Trade Talk Rd6 – PART TWO

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 24 2019

So much Trade Talk for such a quick turnaround. With the Rolling Lockout, trading can still take place after the first game. So who are you taking out? Who needs to come in this week?

  1. I’ve heard these are the two with the safer-looking JS… if you had to take just one, though, regardless of price or position:

    T/U: Jack Ross
    T/D: Liam Baker

  2. Tu Does Darling need to go?
    Or
TD now that he has already dropped 90k do we suffer through until he puts together a few good games?

  3. 26 trades left so I only want to do maximum 1 trade this week. 242k in the bank.

Do I upgrade Sheed to Macrae or Boak or make money via Ross?

    TD – Ross

  4. Looking at getting Kelly,Bont and Hurn in the next 3 weeks but there are two paths I can take.
TU Path 1. Double downgrade this week getting both Ross and Baker then double upgrade next week and one upgrade the following week.Pros bigger bank builder 5 trades. Cons miss out on Hately.
TD Path 2.one up one down for the next 3 weeks- Pros probably score more this week cons miss out on Ross and use 6 trades.

  5. TU
Butters to baker and Clark to Lockhart and duursma is swung mid and Moore fwd

Next week swing duursma back and go Moore to Hatley then burgo/Scott to Hayes

    Week after

    Parker to T Kelly
    Scrim to prem def

    TD
    Parker to baker
Week after get in Hateley and Hayes then only one upgrade the week after

I’m worried about not upgrading fast enough so leaning towards option 1

  6. I have 29 trades and not much in the bank so I am looking to make some downgrades over the next few weeks. I am currently nearly locking in Baker for Parker with his potential high scoring that may be valuable on field. Is it still wise to trade Scott for Ross or is it better to hold a week for Hayes/Hately?
TU: Scott and Parker- Ross and Baker
    TD: Parker- Baker

    1. When Crouch gets injured….otherwise no time soon.

Only as a luxury towards the end of the season unless they put Crouch in a back pocket and his scoring falls off a cliff!

  7. Parker to Baker is locked in

However I was thinking for those of us who have Burgess is it worth just keeping him on the bench as a loophole while we wait for a good rookie option to arise in the backline??

If you have Burgess & Moore in the FWDs then I think Burgess can be traded to Baker if you want.

    Food for thought

    1. If he’s dropped, he’s not going to hurt on the bench till a downgrade is on the bubble. Can be both a c and emerg loop. Provides great dpp options.

      4

    2. Im holding Burgess whether he gets dropped or not. DPP with Moore is a bonus and another captaincy loophole isnt a bad thing if he is dropped.

  8. I want to downgrade parker to baker. My only concern is that parkers scoring started quite similar to bakers. If baker was sub 120k it would be a no brainer for me, but downgrading parker to baker now doesn’t net you a great deal of cash, and if bakers scores start to come back like parkers have, then we aren’t getting close to what we would hope to nett for 2 trades.

    Am i overthinking this?

    2

    3
    1. I was actually just re-checking Bakers expected price movement & he is only expected to rise 100k before slowing down considerably. That does concern me as he is scoring really well.

Think I will make the trade but little more to think about

      0

      2
      1. From what I saw from last week’s match, Ross to me looked the more likely player.More powerfully built, gets amongst it and gets plenty of possession. Baker on the other hand is slight , an outside player and ends up scoring more than both Stack and Ross. Tells me he seems to have a SC friendly game, scores more with less possession and probably less clangers. He is also less likely to be challenged by Cotchins return. That’s why I went him instead of Ross.

        5
      2. Yes your correct, but his scoring projections for the next 3 rounds is 58 each round. I think is very achievable .

