  1. Going to be trading two of Banfield, Holman, and Barry this week..
Two down or perhaps one up, one down.

Who should I keep from those three?

  2. lads.. top of the evening too you all.. how much of a priority is Nat Fyfe?? stupidity personified by me, I don’t have the kid..

T/U worth a sideways correction trade to bring in, likely (Whitfield) making way

T/D wait till another option presents itself

      1. unfortunately no Zac, blew my entire cap space last week bringing in Hurley and Macrae.. Whitfield is my Mid7 Kelly is Mid8.. only have 8.5k cap space.. not having Fyfe from the get go is on me.. he’s mocking me Nat and rightly so..

  3. Looking to go Holman down to Spargo, and then one of Banfield/Finlayson up to Crouch, depending on how much money I need.

    1. Great question really starting to annoy the big jesus out of me. Was so close to trading Parker to Macrae before the weekend. Ah yep I held onto Parker…that worked out well for me.

    1. Barry not worth a trade. Will make you about 60k, trades are more important than that unless you need a certain amount for an upgrade next week?

      9

      1
  4. Coffield out this week for spargo.
Without seeing the be’s I suspect crouch could wait another week and danger 2.

    10

    4
  5. I’ll hold off for a week (Josh Glenn rule), but who thinks Brayden Crossley could be a worthwhile r3 to replace English?
it nets around 160k and could possibly provide ruck coverage over the bye rounds.

    21

    1. Oscar McInerney might be worth a look this week for the same reason, if he suits your bye rounds

      11

      0
      1. Crossley has the advantage of having played his bye early.

        Mcinerney looks alright though.

  6. got rid of Hibberd before round three, but decided to keep Billing till now. Had all the excuse not to trade him each week (he will score again, already lost money, surely can’t be worse this week…)

TU: no point to trade now, surely cannot get any worse
TD: trade him and move on

    25

    1. Already done. Banfield to Spargo and Billings to Mclean. Will get Gray after his r10 bye, also is 50k more expensive than Mclean (also Mclean plays Brisbane this week), also dpp helps. Nuff said?

    2. What happened with Billings today? Half way through the game he was on fire, yet he somehow managed to end up on 57.

      1

  7. Was seriously looking at Crouch but have T.Kelly at M8 at the moment, a couple of premos not really firing lately(Cogs and Dusty )but I think I will sort out Def first . A few of the good rookies starting to level out. Hawks on the up and Sicily going as well as anyone I think.Buyer beware of course!

  8. Banfield out for Spargo is locked in.
Unsure on who to bring in for S Murray.

    TU: D Zorko
    TD: M Hibberd

    Current on-field def and mid:
    Def: R Laird, M Hurley, K Simpson, J Sicily, T Doedee, S Murray
    Mid: N Fyfe, C Oliver, T Mitchell, D Martin, S Coniglio, J Kelly, T Kelly, J Finlayson

    6

    16
    1. Reckon your mid needs more love than backline.

Not sure Zorko is the right guy.. what about M Crouch?

      20

      1
      1. Started M Crouch and traded him out due to injury in RD2. With the Zorko selection I still have 165,000 left plus 150,000 to 180,000 when Brayshaw is downgraded giving me around 315,000 to 345,000 to bring in R Gray and P Ryder/M Kreuzer for B Fritsch and S Lycett in RD11.

        4

        1
  9. I’ve held Billings all this time, but holy hell he’s doing zero out there. Double downgrade is definitely happening this week, with all the rookies on the bubble, Billings will become one of them!

    21

    1
  10. going one up one down but the question is who to get in

    TU: Macrae in great form
    TD: Crouch at bottom price

    32

    18
    1. I know Macrae has been phenomenal, and he’s a target for me. But I’d love to see how the bloke handles a tag first…

      8

      0
        1. Yeah, fair go. Gotta give the guy credit for a 98 getting belted in Perth, don’t think much of a 4 game old tagger, though.

          5

          2
      1. Gold coast were supposedly a tagging team with Miller. Meant to get more attention with bont out. Good call on that one

        1

        3
          1. Miller didn’t play on him after that … played great and kept him quiet, but it wasn’t really a close tag either …

            0

            0
      2. I didnt get him only cause he has North Melb twice left this season and merrett was cheap. Its seems to be the wrong choice now. So far I think I am regretting the decision but you never know at seasons end.

