ADELAIDE

Taylor Walker is a chance to return from an eye injury.

Izak Rankine is in the AFL’s concussion protocol and will miss this week’s game

“Izak is at home recovering, he’s still got some minor symptoms, he’s in the hands of the doctors here and we’ll continue to monitor him,” Burgess said.

“He’s in the concussion protocols but obviously will miss this weekend.”

Brody Mihocek is progressing well with his pectoral muscle recovery.

The forward has successfully completed a few running sessions last week and has progressed to running outside, close to 100% speed.

The 31-year-old is also completing bench presses and lateral work, regaining strength and movement in his arms.

Mihocek will continue with his shoulder rehab to make strides in the off-season.

Tom Mitchell

Tom Mitchell continues to work through the rehab program for his foot.

The midfielder has started intrinsic foot rehab work to regain ankle mobility, as well as completing light bike sessions and strength work in the gym.

Oscar Steene

Oscar Steene is making positive steps with his toe recovery.

The 20-year-old has increased his running ability to 100% over the past week, as well as completing plyometric exercises.

The next steps for the ruckman is to start running sessions to be in shape for season 2025.

ESSENDON

Matt Guelfi will be a test

Jordan Ridley hasn’t fully recovered from a hip injury

Nik Cox has also been ruled out withs concussion suffered in round 22.

FREMANTLE

Oscar Murdoch has entered the AFL concussion protocols following a knock in the win against Sandringham.

GWS

Isaac Cumming is progressing extremely well in his rehabilitation from his hamstring injury and will push for a return in the first week of finals.

Jake Riccardi will also be pushing for a return in the qualifying final as he closes in on his return from finger surgery.

HAWTHORN

Jack Scrimshaw (finger) – test

“He had an issue with his finger. He came off with the doc, and had a dislocation. The doc assessed it and he actually had a little bit more than just a dislocation, he had a bit of a flesh wound as well. He’s had to go and have some very minor surgery, a cleanout, and have it re-stitched up. It’s now really about comfort and function. He’s a test for this week and we’ll give him every single minute until this game to prove himself but we’ll know more later in the week.”

Ned Reeves (back) – test

“Ned’s really good. He did a pretty large training session last Friday. He’s done some training today and he’ll train with the main group on Thursday.”

Changkuoth Jiath (calf) – 1 week

“This one’s been a little bit more complex. Changkuoth’s had a number of sessions now where he has been able to run at about 70 per cent but hasn’t felt comfortable progressing beyond that. We had a session on the weekend and we just have not got the progression that we would have liked and what that means is that now with a short turnaround, it’s put us in a position where we haven’t had a symptom-free session so we’re going to have to take another week again and look to get some progression during this week. Hopefully, it feels more comfortable with a session. It’s just a little speed bump in the road for us but he’ll be back very soon.”

Will Day (SC Joint) – TBC

“He has an SC Joint issue. There’s been a little bit of a dislocation/ subluxation movement of the bones and the ligaments that support that. The advice we’ve been given, we’ve seen a number of specialists, our medical team here is very thorough and we’ve got all the information we need now. It’s really down to function and how he feels and pain and all those sorts of things but again, we’ve got to get beyond this week’s game first. He will start running later this week and start moving which will be great, we can get him going again. Beyond that, we’ll reassess the football participation but we need to complete this week’s game first.”

MELBOURNE

Tom Sparrow has been sidelined with an ankle injury.

“Unfortunately for Tom he sustained that ankle injury and scans have confirmed that he does have a syndesmosis there,” Griffith said.

“We’ve organised follow-up scans and imaging and then, in consultation with surgeons, we will determine whether or not we go with a surgical intervention or conservative management.

“As we’re progressing into the off-season, we want to give Tom the best possibility to maximise his off-season and be prepared for the start of the pre-season.”

Steven May has also been ruled out of Friday’s final match of the home-and-away season, with the club opting to give the defender further time to recover from a rib injury.

Clayton Oliver is recovering well from surgery on his hand, with Griffith hopeful that the midfielder would be ready to integrate into regular off-season conditioning.

Caleb Windsor, who sustained a syndesmosis injury in Round 20, is eyeing a return to running with the aim to have an uninterrupted off-season program

“He’s progressed into running at the end of this week or the start of next week, which will allow him to integrate into the off-season unrestricted, which is a great result for Caleb.”

  2. Thanks heaps CT

No Sheezel or McKay back this week will hurt a few coaches, but sounds like Curnow might still be half a chance

If you are in the GF or chasing overall, good luck to everyone for the last week of SC 🙂