  10. Trade out Parker for Worpel or Caleb Daniel?
And Rozee for forward dpp to Baker or back dpp to lockhart?

    2

    0
  11. Brad Crouch out
    Ricky Henderson in

Looks like at least getting me an extra 10+ points per game, have too many mids averaging around 100, would normally hold but seeing at I have enough trades, and henderson will rise in price while crouch is almost about to hit his max price, seem a worthy punt to me

    1

    28
    1. Or trade beams to henderson instead as he looks likely to be around the 100 mark too for the rest of the season in that stacked collingwood midfield. Will save me around 50-60k for the same score (side note: i know its a slight sideways trade but at this point I have all my rookies firing and increasing in price, and the main issue affecting my scoring is having too many average scoring mids around the 100 mark

      1

      9
      1. He also got above 25ish disposals on only 2-3 occasions last season but has already done that 4/5 rounds this year, and Tom Mitchell is out for the season

  12. Who out for Lockhart?

    TU – Clark
    TD – Wagner

If Clark, I can turn Parker into Daniel/Billings.

    If Wagner, it’ll be Parker-Worpel.

    TU: Moore to TKelly

Westhoff gives me a deeper forward line overall but just not sure if he will be top forward by end of year

  14. Decided to make a few trades this week.
I’m really bullish on Caleb Daniel, I’m loving his consistency and for the mean time his a bit of a point of difference.

    Out – Burgess & Parker
    In – Daniel & Baker

  15. Posted this in the last trade talk, but I’ll re-post it here where there’s more activity.

Looking to trade out Rozee for Tim Kelly. Will fall a few thousand short, so a downgrade has to happen for this.

The only rookie I have whose time has come to be downgraded is Parker. Can gain about $50,000 by trading to Baker. Or, trade down to Bines and gain around $110,000. This would then allow me to trade out O’Brien to a Forward later in the season, and send Bines up to R3 then.

Should I go for Bines, or am I overthinking it and just trade in Baker.

TU: Rozee/Parker to T.Kelly/Bines. Net Loss of $46,300
TD: Rozee/Parker to T.Kelly/Baker. Net Loss of $106,000

    1. Kev do you have a floating donut currently (other then possibly setters this week)? Also what does your forward line look like with Kelly in?

Personally Id be going Bines as eventually you are trading out O’Brien (as am I) you will need someone to go into the ruck to replace him. In which case you will need a double trade (1 for O’Brien to a Ruck and 1 for the upgrade where ever else). In this case Bines is the better option as you can move him into O’Briens spot and then upgrade a forward (or anywhere else depending on DPP at the time) with only 1 trade.

Im thinking of bringing in T.Kelly this week also but I’m also balancing out if he will cop a Hutchings tag this week in which case he may drop in price (BE is over 100 by memory).

If you wait a week you might be able to make the trade with just Rozee if Kelly drops enough.

      2

      0
      1. Apart from Setterfield, I do have Corey Wagner from Melbourne as a floating donut. But he’s not valuable in that role for most weeks due to Melbourne’s scheduling (such as this week). And there’s every chance in the future he comes back into the side.

With Kelly, my forward line would be:
        Dangerfield-Heeney-Kelly-Worpel-Moore-Drew (Setterfield-Bines).

I’m hoping that Selwood will be the one tagged by Hutchings this week.

Rozee’s BE is now in the 70s if I am not mistaken, which he may not reach.

        0

        1
        1. I hope you are right with Selwood and the tag. Id say go Kelly and Bines then with your forward line provided everyone is named as Baker wont be needed for cover and Bines may make you more points with the loophole depending on your selections anyway. And most important only one trade later when O’Brien is ready to go (trades are gold).

  16. I want to get rid of Dom Sheed before he goes down anymore. With Gaff back, he won’t be able to produce the same scores as without Gaff.
$566k to spend, and mainly looking to bring in either:

    TU: Josh Kelly

    TD: Dylan Shiel

    Comment: Trealor

Please feel free to suggest any other options (already have kelly and libba around that price point). Thanks

  17. Sorry for the long post. Just a little lost, what do you guys think is the next best moves. 151k in the bank

    DEF – Whitfield – Hurn – Williams – B.Smith – Collins – Duursma (Scrimshaw Clarke)

    MID – Cripps – Neale – Coniglio – Brayshaw – Libba – Walsh – Butters – Constable (Stack – Atkins – Scott)

RUCK – Grundy – Gawn (ROB)

    FWD – Danger – Heeney – Kelly – Moore – Drew – Petrecelle (Parker – Setterfield)

    This week I’m thinking

Clarke – Lockhart (only D8 and DEF/MID could be handy plus I’m thinking Clarke won’t earn too much more)

Next Week – Hately – Scott
    Collins or Scrimshaw – Lloyd

    2

    1
    1. Mat.

