Alright, of the 16 entries for Highest Vote Getter (HVG) we’ve got 9 for Satan, 3 for Bont, 3 for Wines and 1 for Steele.
Only Bruce and Sal have Satan under 28.5, otherwise there’s a lot of similarity in the entries for Top 3. Might come down to the team Top 2s.

Darcy Parish very overrated in the first half of the count. Jack Steele completely without love.

Heaps of missed votes in huge games but, even more galling, how inflated Wines is while Macrae, Miller and Steele (all three of whom are better than Wines imo) are missing without a trace.

Easily the most inflated count I’ve ever seen. Wines staggeringly overrated.
I’m sorry, he did not have a 36 vote season.

After all these years, it’s still hilarious to me that we spend all season bashing the umps – and then at the end we let them tell us who the best player in the game is.
Times have changed I reckon as the Umps used to walk off the ground and not look at the sats and give the votes. Pretty sure they are looking at players stats after the game now.
Wines had a good year but in 1 game he had 31 touches with 11 Clangers and got awarded 3 votes.
