likes of Smith and Austin….good examples but exceptions to the rule. I’d prefer facts (game 2) than hope (game 1). There will always be exceptions, but for me, they are limited to donuts.

          1

          0
          1. The risk with Ahern isn’t scoring – it’s fitness/injury.

If he can stay on the park now, North will keep in the side and get games into him. He’ll be a massive part of their future, and while they’re looking at a finals berth this year it’s hard to imagine they’d be really planning for the flag. Next year, with more games into their kids…different story.

DPP, should be afforded games, can play….vs….injury risk.

For a bench spot in the second half of the season, I’m prepared to take a chance that he might get injured again if he’ll reliably play and score even 50+ to cover injuries on two lines.

            3

            0
  19. Whats the best forward choice under 480k?

Thinking Hogan as it fits bye structure.

    T/U Hogan

    T/D Franklin

    Comment: Any one else

    15

    3
  20. Any Geelong fans have any insight on Sam Menegola? His scoring has been amazing since round 3 but Cam Guthrie has been out since then. Was he playing forward in the first 2 rounds and will he be pushed back there when Guthrie returns?

    0

    0
  21. Initially didn’t want to trade this round…
Murphy to Austin has to happen
Is Henry to Hogan worth it?

    13

    0
  22. Thoughts please

T/U Dom Barry to Ahern (Barry not going to get a game soon)
T/D Don’t trade Barry he will be back in soon.

    Thanks

    9

    5
    1. i’d put that in the “too hard basket”. i traded Barry out this week, but ONLY because I have three MID premos on the R12 bye. will reverse if he’s named!

      1

      1
    2. Barry had 29 & 3 inside 50’s in a 6 goal loss on the week-end!

Port losing, although only by 3 points he may get a Call up this week!

      4

      1
  23. T/U- T.McDonald
    T/D-J.Hogan
COMMENT any other players for any position have the cash for anyone due to Mirra to Austin and Crowden to Moore? and Hibberd to a full premo (most likely tmac or hogan)

    8

    2
  24. TU: Keefe to Austin via Sicily(lose dpp but gain an extra player for the byes) and plan to trade L.Murphy>Mihocek in R14

TD: Murphy to Austin this week and bank the 50k(keeps dpp but means I’m one player down through the byes with Keefe and I have an extra R14 player)

    0

    7
  25. With fyfe suspended, he misses two bye rounds. Shame only gcs and port to chose from. Is he still a hold ? Guess that depends on everyone’s players on field.

    1

    3
    1. Have to hold him mate. He’s in form, and he was always missing his bye week anyway. You don’t ditch a bloke averaging 120 cause he gets suspended for one round.

      4

      1
      1. Makes sense….always going to miss one….just look at it as FURL !!! Means against my religion, I go Spargo to Ahern despite the John Glenn rule….Cripps and Titch on the bench with O’Connor who is joint c swing with Olango.

        0

        0
        1. I don’t think Ross Lyon factors into a guy throwing an elbow like he’s Macho Man Randy Savage. Ooooooooooh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

          5

          1
    1. I’d think so. You can put a c on a bye round player mid round so you should be able to emergency loophole too.

      Haven’t tried it yet though.

      1

      0
  26. In: Hogan, Austin, Phillips (Tom)
    Out: Parker, Ronke, Murphy

9 trades left 2 rookies in fritch and doedee have 2k in the bank
    Thoughts

    2

    13
    1. Id think twice about trading out Parker with only 9 left.
Unless youre doing quite poorly and making a last ditch effort for finals.

      9

      0
    1. Look like great trades, but both OUTs may get a call up after v impressive numbers in the Magoos this week. Would make the trades worth saving for a bit perhaps? Voted TU tho’, but depends on how many trades you have left.
      Good luck

      1

      0
      1. If Murray gets named I’ll be kind of unsure what to do. Mirra still has more cash to make but who knows if Clarkson will give him a go.

They need more help in the mids tbh so Cousins is a more likely recall.

If Mihocek gets dropped it’d be a surprise so I suspect that’s one less young player in the pies lineup too so I expect Murray to remain out, despite the different roles.

        0

        0
  27. Jack Gunston F6?

Noticed Hawks have really solid draw out of their bye, they play Crows (MCG), Suns, Giants (Spotless), Bulldogs, Lions, Blues, Dockers, Bombers, Cats, Saints, Swans.

    6

    3
  28. Austin and T MAC in

    Dahlhaus and Billings Out

Such a shame… McLean and Gray instead of Dahl and Billings and suddenly I’m top 1% this season. Also traded out Brayshaw in RD3

    T/U Good trades

    T/D Bad trades

I also have the option to upgrade anyone this week but waiting on Gray, Hoff and McLean to fall

    7

    1
    1. Debatable if Moore will keep his spot… Townsend breathing down his neck and the tiges love his forward pressure..
Dimma did say after the game he played well but it will be horses for courses..
It’d look elsewhere.. possibly Ahern or Jones

      2

      0
  29. Thoughts on Zerrett…..top 8 mid for run home ?

    T/U Hold…dont burn a sideways trade
T/D Trade….lots of options to score 15-20 more ppg

Comment if T/D..got titch danger cripps fyfe cogs dusty plus zerrett and one spot to fill regardless during byes….can afford anyone but forget macrae for the moment

    7

    3
  30. Is Tom Mcdonald a good trade in target at his price, given his relatively low b.e compared to his ave?
There are some injury concerns, do we think he will stay on the pitch?

