  1. Sloane in for Oskar Baker and Setterfield out for Chol, allowing me to go Burgess to Hurn next week.

    1. Hey Troo Roo. I’m a tiges fan but not sure on Chol. Pros are he’s cheap at 102k and has a tonne in his cycle another two weeks. Cons are that he’s likely to be dropped within a week or so, especially with guys like Jack Riewoldt, Nank and Higgins due back. Also playing for tiges I’m pretty sure we have alot of early games so no good as a floating donut. I’m thinking of getting a DPP player with late games like Carlton or WC. Might be Moore beneficial than a 160k Chol that isn’t playing. Just food for thought. I’m a lil torn.

    2. In some ways agree with Flying Scotsman.

GraPol posted some very interesting thoughts on Chol in the Tigers GameChat this week which would definitely be worth checking out.

If you have enough trades to get him in and out for a quick $130k then it may be worth it. If you don’t need the cash, don’t have the trades or are set FWD for the year then it’s probably not worth it.

      Good luck whatever you decide.

By example, I have 9 trades left and won’t be downgrading again to a moneymaker as I won’t be able to utilise it. Upgrades and loopholes only. Tigers are pretty good for loopholes right now, but won’t be come the pointy end. Worth considering, if he ends up not playing and you don’t have the trades to (utilise) do anything about it 🙂

  2. So I am at full premo, except for Worpel, who despite a score of 91 has proven he isn’t a premo. I have 4 trades left.

    Do I:

T/U: Trade Worpel to an actual premo who has slumped in price a bit (I have my eye on Hawkins)

T/D: Saves the trades for injuries.

    1. Definitely not with 4 trades left. Take the 80 – 90 points per week and assess later as a luxury option

  3. As long as Gawn is okay, I can forge ahead this week and go Setterfield -> Chol and Setterfield – > T. Kelly.

    1. Hey mate. I wrote some comments on TrooRoo’s post regarding Chol. Interested in your savvy thoughts…

      1. Yeah, just read your response to TR. Compelling and duly noted.

Truth be told, looking for any downgrade this week and Chol seems to have decent-ish JS. He held his spot with Soldo returning and guys like Baker, Naish, Balta and Higgins were omitted ahead of him. Also played well today.

Gra Pol also offered the following insight in favour of Chol:

“Something is up. The richmond podcast I listen to said the club is sending Balta back into the reserve to learn how to play the intercepting defending in their defence. (He trained with the forwards group over the preseason).

I suspect they liked having a back up ruck in balta but now they need him permanently, (garthwaite isn’t ready) down back, so they want a ruck/foward.

Lynch was supposed to get a game off this season, that was the plan the club has said but riewolt went down.

I suspect when riewolt is back we’ll see him and Chol play forward for a game while Lynch gets a week off. And the team needs to get use to playing with two keyforwards so Chol and Lynch for now and Chol and Riewolt for a game after that”

Again, looking for any downgrade. Would have preferred Kyron Hayden, but it looks like he’s done his Achilles- so, Chol seems like the next best. We’ll see come Thursday team sheets and chatter over the week.

        1. Fair points to consider. I still think his JS is poor but who’s isn’t. For me i think a late game floating donut is better but still pondering. What do i know – still considering Hannebery. Lol. Hayden has killed me. I might get Mosquito in a week or two. Need a cheap mid/fwd loophole. Or i will look at another player similar. Gets hard this time of year. Down top 9 trades! Argh

  4. Matthew Parker > Chol

My second trade will have to wait until Saturday.

I’m gonna loophole Chol, if he scores well, I’m upgrading Brodie Smith.

If Chol scores poorly, I’m upgrading Will Setterfield.

I have 200K to play with here, should be fun.

    What would you guys do??

Thanks SCT! any help would be great! 🙂 🙂

    1. Duursma has to go. Clark can stay for a while now. Gardner is a decent loophole.
I’d wait til Wed/Thurs for news updates and team drops before deciding.
Whatever happens, Gardner should prove a decent loophole to maximise DEF points until you get one/two more premos.

  6. Duursma out – Hurn in
If Cripps is not named next week then he’s out too. Either Parker or Sloane come in (Bont and Cunnington are also options).
Before trades this week I have 8 left and $220k bank.
Current team after Hurn trade is:
Def: Lloyd, Whitfield, Hurn, Laird, Crisp,Ryan (Logue, Gardner)
Mid: Macrae, Jelly, Fyfe, Cripps, Neale, Taranto, BCrouch, Brayshaw (Clarke, Bewley, Hayes)
    Ruc: Gawn, Grundy (Sweet)
Fwd: Danger, Marshall, Boak, Kelly, Heeney, Greene (Begley, Corbett)
Sitting @ 387 overall and projected for 2600+ next week.

