    1. BTW, Matt Crouch completed training today.
Rory Sloane to face a test tomorrow to determine if plays this week.
If you haven’t heard from Richmond David Astbury (Hamstring) and Brandon Ellis (Groin) to miss. 3-4 Team changes for Round 12 – Damien Hardwick

    – Hey, hey
Well, I need a downgrade, downgrade, a downgrade is what I need
    – Hey, hey
Said I need downgrade, downgrade, a downgrade that’s what I need
And if I share with you my story would you share your downgrade with me?

Bye times are coming and I reap what I don’t sow
    – Hey, hey
Well, let me tell you something, all that debuts ain’t gold
    – Hey, hey
It’s been a long old trouble, long old troublesome road
And I’m looking for somebody, come and help me carry this load

    I need a downgrade, downgrade, a downgrade, that’s what I need
    – Hey, hey
    Well, I need a downgrade, downgrade, a downgrade, that’s what I need

Well, I don’t know if I’m walking on solid ground
‘Cause everyone in my team is falling down
And all I want is for someone to help meeeeeeeeeeee

I had a cow but his coach man let him go
    – He said
“I’m sorry but you ain’t been playing so well,”
    – I said
“Please, mister coach man, I need this cow more than you know”
But he gave me my last price rise and sent him to the VFL

Well, I need a downgrade, downgrade, a downgrade is what I need
    – Hey, hey
Said I need a downgrade, downgrade, a downgrade is what I need
    – Hey, hey

What in the world am I gonna to do tomorrow?
Is there someone with a downgrade I can borrow?
Who can help me take away my sorrow?
Maybe he’s not on the bubble…
    – Maybe he’s not on the bubble

I had some good old buddy, his names is Whitfield and Sloane
    – Hey, hey
And for my good old buddy, I spent my last dime
    – Hey, hey
Now Sloane is good to me, at least most of the time
And my good old buddy Whitfield has gone breaking his collarbone
    – Hey, hey

You people may have missed, a coach has got his own
    – Hey, hey
If teams have outs this week, I hope it ain’t written in stone
    – Hey, hey
Because I’ve been planning, planning, the byes down to the bone
And I swear on Ablett’s grave, I’ll be ranked high when I come home
    – Hey, hey

Well, I need a downgrade, downgrade, a downgrade is what I need

Go ahead, share your downgrade with me
Come on, share your downgrade, give me your downgrade, share your downgrade with me
Come on share your downgrade with me

    1. If he does come in, it’ll only be to cover Hurn while he’s out. Hurn is only supposed to be out for two weeks, one of which is WCE’s bye. So, Rotham may just play the one game before he’s kicked out again.

      7

  2. Not SC relevant I know but WTF Gibbs? Critical 2nd half role in the win last week and yet dumped for the third time. Gotta be a story!!!!

    13

    1. O’Brien still gets the nod over Jacobs even after scoring low last week with Jacobs going massive in the SANFL. All we want is for him to play Rd13 and we will be thrilled. One more week after this!

      14

      0
      1. Yes…just r13 then he will go down in history as one of my greatest ever players to play one game. Can we take up a petition ??? 20 pos, 10 hoa, 5 contested marks, a goal, all might help.

        5

  3. Hey guys,
Thinking of bringing in Laird for Whitfield this week, but is there any chance he cops the DeBoer tag?
    TU: Likely
    TD: Don’t think so

    Cheers

    7

    40
      1. Or Sloane.

Laird would have gotten the tag for sure if Mrouch didn’t get up and Sloane’s hammy kept him out. But they’re both in, so one of those two should cop the blanket.

        6

        0
    1. Teams have done an offensive tag on Laird before but for GWS to do the same it would require De Boer being off the ball, which throws off their whole set-up. Don’t think they’d do that. Can safely assume he grabs a Crouch brother or Sloane.

      8

      0
      1. Don’t think they’ll do it either. They tried De Boer on Lloyd for the first half a couple of weeks ago and then scrapped it after half time

        0

      1. I’m with AS, especially being named on interchange. When was the last time that happened? And I love laird, been a SC gun for years.

        1

        9
        1. Laird starting on the interchange doesn’t mean much GG. I have learnt over the years to take starting positions with a grain of salt.

