Hmm just saw that article on the AFL website, I really like Robbie Gray, thought he looked really promising in the semi final NAB cup game. Kept him in the selected side presuming it was only a one week injury, if that. What to do now? He probably wonโ€™t return until Rd4, and could even be a slow starter after a back injury. Really would hate to use a trade Rd1, should I just keep him in and have Hitchcock/Gumbleton sub in for him or trade him down for a Ziebell/Dangerfield/R Murphy/Betts who will make me some cash?

  2. This is a hard one. I had Gray in but traded him out last second. Hitchcock played well Rd1 – Keep going with him and wait it out maybe??

But then again if Murphy stays healthy he will be getting around 100 every week and will go up a lot…

  3. Here’s one out of the box: Trade him out for Rockliff (if named). Im considering doing that, because Rockliff was my second choice behind Hitchcock for Forward Bench pos. 1. Playing against Carlton again (Played against them in NAB Challenge) could mean big points for him, and would soften the blow of having a rookie starting. Could then trade Hitchcock out for Buddy in Round 4 or 5. Just a thought.

  4. Haha, thanks Motts… here’s the forward line:
Reiwoldt, O’Keefe, Franklin, Gray, Tippett, Hall, Medhurst
    Subs: Hitchcock, Gumbleton.

    $4000 in the bank.
Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated, only found this website a few weeks before the season started and am loving it.

    1. Presuming Hitchcock gets named, my preference at the moment would be to keep Gray and save the trade. But I am a little disappointed that I got rid of Ziebell and Dangerfield from the starting line up before Rd1, looks to be a questionable move, but at least Medhurst performed just as well.

      1. Yeah, I agree plus this way you can nuff out the players who’s price will increase. A nice trade will be getting Shannon Byrnes, he looks like the go to guy for the pussies this year.

      2. You DEFINITELY don’t need to trade THIS week as there will be NO price rises/falls. Just ask Motts to retell his tale of misery, trading in Waite last year only to see him crumble into a hobbling pile of crap the very next game. Murphy, for example, could snap one of his ever-tightening hamstrings in the first 5 minutes of the next game – don’t take the risk.

We all have stories to tell of who we let slip during our preseason trading frenzy. And just as soon as we celebrate/bemoan the outcome, it can all change in one game.

        Relax – it’s a looooong season!

    2. Good to hear you’re benefiting from the site MJ.

Pretty similar FWD line thoughts to mine when i look at these 2 comments. I have Riewoldt, Tippett (traded for Franklin), Ziebell, Dangerfield, Medhurst, Hall and Williams (not sure this cheap pick up gamble will work for me) and Posiadly and Weston on the pine.

      Good luck for R2 mate!

    1. Can’t afford the straight swap to Brennan with R Gray, only $4000 in bank. At this point in time I’m just going to hold on to him though and unleash him Rd4 when the leagues start firing up. I’m in a paid league this season so I really want to give this one a good shot.
$$$ is on the line. Thanks for the ideas everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. hey guys now that i no about gray ๐Ÿ™ i am more confused then ever, i have gray in my side, and im not sure if i should trust adcock after last week, i got 93k in the bank so should i get rid of both? 1? or none ?

    1. Adcock did not score highly due to sustaining an ankle injury early in the game, and is therefore in doubt for this week. I’d be waiting for the team sheets before pressing a trade button on him. Don’t think it’s too bad an injury either, but his price will plummet though.

Depending on what players you have on the pine to replace Gray, as I said, in my position, I will be holding on to him.

This year may be quite different to previous SC seasons, where there will be plenty of trading options in the midfield to upgrade/downgrade first year players, which may require more trades in the bank, so it is probably even more vital to save trades in 2010. Just a thought. Would people tend to agree?

  7. Hey Motts, are you planning to do your Movers and Shakers post this season. I look forward to your insight.

    1. I am, PA. Have you been going back through our old posts or have you been reading since last year?

I can’t see much point in bringing an issue out this week because you shouldn’t be trading and if you want to know who’s moving and shaking just go and have a look at the Top 10 lists in the Stats Centre.

Will bring out the first issue next week.

    1. By the way Motts, in one of your post you said you scored 3,500 and that got you into the top 750 for the week. You saw it wasn’t 2.500 instead.

      1. If I ever scored 3,500 I’d get a t-shirt done up with “I SCORED 3,500 IN SUPERCOACH ONE WEEK” and I’d never take it off.

Pretty sure that was a typo, mate. I definitely gave 2500 a touch-up once or twice last year.
