HAWTHORN
Ned Reeves (back) – 1 week
“He’s tracking really well. He’ll return to some football training this week and we’re aiming to look at match play the following week. The last week has been really good, we’ve been able to get into some conditioning and running and some good work under his belt. Now the next step is to progress to some controlled football skills this week with the plan next week to have a full week of training and back into match play.”
Cooper Stephens (concussion) – 1-2 weeks
“Cooper had an incident in the VFL game, a concussion incident, and was withdrawn from the game. He will now go through the medical process, the staggered and staged process, of the 12-day concussion protocol. It can be more days sometimes depending on symptoms and how players recover but the early signs are good that he will progress through that as we expect. There’s a VFL bye this weekend so he will work towards the next game the week after.”
MELBOURNE
Steven May (RIBS)
“Unfortunately, Steven suffered that injury during the match and had to be subbed out as he had some referred pain to his abdominals,” High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith said.
“So, we wanted to make sure that he was clear of any internal damage, which fortunately our scans did clear him of any abdominal injury.
“He’s now recovering at home. We’ll hopefully have him back in later this week, but he has been quite sore following that incident.
“Once we get him back in the club, we’ll be able to assess what his progressions look like from there.”
Christian Salem continues to work through a minor hamstring injury, re-entering main training this week. “So, we’ve got our main session tomorrow, we’ll assess his from that and his availability for the weekend will be determined by what he can complete in that training tomorrow.”
Caleb Windsor has started moving forward through his rehab of a syndesmosis injury sustained in Round 20.
“Caleb’s progressed really well,” Griffith said.
“He’s now progressing into some drilling out of the boot, and then we’re putting him back into the boot just to continue to allow for his recovery. But he’s progressed really well across the last week and a half.
“We’ll hopefully look to have him running by the end of the week. He’s got a few markers to tick-off over the next 24 to 48 hours, and then we’ll get a clearer picture of how we can progress him from there.”
Charlie Spargo (Achilles) and Christian Petracca (spleen) remain on the long-term injury list.

Josh Rotham is unavailable for selection due to an abdominal concern which forced him out of the side.

Dom Sheed’s season is unfortunately over after he suffered a hamstring issue at training last week.
The Eagles are also seeking surgical opinion on a foot issue which is related to the injury that restricted Sheed during pre-season, albeit in a separate area.

“We’re going to get a surgical opinion on that and he’s likely to undergo surgery and won’t play again this year.”
Luke Edwards entered the concussion protocols after the RAC Derby.
“Luke is still getting assessed for his concussion. As he’s had three this year we’re going to be really cautious with that,” Inness said.