    11

    1
      1. He’s right up there. Could be worth 60pts/wk til he’s back AND a better POD.
Will Cripps be banging out 130+ from game one back? Whereas Cunnington/Bont/Parker (in no particular order) may do it every week from here!
        Could make all the difference!?
Good luck whatever you decide Stewy.

  7. Currently have Lloyd, Williams, Laird, Logue, Duursma and Hore (Whitfield, Gardner). Trading out Duursma and Hore this week for Hurn and someone else to finish defence:

    T/U – Sicily
    T/D – Luke Ryan

    10

    15
    1. Hurn yes.

I’d wait on the other if you have premo positions on other lines to fill?! Both will fall again over the next week or two. Or find yourself a POD and bank some cash, eg Aliir, if he’s gonna have RUC duties for the next few weeks.

      8

      2
  8. Lost a bit of faith in B.Smith.
    What’s the best approach?

    TU – Setterfield > T.Stewart (via DPP)
leaving either B.Smith or Logue @ D6, the other on the bench.

    TD – B.Smith > T.Stewart
leaving Logue @ D6 and Setterfield on the forward bench for another week.

  9. Have 320 k in bank and can go Williams for Duursma and Neale/ Sloane for Stack. Good trades yes or no. ?

Please comment on choosing Neale or Sloane. ? Who is best for the remaining 8 weeks.

Makes me full premo in back line, 1 premo needed in mids and 7 trades left.

    22

  10. I only have $520k for a mid. Who will go bigger rest of year?
    T/U Rocky?
    T/D MCrouch?
    (Or comment for another option.)

    7

    41
  11. Final forward spot.

Current lineup is Danger, Kelly, Cameron, Heeney, Boak and Baker.

Have 576k to spend and no way to get enough for Dunkley.

    T/U Baker > Marshall
    T/D Baker > Walters
    Comment another option.

    Cheers

  12. Final mid option so..
    Brayshaw to;
    TU: Treloar
    TD: Sloane

Not worried about tags for home an away season

    31
  13. For those looking for quick cash on Chol:

    Scores 40 in each game
    after 2 more games = 185K
    after 3 more games = 188k

    Scores 60 in each game
    after 2 more games = 204K
    after 3 more games = 223k

    Scores 80 in each game
    after 2 more games = 2234K
    after 3 more games = 258k

    Has GCS, GWS then Port.

    8

    2
  14. Looking for a cheap mid under 525k, bummed I couldn’t pull the trigger last week on Treloar or Sloane, but didnt have the funds. Got the choice now of some seasoned veterans in pendles and kennedy who are solid PODs but might get a rest and have tough-ish runs home; Crouch who has a great floor but is in a lot of the top teams; and Dusty who has some decent form behind him, while Richmond will look to make their run now theyve got blokes back in. Think this is the toughest trade decision of my year so far.
    Tu: pendlebury
    Td: jpk
    Comment: mcrouch or dusty

  15. Anyone considering Dane Rampe?
    Thinking of going…..
    – B.Smith > D.Rampe

    Gives me a backline of…
Lloyd, Rampe, Hurn, Williams, Houli, Logue

& will upgrade Logue > Whitfield once his price drops in a few weeks.

    $253,600 left in bank & 9 trades.

TU- Yes, do it. He has good 3rd and 5rd avg.
TD – No, get someone cheaper like Stewart or Ryan.

    6

    17
  16. 9 trades left. Playing for league and H2H wins.

    If Cripps misses again….straight into:

    TU: Neale
    TD: Yeo
    Comment other?

    11

    1
    1. Cripps himself reckons he’ll be back for round 17 for sure. No guarantees of course, but you’ve already held him one week – will one more kill you?

In these situations, I’d recommend a) looking at your league opponent, and b) holding off on the trade til the last minute.

West Coast play late Saturday night, Carlton and Brisbane on Sunday. You don’t have to do the trade until about 5pm on Saturday at the earliest, and if your preference is Neale (who is also my preference of the two options) then you can wait til Sunday arvo. Wait and see how the H2H is shaping up, and how your midfield emergency scores. If the trade is the difference between winning and losing, there’s a stronger case to pull the trigger. If you’re winning or losing regardless of the trade, better to hold off.