        0

        1
    2. Macrae will likely balloon in price next week with a BE of 46ish. Get him now or wait til after his bye. With Crouch’s BE almost unchanged, around 180, expect another significant price drop this week unless he produces a howler. Didn’t look close to doing it this week. R14 bye too.
Going Oliver myself despite his decent score this week. R13 bye is the only one that suits me right now. Was otherwise thinking Treloar but would like to see what impact Pendles absence has first. If he’s out for a while.
Danger can wait til Christmas and Crouch til after the byes for me. T Kelly at M8 is hardly a problem.

      5

      2
    1. Why trade out Holman surely someone else can go?
Holman still making money can score high + he’s going to play through the byes trade out round 15 easy days

      12

      1
      1. Likely BEs:
        Doedee 64
        Murray 63
        Murphy -52
        Naughton 29
        Holman 64
        Finlayson 86
        Banfield 61
        Brayshaw 31
        Barry 22
        Kelly T 20
        Fritsch 8
        Fogarty D 16
        Guelfi -27
        Spargo -93
Don’t have any of the others but am sure they’ll be on fanfooty tomorrow. These are my own calculations but shouldn’t be more than 1 or 2 out, max.

        6

        0
        1. But if he scores another 70 this week his b/e drops to ~30. Not so simple. I’d give him one more week, and if pumps put another 30 then trade. If not, could be viable byes backup.

          4

          0
  11. Already went early with Spargo and Danger which worked well, so this week I’ll be looking at Crouch to complete my midfield

    4

    5
  12. Seems like I am in a similar situation to a few here. Have held onto Billings, but really testing my patience! Think I will just ride it out and cross a few fingers and toes that he can hit some form. Likely trades for this week are:
Holman & Banfield to Spargo & Crouch

    15

    4
  13. Billings…

TU: Hold until at least byes. Too late to trade now
TD: Downgrade to rookie or upgrade to Hogan/Darling/etc.

    24

    14
  14. DUSTIN MARTIN is a F L O G !!!!!!
    never again !!!!
sucked me in & cost me 666k & 2 wins
im gna take the 140k loss on that lazy , under achieving , over rated show pony before she goes under 500k & trade in a rookie for the same scores
im sick & tired of lookn at his big , empty , chop stickn head
    top 4 mid , your dreaming ..

    1. easy does it PJ, no need for rash decisions now.. when the red mist clears, you will be thinking, “what was I indeed thinking”.. Dusty is a keeper everyday of the week ending in Y..

      28

    2. C’mon PJ. DON’T do it mate. You know he’ll bash out a 150 if you do! Here’s hoping. Anyway, I reckon that knock to the knee he took a couple of weeks back is still hurting.
      He’ll be back.

        1. Hey Mick
Do you think he’ll get rested or wait til bye? Not trading him, just planning upgrades, ie make MID upgrade priority this week.

  15. Lost my cash league by 1 point so I’ve just managed to calm down and then i had to look at Billings 57. He is absolutely gone.
    This week:
    Banfield to Macrae
    Billings to Spargo

    30

    1
  16. Finlayson to Yeo and Brayshaw to Spargo? Leaves me with $108k in the bank.

    T/U – Yeah sure
T/D – Double down this week and paint the fence/double up next week.

If you smash that thumbs down would you be able to give me some opinions for the double down? Rookies on each line are as follows

Def: Doedee, Finlayson, Murray, Naughton, Mirra, Murphy

Mid: TKelly, Brayshaw, Holman, Clark, Barry

Fwd: Guelfi, Henry, Fritsch (Also have Billings)

    Thanks in advance guys 🙂

    14

    1
        1. Brayshaw too. Looks more comfortable every week and now has a low BE with two scores in a row 10+ above average.

  17. Doing what I should’ve done last week! Only cost me about 300 points…

    Billings to Macrae via Higgins
    Finlayson to Mutch

  18. Long time reader – first time poster – love the thumbs.

Was going to go Crouch then wondered about Oliver and Rd 13 would suit my byes better:

    TU: Crouch
    TD: Oliver

    7

    35
  19. Murray Finlayson doedee naughton with only 3 rookie spots on field.
Is it time to downgrade one of these?
    T/U YES
    T/D NO
    Comment which one please

    11

    17
    1. Did both last week. Christensen was a failed gamble but still managed to make about 95k, which was about 25k short of what Billings had lost to that point!
They lost another total 30k after round 7.