          15

          0
          1. Yeah but you don’t ever see danger or cripps or fyfe named on the interchange, just saying. Again, don’t get me wrong love laird but he’s not the laird of past seasons and no way go him over lloyd at this stage

            0

            3
            1. To put it into perspective, Tim Taranto and Kade Simpson both named on the pine this week as well mate. Try not to read into the team sheet too much

              1

              0
      2. Certainly wasn’t my plan either but need a round 14 back with Whitfield out and I’m not spending that sort of cash on Houli. Who else would you suggest AS?

        8

        0
      3. Why not AS? Did I miss something here? I’m thinking I’ll bring him in for Whitfield this week instead of Lloyd…

        4

        0
        1. Assume it’s in relation to Laird’s avg dropping back to the high 90’s with the return of Smith and emergence of Milera but with his consistency and current price I’d have to respectfully disagree with AllSaints as I think he’s a great option for prospective owners.

          19

          0
          1. They are my exact concerns Adam.

Gun and had him all last year, but Smith back this year and Milera looking so good at the back end of last year stopped me from starting him in 2019.

While he’s scoring better than I thought and is now priced more realistically, I’m still not convinced he’ll be a Top6 DEF from here.

I probably should’ve also pointed out that having both Williams and BSmith means I won’t be bringing him in for Whitfield, but will be using the injury to address my balance.

Solid pick. You’d be paying for a 101 average and can expect close to that for sure. Just not for me. If I had to pick an R14, I’d likely go Milera. $/pt-wise as he’s priced at an 82 ave. and but for his injury-effected game is averaging 94. Bit of a POD with huge potential and pockets you $90k to spend elsewhere.

            3

            1
            1. Some good points AS.
I have started with Laird for as long as I can remember and this is the first year that I didn’t.
I went with B.Smith, as I thought at his price point he would represent much more value. Its just out of necessity that I have to select a r14 player and had originally had no intentions of looking at Laird.
Have tossed up the idea of Milera, but I’m going to play this one a bit safer I think. Will be looking for a POD in the mids instead and hopefully bank that 95-105 ave from a proven performer in Laird.
You always provide good food for thought mate and back it up with logical reasoning. Good luck over the byes champ.

              5

              0
                1. Thinking Gaff at this stage mate, only in 3% of teams. I’ve liked his last month. 5 round average of 120 at his price point is looking ok. I don’t like his ceiling, but do like his consistency.

                  3

                  0
              1. I hear you Duffer and reckon you always make excellent comments on SCT, but …

Milera’s only been back for two games. His first game back, he played HFF but pushed up onto a wing often. Last week he actually played more off a HBF and again up a wing, despite being listed at half-forward in team line-ups for both games.

His key stats are also up since his return:
kick-handball ratio, DE%, CPs and clearances (all good indicators for SC)

With both Crouch and Sloane back this week, it may negatively effect his output, but I still see him as the Crows go-to man on the outside with his line-breaking speed and elite ball skills (96% last week).

I’d personally rather have the $90k extra so I can afford JKelly rather than having to compromise 20-30pts/week in your primary SCpts position: the midfield! (that’s assuming everyone will have Grawndy after the byes).

I may very well be wrong, but I don’t want to take risks where the majority of points come from: RUCs, MIDs, D1-3 and F1-3. If I can save money at D4-6 and F4-6 then I will, if it means I have the cream in those other 16 positions with no compromises (barring injuries of course)!

                Apologies, I’ve gone on a bit 😉

                3

                0
                1. Geez you are making some good points there AS. You are really making me rethink this. Loving the conversation!

                  3

                  0
                  1. If you aim for no compromise on those 16 spots and your D4-6 and F4-6 average just 90 each week, you should score 2525+ each week, based on current averages and 129 for your captain (which is about right with 2 bites at it).

There are currently only 2 DEFs and 1 FWD who average more than the 8th best MID (111.3), so to me that suggests NEVER compromise premo MID picks. I guess this is the critical point I’m trying to make!

                    3

                    0
                    1. Dam it allsaints..

You are starting to ruin my plans.

I had a sneaky plan to get in Gus Brayshaw at around $400K in R14 as my M8. ( this could be the only way I get to ” Full Premo” )

As the Dees return to full strength, I have a feeling they will win a fair few games in the back half of the year.

I was kinda gambling on the fact that Gus could emulate last seasons form and storm home.

Maybe I’m better off spending up on a top 8 mid and leaving one of Duursma / Baker at D6/ F6.

                      Thoughts ?