    1. Luxury trade.

If you’ve got 6+ trades left and your team is set – go for it.

If you’ve still got rookies on field they should take priority, or if you’re low on trades then you need to take a deep breath and remember there are still 8 weeks to go.

Those premos you don’t have who are scoring well are perfectly good options to trade in IF one of your other premos gets injured.

      3

      0
  17. Hope this isnt confusing.
Have Hore & Smith in the backline, ideally want to move both on. Don’t have Whtifield or Lloyd. Also have one premo in the mid left to get.
My Top 3 premo mids incl Cripps, Bont, Neale
Top 3 def premos Hurn, Williams, Laird

TU: Get Whitfield+Lloyd cheap in 1-2 weeks then a final mid 500-530k
TD: Bring in Stewart, Whitfield OR Lloyd, aim for Josh Kelly in mids.

    2

    5
    1. Plan it out – forecast what your bench players will make (then subtract $25k as a buffer in case they have an off week), work out if you WILL have enough for Kelly. If the answer is no, or “maybe, if I’m lucky”, then focus on the backline. If you can 100% get Kelly, Stewart and Whitfield/Lloyd, then that’s certainly a strong option.

      5

      0
  18. Currently have 3 trades left at full premo,
Is it worth making another trade in the next week or two in order to bring Whitfield back into my side?

Tu; Get Whitfield in (leaves me with 2 trades)

Td; Hold off, save trades for injurys.

    Feedback appreciated.

    3

    27
    1. Once Whitfield comes back, he is likely to have two price drops as his last score was a 65. Last injury update had him 2 weeks away, GWS being GWS, they may play it conservatively and make sure he’s 100% so they don’t break him again before finals.

Means minimum 3 weeks before he’s likely to be at his ideal price to bring in, potentially longer.

If you can get through that time without making any other trades, perhaps he’s worth bringing in just before finals. Don’t need to make the decision now.

  19. Question for the wise SCT community about how the sub is used.
I had Clarke (63) and Bewley (41) on the bench.
Ended up getting Bewley as my sub for Cripps.
Cost me a win…after putting the (c) on Gawn as well!!
    How does this work?

    2

    0
    1. Haysie did you have the emergency on both?
When you do this, it takes the lower-emergency score 🙁

      3

      0
    2. You get your lowest playing emergency score on that line.

Midfield bench, three players. Emergency (60), Emergency (40), Emergency (DNP) – you get the 40.

Never a good idea to have two emergencies on the same line unless you have multiple outs. Just back in the one emergency you think has the better scoring potential.

      5

      0
  20. Hore -> Hurn

Reckon that’ll do me for this week.

Lloyd, Hurn, Laird, Williams, Smith, Moore (Logue, Gardner)
Macrae, Kelly, Neale, Cripps, Fyfe, Bont, Oliver, Crouch (Baker, Bewley, Hately)
    Grundy, Gawn (Bines)
Danger, Boak, Kelly, Daniel, Heeney, Gray (Begley, Young)

8 trades and not much bank.

Game clear in my cash league, let the bench boys make some more cash and wait for Whitfield to come back and drop in price. Begley to Whitfield via Moore is the aim.

Will keep half an eye on Luke Ryan, reckon he might be a short jump up from Smith in a couple of weeks which could be worth a look.

    2

    1
  21. Hore to…
    T/U – Crisp
    T/D – Salem

Logue to Whitfield after his price drop gives me full premo with 5 trades left

    10

    4
    1. Tough one to split.

Feel like Crisp is the “safer” pick as he’s got a better history of SC scoring.

Salem seems to be in a decent run of form though.

I’m a little bit conservative by nature, so I’d personally go Crisp. But Salem offers a lot of upside as a POD, if you feel like your team needs it.

      2

      0
    1. Hmm. Tough pill to swallow, Jake. How many trades do you have to be sideway trading premos at this stage? Are you at full premo?

      1

      0
  22. Bittersweet trade….ROB out for Grundy. Tough letting go of what is now my all time favourite rookie, but Grundy is still probably worth an extra 20-30 pts p/w.
5 trades & $128K left in the bank and Hore is the only rookie left on field. Hoping the gap between Hore & Whitfield narrows to sub 128K, but not liking my chances.

    4

    1
    1. Tough one…I have Gawn and Rob. If gawn misses….and he couldnt jump over a jam tin late against brisbane, I’m thinking gawn to grundy. Dees have no reason to play unfit players.