  20. Dam you Robbie Gray for getting suspended for R1, changed over to Billings as his replacement Grrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

    T/U
    Billings < Spargo
    Banfield < M Crouch

    T/D

Ride out the Billings frustration & go the double down…..

    Banfield / Spargo
    Brayshaw / Mutch or Ronke

    Cheers Catta

    1. Agreed re: Robbie Gray. In hindsight, we should have all had a crack at a fancied mid-pricer and if they came good, great. If not, trade to R Gray Rd3. Win-win.

      2

      1. I just started Gray anyway and took the rookie score rd1.

Saved myself a trade and got a gun who will play over the 3 byes

  21. Getting rid of Merritt. Had him from start. At the moment he’s my only reason to watch essendon games and I don’t want to anymore.

    9

    10
    1. +1 not watching anymore bombers games (bombers fan).

Also my reason for getting rid of Billings, and I’ve been much happier with McLean.

      2

  22. Had a gutful of Billings…he’s out for McLean.
Only question is …who’s to make way for Spargo?

    T/U Finlayson (via Sicily)
T/D Holman (also opens M/F dpp link)

  23. Looking to bring in spargo but dont know who to cull Rayner Waterman Holman, Finlayson Higgins, Dow, Fogarty Keefe, Guelfi

  24. TU- Billings and Coffield > McLean and Mutch
TD- Double downgrade Coffield and Holman and hold Billings

    22

    0
    1. If I do ‘TU’, it allows me to trade Holman and Murray to Oliver and a rookie (via Finlayson) next week, which leaves me with T.Kelly at M8, Finlayson at D4 and Fritsch at F6
      TU- Do it
      TD- Not worth it

      14

  25. First trade of the week is Banfield downgrade to Spargo (also opens fwd/mid DPP)

    Need help with second trade.

TU – Holman for any underpriced (under $450k) mids with more to give (Redden, Zorko, Dahlhaus). if this comes good they’d ideally be my end of season M8 after T Kelly upgrade.

    TD – Finlayson for Simpson

Comment – You have 21 trades and $170k in the bank after the Spargo trade, bank it and do something with it next week.

    Current Setup :
D – Laird, Yeo, Sicily, Doedee, Finlayson, Naughton (Mirra, Murphy)
M – Fyfe, Cripps, Titch, Dusty, Oliver, Cogs, T Kelly, Holman (Brayshaw, Banfield, Barry)
    R – Gawn, S Martin (Lavender)
F – Gray, Heeney, McLean, Smith, Fritsch, Henry (Langdon, Fogarty)

  26. This week : Finlayson and banfield out….
Spargo and Kennedy in (be 7)
    7 premo mid + T kelly (walters,holman,brayshaw)
    Backs 4 premo + doedee murray (cole,mirra)
    Fwds 4 premos plus (frisch,spargo,henry,guelfi)
    Next week will be ??
    Want crouch-oliver-r gray soonish

    1. As long as he can keep his head, Sicily every day of the week.

And even then, I’d take Sicily missing a few games this year doing 120 every week vs roller coaster Howe.

      6

      0
  27. Little love for Ronke ? JS the problem possibly.
Sadly no new cows appearing on the backline yet so I think its time to take the plunge on Sicily.
Or trade Petracca/Barry to two of Spargo/Mutch/Ronke ? That would swell war chest to $850 k and allow one fallen prem next week and Gray after his bye.

    2

    0
  28. Thinking spargo and a premo defender in this week (I dont trust mutch’s JS and dont have any forwards to cull for ronke).
Which is the better comho to trade out:
    T/u finlayson and ed richards
    T/d holman and murray

    13

    0
    1. Just realised I’m 1.2k short so it’ll have to be Finlayson instead of Murray. BE of 86. Reckon he’s ripe for the slaughter.

      4

  29. If I can come up with a downgrade target in the defense I can upgrade Holman to Oliver. Anyone have insight on Appleby?