                      3

                      0
                    2. Can’t reply to Freo Tragic’s post regarding A Brayshaw but if you didn’t start A Brayshaw or M Crouch I think they will be fantastic discounted options to occupy a M8 or M9 spot ensuring you successfully utilise the savings on another line.

                      3

                      0
                    3. I agree with both of you and this is obviously more of an ideology than a reality. I currently have Crouch, Steele AND Rockliff sitting at M6-8 with Jelly in this week. That’s not ideal is it!?!

There is little chance we will even identify who the Top8 will be from hereon BUT I do think, we have to be trading IN with informed thinking that <110 average is a compromise, especially if you are forgoing one of the top 4 (120+) that you don’t have.
I’ll be keeping those previously named notional premos and also Hayes who can act as a loophole for two of them M8/9 when Macrae comes in next week.
If Hayes does play a few more games later on then he can be traded for the cash, but I don’t need it right now, and the l’hole should prove useful for a few pts/week.
FT: I think Brayshaw (and Steele) could have back halves like last year, but if I didn’t already own one, I’d want to see signs first that’s all.

                      3

                      0
  4. Not the week for Stocker to get injured!

I have 18…just doubtful Sloane plays though so will cop that donut.

    11

    0
    1. I hear the Hawks are trying to get him for next year.
which means he’ll win the Brownlow the year after, then break his leg

      20

      2
  5. Need to rid myself of Whitfield. Have mapped out all my future trades (pending injury) I can bring in Sicily, L. Ryan, L. Neale and J. Lloyd all after their byes making for a tasty two weeks.

Only catch is to achieve this I would need to bring in Milera instead of Laird this week – the extra $100k is crucial. Taking out injury affected game, Milera’s average of 93 isn’t terrible…

    TU: Milera
    TD: Laird

    13

    15
    1. if you want a left field option that’s similar in price to Milera then look at Lachie WELLER from GC, dpp and is scoring very good.

      8

      0
  6. Patrick Naish ( Def $123,900) debuts for Richmond and Jarrod Cameron WC (M/F $117,300) extended bench only future cow prospects. Pickings getting slim

    7

    0
    1. Patrick Naish, 182cm, 75kg, HB flanker
      Key VFL stats for 2019:
      Av. Disps 24
      Av. Kicks 18
      DE% 71
      Marks 4.5
      Tackles 2
      FF 1
      FA 0
Total Goals 8 (from 8 games)

Has been v impressive, so worth keeping an eye on for role at VFL level with Stack and Houli still selected. With Ellis OUT, we may see Stack push up onto a wing. All that said, he’ll likely be gone as soon as Ellis returns (one week).

      0

      0
  7. Can players on their byes still be used to loophole? Or are they automatically benched as DNP at the start of the round?

    8

    0
  8. Also Rotham named on an extended bench for the eagles, he is on the bubble with a BE of -82. If he plays 2 to 3 games at the same ave while Hurn is out he could be a good little cash generator

    3

    3
    1. Nah, Strugglers. His JS is poor, very poor.

Hurn will only miss the one game and be back in R14 and Allen could also be played down back once he’s fit. Seems like we want to debut Cameron or give Nelson/Ah Chee a whirl.

      9

      0
  9. TD – Trade our Hore for Laird (leaves me with 19 on field including Burgess and Sloane)

TU- Matty Parker for Milera (leaves me with 20 on field and extra cash)

    3

    23
  10. Hi,

I’m in big trouble for the middle bye so I’m thinking going early on Clarke and bewley this week.

Are they likely to both hold there spots after their bye?

    Comment for any better options

    4

    0
    1. Both SHOULD keep their spots – Bewley was highly touted in the preseason, and Clarke absolutely killed it. However, with our rookie luck this year, nothing is guaranteed.

      4

      0
    1. Named on field, so I would say so. He’d be extremely hard done by if he was dropped, considering his form this year.

      7

      0
      1. Hore plays for sure if fit, but his scoring may be slightly effected with the return of Lever. I’m looking to trade him to Ryan/Sicily next week regardless to field 18 players. One more price rise will be nice

        16

        0
        1. The price rise is good if your targets hold /drop their prices. Otherwise If they are going up in price it is much of a muchness if you are going to trade them anyway. From now to the end, points are more important

          1

          0
          1. If you’re trading him next week it should 100% be to a player who has the round 12 bye. In which case their price is stagnant, and Hore just makes some extra cash.
