Captaincy Candidates – Round 21

Captaincy Candidates

Bontempelli v Giants

L3 v Giants: 128, 116, 93

L3 @ MRVL: 169, 174, 133

L3 MID v Giants: 89, 89, 73

The Giants have tightened up on ball but knows he has to keep carrying to guarantee the Doggies finals. Amenable to him tonight if you like an early VC.

Gawn v Eagles

L3 v Eagles: 198, 100, 109

L3 @ MRVL: 146, 67, 130

L3 RUC v Eagles: 123, 104, 95

What I’m not amenable to is how badly Gawn is going to rail us – both as a Eagles man in attendance and as a non-owner…

Rowell v Tigers

L3 v Tigers: 130, 113, 137

L3 @ PFS: 143, 156, 147

L3 MID v Tigers: 177, 62, 96

Rowell’s in a rich vein of form at the moment. Soft opponent at home this week. Add it to the rolodex.

Anderson v Tigers

L3 v Tigers: 105, 128, 122

L3 @ PFS: 128, 148, 105

L3 MID v Tigers: 177, 62, 96

For my AnderSONS, our man will also be solid.

Grundy v Dons

L3 v Dons: 121, 68, 99

L3 @ SCG: 153, 127, 179

L3 RUC v Dons: 88, 124, 132

Not a lover of Goldy being back as well as the Swans season being over but still a fundamentally sound match up 150.0 five round averaging Grundy.

Daicos v Lions

L3 v Lions: 172, 116, 112

L3 @ MCG: 177, 169, 127

L3 MID v Lions: 143, 126, 131

Daicos’ numbers are really solid here. As much as he screams for a tag, the Lions tend to back their system in.

Wanganeen-Milera v Roos

L3 v Roos: 115, 94, 97

L3 @ MRVL: 162, 86, 155

L3 MID v Roos: 156, 197, 84

Oh my. Nas. The saint of saints. Looking to finish the year on ball and giving the Sainters some pride. He’ll savage the Roos. I don’t mind his colleague Sinc if you’re without Nas, as well as RoMo – who we’ll get to in a sec.

Smoky Picks

Heeney v Dons

L3 v Dons: 90, 117, 128

L3 @ SCG: 197, 97, 144

L3 MID v Dons: 169, 150, 135

Same deal as Grundy: don’t love that the Swans’ season is over but a juicy as match up.

Marshall v Roos

L3 v Roos: 107, 124, 107

L3 @ MRVL: 94, 100, 135

L3 RUC v Roos: 75, 153, 112

Gets the last hit against a Xerri-less North. Got him sailing, Christopher Cross style.

Smith v Port

L3 v Port: 156, 95, 98

L3 @ GMS: 81, 85, 118

L3 MID v Port: 109, 68, 122

There’s cooked, then there’s Port. They’ve been flailing and still tagging with Bergman, having targeted Newcombe and Dawson recently. If the tag doesn’t go to him, gets broken or doesn’t materialize, this match up presents the perfect slope for a downhill skier like Smithers.

Verdict

Without Gawn and Nas, I’m going to try and keep busy this weekend and distract myself. They’re the two top seeds. I’m hoping Ando into Daicos can help my not get blown away. Last week’s top five went 169, 146, 177, 137 and 112. Going purely on ceiling, we’ll go for a top three this week:

  1. Gawn
  2. Wanganeen-Milera
  3. Rowell

  1. An angry Gawn vs West Coast is too good to pass up on, just a matter of if it’s:

TU – VC Bont into C Gawn

    TD – VC Gawn into C Grundy/NWM

  2. Angry Max into the greatest footballer ever to lace up a boot

Yes I am firmly on the NWM hype train, just give him a blank cheque
