Trade Talk Rd18

How many of you still have trades? Holding tight in case of a late out or you just can’t hold a “premium” any longer?

  1. I’ve got 1 trade left. My weakest player is Simpkin. I’d love to sideways, but they play the first game of the round. Too risky. Plenty to ponder!

  2. I’ll need to replace Docherty, but am also pretty keen to get rid of Simpkin. Only have $60k(ish) in the bank, so to upgrade doc to a premium would mean holding Simpkin and downgrade draper. So my question is, which combo scores more points this weekend:

    TU – Simpkin & Stewart/Ryan
    TD – Petracca & Hartlett

    Cheers

      1. Yeah, that’s a good one, but I have Walters. Doesn’t look to be much more value sround there. I’ll keep messing around with it.
Current defenders are: Lloyd, Laird, Daniel,Haynes, doc, Ridley
fwds – Whitfield, Walters, Greenwood, Martin, Simpkin, b smith
        Cheers

  3. What do we think about Z William for docherty as only have 460k in bank and last trade

TU: Yeah get him in hes got a high ceiling and gws will need to be saints
TD: Play rivers instead and trade someone in for simpkin

    1. Not a bad option. Williams seems to be scoring better with Phil Davis out of the side, at Hayne’s expense. He did need two goals last week to only just crack the 100 though.

      1. Williams was getting centre bounces and playing more forward than usual last week, nothing to do with Haynes low score. Different player to Davis/Haynes, they dont really impact him

  4. I still have JMartin to deal with, plus Docherty, so I think my outs will be forced unless one of them miraculously gets up. I’m going to bring in Petracca for the forward spot but have two options for my final trade:

T/U: Bring in Lloyd. This leaves S. Hill / Riccardi / Mosquito to cover F6 (I can loophole Riccardi or Mosquito if either is named).

T/D: DPP magic to bring in any mid (shift BSmith forward). This leaves S. Hill / Greaves to cover D6 (I can loophole Greaves if named).

    Current team:
    DEF: Laird / Stewart / Ridley / Docherty / ZWilliams / BSmith
    // Greaves / O’Connor (D/F)
MID: Neale, Macrae, Oliver, Titch, Cripps, Duncan, JPK, BSmith
    // Schoenberg / Loophole / Loophole
RUC: Gawn / Grundy // Xerri
    FWD: Brayshaw / Whitfield / Greenwood / DSmith / JMartin / S. Hill
    // Riccardi / Mosquito.

Thanks in advance for the votes or any tips…

    1. Mozzie did an ACL 2 weeks back so he won’t be any help.

Greaves seems like good cover so maybe err on that option.

Although GWS play early in the round so you can get a look at their team to see if Riccardi is playing too.

  5. Current backline, Ridley, Haynes, Laird, Stewart, Daniel and Doc. ( Greaves).
Can’t afford Lloyd but have $552,000 to spend. Thinking Ryan, but being last round anything goes.
In the GF for the Main comp. Anyone better to select than Ryan?

    1. Crisp is in good form and just within your budget. Otherwise you could get in Luke McDonald, been scoring over 100 regardless of North being on the front foot or not.

      2

    1. Steele is a good tagger himself and you’d think better at handling a tag – knowing the tactics. I’d expect DeBoer to go to the next MVP that he can shutdown. Also if he did go to Steele I’d expect Steele to then apply a tag on Jelly or Cogs making it all rather messy.

      1

      -1
    1. Bailey Smith. Though you could also consider Cogs – given the dropping and the media coverage – I’d expect him to come back big – getting lots of support from his team.

      1. Yeah Houli is another great option, already got Daniel im in the 500K budget so there is good cheap budget defenders

  6. One trade left and $185K in the kitty (due to a stupid miscalculation). Holes at F6 (currently Coleman) and D6 (currently Docherty).

Current plan is to bench Docherty and see who out of Greaves & Scholl performs better (bench cover in DEF is way better than FWD). Then use the kitty and upgrade Mosquito to someone like Acres or Dixon at F6 who could go big in the last round and is in reasonable form.

    TU: Solid Plan
    TD: Just upgrade Docherty, moron!

    1. If you’re stuck at that 350k budget, I’d go for Charlie Cameron. Should have a field day against a deflated, Docherty-less Blues side.

  7. Hi all,

First time poster – first time grand finalist.

    Have a team of:

DEF: L.Ryan, Mcdonald, Ridley, Docherty (OUT), Day, McKay. Bench: Sholl, Watson

MID: Bont, Oliver, Neale, Fyfe, Adams, McCluggage, Cripps, McInerney. Bench: O’Neill, Budarick, Foot

    RUCK: Grundy, O’Brien

Forward: Whitfield, Andy Brayshaw, D.Martin, B.Smith, D.Smith, B.Acres. Bench: Close, Coleman.

