Weekend Review – Saints v Pies

Written by Motts on February 22 2010

Don’t you love seeing Collingwood lose by a point? I know I do. Being in Adelaide for the weekend meant this match was actually delayed by about 90 minutes. I checked the scores on the internet at half time of the telecast planning to go to bed but seeing the final margin I just had to stay up to watch. The simple things in life are often the best.

A Schnieder ($428,700, 80.71) – You can’t argue with a 133 but will this guy be making my forward line? No.
D Armitage ($413,600, 97.33) – Can clearly play given his average from 3 matches last year and the 111 he scored in this game but with Dal and Lenny to come back in at some point he may struggle to keep his spot.
N Riewoldt ($600,500, 113.05) – Marquee forward with a huge motor. Only him, Chapman and Goodes are worth more than $600k. Didn’t see a lot of him in the 2nd half of this game. 63.
S Fisher ($490,900, 92.43) – Gave you 99 more reasons to consider him in defence. Even kicked a goal.
B Goddard ($613,600, 115.52) – Was the first bloke I picked this year but his 52 was concerning. Handballed 19 of the 25 times he got the ball and gave away 4 frees.
S Gilbert ($509,100, 95.84) – one of the picks of 2009 so you’re going to have to shell out for him this year. Tagged Davis for most of the night and only scored 43.

P Medhurst ($320, 400, 60.31) – only played 16 games last year as he struggled with form and injury. Looks to be back though judging by the 101 he scored in this match. Could be the pick-up of the year but still won’t be making my team.
H Shaw ($503,100, 94.72) – Heater did his chances of making your team no damage at all by scoring a ton. It’d probably come down to a decision between him and the Saints’ Fisher. I’d choose Fisher but that’s just me.
L Ball ($457,100, 86.06) – Tough first up game for Collingwood against his old club but performed admirably for 85.
D Swan ($654,500, 123.23) – $650k is a shipload of money, I can’t see much upside from there so with this guy your strategy has got to be to let his price drop and then maybe pick him up later. Scored 88 in this game.
S Pendlebury ($595,200, 112.05) – 20 disposals and 3 tackles for 87 points.
D Jolly ($493,200, 92.86) – I had DJ in my team before this match but his 52 combined with the 106 that Big Sandy scored against the Dees has seen me make a change.