    0

    4
    1. Looked solid but Collingwood just have too many starters coming back in through injury. So JS is iffy for me

      0

      0
    2. It’s one round late, but am seriously still considering Cole. Why?
Couldn’t get him last week with emergency FWD line trades needed
Will likely score close to Finlayson on the field, with cash generation on top
Has a bye that suits me, and finally
Frees up enough cash to give me 3upgrades and 2downgrades from five cooked cows, over this and the next couple of weeks.
Does that sound like a sound plan? Would be keen to see a thumbed or written response.
      Cheers

  30. Downgraded Finlayson to Spargo via DPP, can now go Holman up to pretty much anyone besides Macrae.
    T/U – Jelwood
    T/D – Oliver

    3

    18
    1. Oliver probably for me but too close to call. I’d be making the decision with serious consideration given to my bye implications. R14 is a no-no for me.

  31. Lycett has been a handy asset to the team avg of 80 which was all I asked of him at the beginning of the week.

Is it time to trade him to Grundy?
    Lycett BE 75
Grundy BE 146 so can afford to wait a week as long as Lycett doesn’t pump out a 40 odd.

Double down grade then up to Grundy next week when BE should be around 100.

Last little mini question everyone think Grundy is a Top 3 ruck?

    TU Lycett to Grundy
    TD Double downgrade

  32. Moving some DPP around and trading out crowden for spargo
Now moving Billings for one of these

      1. I have 29 players playing each week and also have a spare 100K after these trade which I like to keep just in case.. I have also only used 4 trades so I think I can. Plus crowden doesn’t look like he will make much more money. His break-even is already at his average atm

I’m just getting real annoyed with Billings haha

  33. 2 options for me this week.

T/U: English and either Banfield or Holman -> Spargo and Ronke (Or Worpel/Mutch)
Then next week with cash in the bank and depending on slight price changes I can turn Murray and Finlayson into 2 of Yeo/Simpson/Hurn/Howe

    Or

    T/D: English and Finlayson -> Yeo/Simpson and Spargo/Ronke

First trade gets on some mid season cows (js yet tbd) and sets me up to potentially get in 2 premos next week.

Second option gets in a premo sooner but potentially misses out on some cows.

    Thoughts appreciated

    1. It’s not like Macrae plays for port or suns so his bye although not on the best week isn’t that big of a deal

      1

      0
  34. Time to start upgrading my defence line while my forward line cows graze

Moving Murray to a premium – which premium to goto:

TU: Simpson (worried about putting a 34 year old in my team that can be tagged)
    TD: Yeo (consistent?)
    Comment: Hurley

    1

    5
    1. Not sure who your forward line cows are but would think there’s a different player to trade than Murray. JS is good barring being rested and Breakeven still manageable at 63. No Finlayson? Banfield?

Having said that Hurley then Yeo as Simpson will be cheaper next week or two.

      0

      0
      1. Holding finlayson as he is DPP – both are on field. My assumption is that they both have similar JS.

Banfield is going out for Spargo. I also have Naughton on the bench who has much more upside than Murray

        0

        0
        1. not so sure on Naughton. After good cash this week, just one score below average and he will likely generate no more cash. Two dips and he’ll drop. Murray has another $30k in him at least, even if he has the odd dip below current average.

          0

          0
  35. 1st trade this week was Finlayson to Hurly, 2nd was to trade Doedee, swing Sicily into his place in the backline, slip Spargo forward and bring in Mutch to the Mid giving me a backline of
laird, yeo, Simpson, Hurly, Sicily and Shaw with Naughton bench cover, happy to go with this for a while
Mids are Danger, Mitchell, Dusty, Fyfe, Cripps, Bonts, Cogs n Kelly, with Holman n Mutch bench cover
Forwards are a little thin with Mclean, Smith, Spargo, Waterman Fritzy n Henry with Guelf, but apart from Waterman, all have money to make leaving 260k in the bank to upgrade there in the next weeks with 20 trades left

    3

    0
  36. 22 trades, $66k remaining

    Who to trade out

    TU – Coffield -> Spargo/Mulch/Worpel
    TD – Barry -> Spargo/Mulch/Worpel

I did consider Holman and Finlayson, but they can reach their BE if they play a better game. So I’ll hold onto them for one more week at least. If you think I should trade either of these other two, feel free to express it down below

    5

    1
    1. I think it’s kind of hard to tell at this point. He did score his best two scores in the last two weeks, but that’s still only just two weeks. I’d give him about 2 or maybe even 3 more weeks to figure out where he’s actually headed.