Got 113k in the bank. Rocking quite a few PODs vs my grand final opponent. He’s got Gawn, Steele, Petracca, Simpkin, Conigs, Viney, Laird, J.Lloyd, Macrae, Houston. vs my Adams, Bont, Acres, Fyfe, McCluggage, Day, Smith, McDonald, O’Brien.

Schoenberg, Sholl, Wicks and a few other potential scorers on the bench.

I’m thinking double trade in defence. Docherty and McKay out, for:

    Crisp and Rivers (D6).

Or any defender (Lloyd?) and a non-playing Port defender (cos Monday game) to loophole Sholl into Watson…

Or Docherty out, port player in: Day (D4), Sholl (D5), loop McKay into Watson… and turn O’Neill into any mid, and loop McInerney into Adams, just cos I can.

    Thanks,
    BV

    1. Hey, BV.

How about the following set of trades:

      Doch -> Rich
      McInerney -> T. Kelly

Think you’ve got you have a high ceiling premo M8 to, especially since your GF opponent has Steele, Macrae and Racca as PODs – so T. Kelly v Roos sorts that out.

You’ll then have two of Day, Sholl, McKay or Watson and D5/6, which is honestly fine as they should deliver on their averages and combine for 130~.

From there, just nail your captaincy picks (article out Thursday) and hope your PODs fire!

Best of luck, hope to see you around next year.

      1. Interesting take GD, thanks for the advice. T.Kelly went big last week but he’s not a fan of a B2B performance this year! I could DPP and get a forward in, such as Liam Ryan? That frees up 50k down back to get a Tom Barrass/Liam Duggan. Go big on the Weagles?

        Thanks in advance,

        BV

  8. First time into my league gf with $500 on the line
Two trades left but only $12,800 is cash
DEF: Lloyd, Stewart, Saad, Rivers, Docherty, Witherden. Emg: T. Watson, B Williams.
MID: M Crouch, Steele, Macrae, Dangerfield, Lyons, Mitchell, Dumont, Viney. Emg: Mitch Hibberd, Ruscoe, Robertson.
RUCK: Gawn, Nic Nat. Emg: Conroy.
FWD: Whitfield, Petracca, Simpkin, McAdam, Rankine, Close. Emg: Riccardi, Taylor.

TU: Get rid of both Docherty and Witherden and leave Watson as emergency.
TD: Get rid of Witherden (higher price than Doc), bring Watson in, and try to upgrade the forward line somehow?

  10. Hey everyone, just wanted to post before I forget. I’m relatively new to SuperCoach and don’t get anywhere near the scores of some of you but I find this website really helpful with friendly people (especially GBD) thank you to everyone for tips and trades that I wouldn’t have thought of otherwise. Enjoy the last round and finals if your team is playing! Good luck and no doubt see most of you next year! Take care.

  11. Two trades left. Playing for overall and hopefully my best rank yet. Doc and Jack Martin out and with bank have 930k.

TU: Barrass and L Ryan as Eagles will run over North. Issue is if there are outs in games later in the round.

TD: Daniel and either Walters/N Anderson and can make my trades Saturday after teams come out for Sunday.

  12. In my first GF thanks to the awesome tips from you all, trading out Docherty & Wicks.

$110k in the bank gives me a total of $822,400 to work with.

TU: Riewoldt & Z. Williams (DPP)
    TD: B. Acres & S. Collins

Comment for any better combo suggestions.

Thanks SCT! One win to go!

  17. Currently have Lloyd, Stewart, Ridley, May, Haynes and Doc (T Watson, B Williams). Needing to move Doc with my last trade, can get anyone
    Tu: laird
    Td: Daniel
    Comments: Ryan/Crisp

  18. Tu: Greenwood
    Td: Hawkins
Geelong play Sydney which leans me towards Hawkins, but Greenwood seems safer. However other bloke I’m playing has Greenwood

  21. Any ideas on the better option? Sitting 4K and in no finals, so aiming for best possible rank

T/U – Nic Nat & Doc to Gawn & Quaynor. I’d loop my D6 between Rivers & Quaynor
T/D – Doc & Simpkin to Rich & Liam Ryan. Again high risk, high reward option.

Comments – Doc & Draper to Laird & Rookie

  22. Have one trade left, No cash in the bank, only weak links are Simpkin F6 and Williams D6.
No idea what to do if anything.

T/U: Do nothing, hold the trade all weekend in case of a late out
T/D: Trade Simpkin to Jack Martin and then hold on for the ride all weekend…

    Going for overall

Open to any sort of commentary and suggestions too!

    Cheers Community!

  23. 1 trade left, have 70,000 in the kitty…

    Who to upgrade:

    TU: Goldy into ROB
    TD: Simpkin into someone?

Only other position in need is D6 which is Cottrell/Greaves loophole at the moment

    2

    4
  24. This will make the difference…

TU: Coniglio to Lyons and keep Greaves at D6

TD: Greaves to Rich and keep Coniglio at M8

I’m thinking I can trust Greaves