I think you maybe trying to go a little early on Lloyd. He is still going to be around $600k and you will use all too many down grades to get in one player.

You have a very solid back line already.

Whitfield and Hurn are killing it, and Williams and Smith are more than holding their own.

Scrimshaw and Collins could easy go 75+ again, meaning they will continue to make cash.

Clark may not make too much more cash and, Lockharts JS may not be that bad with Jetta going to miss for a while. Not a fool proof trade but it may work out.

I would then look to next week..

Depending on how they go, I would maybe downgrade Butters to either Hatley or Hayes and upgrade Parker to a premo Forward.

Alternatively…… you could also downgrade Parker to Baker this week.

This would give you the option to target either Fyfe or Oliver ( both could be close to $550K ) next week.

Best of luck whatever you decide. 🙂

    2. IMO only one you need is the popular Parker/Baker trade. Many other posts comment that Lockhart would be a wasted trade. Clarke may be managed this week, but still hold, more scoring and $$$ to come.
You have a good team, scoring well Id assume, and have really good bench warmers making you nice upgrade $$$ in the weeks to come.

    TU: Solid

    1. Hately defidently has great JS with Ward out for the season hard to see who could take his spot, also on that I think if he was named round 1 he would have been in a lot of teams. Looks really composed, finds the ball & scored well in a loss good signs there.

Hayes I’m not quite sure on JS someone else may have more info on that if there players to return. However, he also looked composed with ball in hand. Noticed he did go missing for most of the 3rd quarter.

      Hope that helps

  24. Trading O’meara to Rockliff this week.
Don’t think O’Meara will end up as a premium mid.
    Was considering Parker to Baker.
But heard that Dunkley might be dropped so I will trade him to T Kelly.
If Dunkley plays I might keep him another week.
But need to make the Baker trade before I know if Dunkley is in.

  27. Not sure if table for 2 is coming out today so thought i’d just leave this here. Thinking of bringing Baker in mainly for points as I don’t think Petruccelle will be kicking 5 goals every week.

    1. I think he’ll score nicely WHEN he plays. Riedwoldt not forcing him out is a good sign but Weller could take his place at any time unfortunately.

His price is mainly what’s throwing me off him.

  29. Have 29 trades left and $81k. Have missed on Hore, but am thinking of getting him in a week late with his js looking like improving. Also think that Baker coould be a decent option in my fwd line, especially having Drew as my f5. Keeping in mind Hately will almost definitely come in next week and Hayes a possibility, i’m not sure if i should use possibly 4 trades in 2 weeks all on dowgrades (most at elevated price). So if that makes sense what do you reckon. Thanks

    1. Did the Cousins to Ross trade but now with Burgess and Clarke (and Watson as non playing M8) out this week, I’m looking at a donut in DEF.
Playing bottom side in main league, only made two trades so far.
Can afford Clarke to $461K in DEF or Butters to $475K via Watson

TU: Clarke or Butters to Witherden/Jones/Sheppard – Are the top 8? Probably not
TU: Trade Clarke or Burgess to Rotham to boost the $$$. This would leave Rotham and Watson as DEF bench.

    2. Hi Hugh,

I don’t have him, but my suggestion would be to hold.

Dunkley is not far off Worpel for total points (SEE: Worpel 475, Dunkley 422; Difference 53). Hardly think one of your 30 trades is worth that at this point of the season. My advice sticks even if he’s dropped for this week (as has been suggested earlier in this thread).

    1. If you think Worpel will be a top 6 FWD do it, otherwise you’d be better off trading for another rookie on the bubble, banking the cash and making a run at someone like Fyfe next week.

      1. Don’t get why these players need to be top 6 at his price top 8-10 is fine, only 2 or so points separate these in any case. The forward line is wide open outside the top 4.