      2

      0
  37. My planned / done trades.

    1) English to Grundy. I sat for an extra week because of their respective breakevens and Grundy having “shin soreness”.

Even though Grundy may shed 20-30k he is clear top 2 ruckman, third at worst.

English on the other hand is being slaughtered by Boyd being in the side and his cash generation has completely flattened out.

    2) Banfield to Spargo. Banfield is ripe to be culled, and Spargo is on the bubble, plus he brings back my fwd/mid dpp link.

This also let’s me keep cash generating rookies in Holman and Barry another week.

Next week will be looking at Crouch, so most likely Finlayson out, or Murray and then finlayson DPP back, depending on breakevens. Crouch’s b/e means he might make a 10k price jump, so Spargo clearly more crucial.

    2

  38. Had a bit of a rethink on my trades this week and have come up with the following:

T/U – Billings to Spargo and Finlayson to Yeo leaving $240k

T/D – Finlayson to Ronke/Spargo via Sicily DPP and Holman to Spargo/Mutch leaving $538k in the bank to bring in Crouch/Dusty and Yeo/Simmo next week

    7

    2
  39. I have the choice between two trades:

    T/U
    Banfield -> Spargo
Garlett -> McLean (Greene stay on bench)

    T/D
    Garlett -> Spargo
    Greene -> McLean (w/ $270k leftover)

    10

    4
  40. Went early on Spargo last week so my thoughts are:
    Billings>Mutch via Spargo
    Brayshaw> Crouch

This effectively leaves me with 217k in the bank and Holman as M9 and Mutch M10 now. Will be playing three forward rookies this week but plan next week is to swing Sicily forward for Fritsch and bring in K. Simpson

    TU: sounds a plan
    TD: reassess trades

  41. I sued to be indecisive but now I am not so sure…..

    Which way to go:

t/up Savage & Christensen out – Mclean & Spargo in $296000 in the bank means I can trade in Crouch the following wee in one trade. Especially if Savage is out injured.

t/dwn Christensen & Crowden out- Spargo & Crouch in leaving about $53000 in the bank

    1

    10
    1. Is savage a concern for you ? Because his starting to concern me, just not sure whether it’s worth a trade just yet

      0

  42. First trade – Banfield -> Spargo
    Second Trade –

TU: Murray (76.1 Avg 63 BE)
TD: Finlayson (83.9 Avg 86 BE)

    -> McLean via Sicily dpp

Leave a comment if u reckon doedee but I don’t think so.

  43. TU: Coffield -> Spargo

    1. Could go Finlayson for DEF/FWD(dpp Sicily) premo. Your call. If you swing Sicily forward you will also be able to swing him back when you need to get rid of another cooked cow in your backline.

    Cheers

    1. I feel quite strongly on this, but I think I’ll refer you to the Caretaker of Cows for his esteemed opinion…

    2. Much better options out there I’d think. Cole only has 100-120k left in him. Murphy should be back this week, or Eagles next week.

      1. Yeah. I think you may be right. Thought I’d put it there. Do have other options but none I’m 100% happy with.
Still it’s nice to have a week where I’m not scratching around to cover injuries and nothing else!

    1. Do Banfield to Spargo first and then look at your options. If Holman gets close to 70 this week, he’ll be on the up and up again …

      1. Holman is 5k more than banfield which just gets me to macrae. Their BE’s are pretty similar, 63 for holman 61 for banfield

        1. Yeah but Holman’s average is 70 and Banfield’s is in the 50s. Also, Holman will be a good onfield cover option through the byes with proven potential to hit 80+.
          Your call on that.
Gray is the only real standout premium that you haven’t already got. Mundy, Parfitt and Robinson are other potential options but come with risk; playing forward with Tabs and Sonny out, up and down with huge ceiling and flogability respectively.
          Again your call.
          Good luck.