    TU: Go for it
    TD: Look for another option

    7

    3
  31. Who’s the better forward option for the rest of season bye is no issue
    TU Hogan
    TD Walters

    8

    8
    1. That’s a tough one. Hogan’s on a roll but can be inconsistent. Walters is more consistent, more SC-friendly, but injury prone. Both good choices, but both come with risk. But then everyone does. The poll says Walters, just. So would I. Just.
Good luck. In my view neither call is the wrong call.

      4

      0
      1. I just added Walters last week so have both.

Just need to keep a trade handy, and a m9/f7 swingman too.

        0

        0
    1. I’m holding as I have bigger issues than Hibberd. I also want to see how he goes without Lever in the side.

      3

      0
  32. Absolute carnage…

Not only have Simpson, Sicily, Macrae, Mitchell, Nic Nat & McLean out… now add to that Coniglio, Fyfe & Laird…

Thinking of trading Coniglio to Danger as at least he’ll play two of the byes rounds & Conglio possibly only one..& to hopefully field 18 players as have rookies Murphy, Ridley, Spargo and TSmith who may struggle to get a game this week..

    TU: Trade Coniglio to Danger

    TD: waste of a trade

    2

    10
    1. Unless you are going for overall, sit back and wait for the round to start….I’m betting your oppt, like all of us, has similar probs. Enjoy Friday with a good sauv blanc, and decide Saturday. If Coniglio WAS m8 or better for you, is missing one round worth a trade…esp if you have cover.

      3

      0
    1. I have 15 trades left and am waiting til the teams are dropped on Thursday. Check out FD’s comments in his CowTalk thread. My feeling is, if trades aren’t critical right now, it may be better to hold.

      0

      0
    2. PS Oliver should definitely be a target if you need a MID, but the JS of Ahern is likely better than the two you consider, despite him not being on the bubble.

      1

      0
  33. PLEASE HELP……I dont need to trade this week….I’m having withdrawal symptoms. I just gotta hit that “confirm” button.
    I need serious help.

    7

    0
  34. Out: Armitage and Coffield
    In: Dangerfield and Austin

I’m looking at a way to get Walters into the forward line – currently have Fritsch, Christensen, Henry and Smith – think if Christensen is out, I could trade in a mid for anything under 392k (don’t want to go early on Ahern).

What are peoples thoughts on this?

    3

    0
      1. It’ll give me approx. 450k to spend if I went Heron over Austin. Still wouldn’t be confident though on any mid for that price though.

        1

        0
    1. Yep can still hopefully field 18, but that’s a lot of guns out on my GOOD bye.

If some of these injuries continue in the next two weeks there is going to be absolute carnage.

  35. Is murphy to heron a good trade to be doing?
Murphy has poor JS even with half of Adelaide’s best team out, and Heron will give me greater by coverage +100k.
If murphy isn’t named this week, I’ll be down to about 17 on the field.
T/U: Good trade, better for the byes and make some cash
T/D: Save the trade, it’s not worth it.

  36. So ignoring the byes…
That’s all just ignoring them. Half my premos don’t want to play so why should I.
    🙂

  38. Heron vs Mihocek – only have room for one, so it’s a season-long consideration for bench cover.

    TU – Heron
    TD – Mihocek

  39. Sooo, trying to field 18, and bring in players I feel good about. Tentative thoughts below.

Out: Deledio, Fisher, Dusty. (Ugh, but I fear/suspect Dusty missing all the byes, just can’t lose that many points from where I am.)

    In: Oliver, McDonald, Ahern.

That gives me 16 that as far as I know will start, plus the following possibles:

    Laird
    Howe
    Murphy
    Coniglio
    T Smith

Just two of those five gives me 18.

Leaves me with $169,400, 12 trades, and a bad taste.

    1. am going to wait until the teams are dropped and do as little as I can to get 18 on this week. The next couple of byes shouldn’t be so bad (with or without Dusty next week).
OUT this week: Yeo, Simpson, Macrae, Mitchell, Fyfe, Martin, Cripps, McLean, Sicily (and maybe Laird and Coniglio too); potentially 11 premos!
Leaves me with 8 premos and a pile of sh1te onfield!

  40. 16 trades left.
    15 players available.

    Do I:
    T/U: Keefe -> Austin
    Barry -> Ahern
    Dusty -> Oliver
Giving me 18 playing and 4 more premos to get a full squad

    Or

    T/D: Keefe -> Austin
    Coffield -> Mihocek
    Barry -> Ahern
Giving me 17 players and 4 more premos to get a full squad but I keep Dusty

  41. DEF – Lloyd, Webster, Laird, Yeo, Simpson, Hibberd (Duman, Keeffe)
MID – Macrae, Fyfe, Mitchell, Cripps, Coniglio, Martin, Walters, Holman (Higgins, Phillips, Barry)
    RUC – Gawn, Nankervis (Olango)
FWD – McLean, Heeney, Sicily, Smith, Taranto, Fritsch (Langdon, Spargo)

Players out – Laird, Yeo, Simpson, Keeffe, Macrae, Fyfe, Mitchell, Cripps, Coniglio, Martin, Barry, Olango, McLean, Sicily

The good season I’ve been waiting for, is now crucified. I think whatever trades I make isn’t going to change my situation. Bugger off Supercoach, goodbye!