      1

      0
  23. R. Young -> Chol
    Hore -> Stewart/Laird/Rich

8 Trades left, full premo in 2 weeks with ROB to Whit, playing for overall

    TU: Do it
    TD: Hold off

    13

    3
  24. TU: Clarke to Sloane, Hore to Hurn
TD: Baker to Sloane, Bewley to Chol

I still have Greene to upgrade. Option 1 leaves me with no bank, while option 2 leaves me with $250k but Hore still to upgrade.

    9

    1
      1. 6, was planning to go Duursma to Hurn this week to go full premo but now feel like I might have to use both

        0

        0
          1. I wouldn’t say ‘solid’ but is probably ok if you have decent bench cover with solid JS on each line (include using DPPs in this consideration).

Personally I’d do it because I wouldn’t mind the risk of 4 trades left at this juncture, but it is just that. A risk.

            Good luck whatever you decide.

            2

            1
  25. R Young > Chol
    Duursma> Neale
Leaves me 8 trades and Logue

    Tu:Yes go for it.
    Td:No have a rethink.

  26. So us owner of Caleb Daniel might be out for 3-4 week hamstring injury if he doesn’t get through training he won’t be playing.

TU: Its bad news to hear for him but trade him out

    TD: Hold

    17

    1
  27. Is Aliir a decent POD pick now that he will be getting RUC minutes due to Sinclair getting injured???

    T/U – Yes
    T/D – No

    6

    4
    1. We need more info, but potentially. They may bring in their mid-season draftee RUC.
Could be the newbie, could be him and Reid sharing it, or any combo of the above. I’d wait until we hear more from Horse, Sydney and finally, teamdrops before taking such a punt.
If all looks good, could be a great move if you have a rookie you want rid of and don’t have the cash for a genuine premo (or allows for two up in two trades), that sort of thing.

      1

      0
  28. Setters to Chol, Daniel to dunkley.

Enough cash left to upgrade smith to any defender next week.

After all that, full prem with 4 trades left.

    Pray for me

    6

    3
    1. If you have a mid-rookie who is fat enough to go, I’d probably use him rather than Setters for my Chol move.
He basically has solid JS, won’t make much more, but scores well enough/ish to be decent cover for MID/FWD lines later.
With 4 trades left he could be valuable insurance!

      2

      1
  29. cripps/gawn/danger……juggling how many trades left……why would anyone even think about possible trades before selections this week ??

    1

    0
  30. Held off making any trades last week to assess rd 15 round but was thinking Hore to Hurn – easy right- not so sure now
    T/ u Hore to Hurn
T/ d Duursma to Rich/Stewart and Billings to Sloane via Danger

    1

    5
        1. I’m 8k short in Marshall with one trade. If I use the 2 trades I’ll have 3 trades left at full premo

          0

          3
  31. TU: Bont
    TD: Neale
Not to sway anybody but Bont has his next 4 games at Marvel were he averages 124 this year!

    2

    7
  32. Which way to go, need a forward
    T/U Marshall
    T/D Lycett
Looking at Whitfield after second round back to take Answorth spot (yes still got him) 12 trades left $280K in the bank
Looking at cash generation to go into finals
Projected score this week without trades 2415 so that will be about 2200 if your lucky

    4

    3
    1. That’s a lot of trades. If you have RUC cover (eg ROB) or,
Gawn and Bines, I’d wait for team news on Gawn before deciding. If Gawn is OUT, you own him and you have no RUC cover, I’d go Lycett.
Otherwise Marshall every day of the week.

      2

      0
  33. Thoughts on who should I set my sights on for a Daniel trade?
Currently looking at Dunkley, Marshall, Lycett and Ziebell.

    0

    0
    1. I think dunkley is a must have. Expensive right now though.
Take Marshall at the price. Then get dunkley when you can

Then I would only get lycett as Gawn cover if required after selections

      1

      2
  34. Best fwd option for 450k???
(Mundy, hawkins, cameron, de goey, worpel)

Playing for overall, leaning towards worpel as he seems the most consistent of the bunch. Thoughts?

    2

    0
    1. Mundy is a nice price but will he return to early season scoring…that is the question.

I would take Greene for under 400k . He looks ready to go on a run and can be a keeper or a easy trade letter to a 500k fwd

    1. If chol holds spot…

      Daniel to fyfe via setters
Then run with chol on field against suns and the game or 2 after if he survives.

Trade setter to heeney next week
