If wasn’t already obvious from the threads on the site, this week marks the big rookie cull as coaches try to upgrade their teams in the best possible way for their individual needs. It is not often (if ever) that all of the top ten trades are rookies moving on. As to be expected, each has reached their reasonable usefulness and is now being used individually, or in bunches, to obtain a premo to keep up with the pack, or to separate from others in leagues.
The only interesting trend not highlighted here, is that coaches in the top 10% include Adam Cerra on the list of most traded. That could be seen as a move to stay in the top ten percent by not losing the points on offer for the week of his suspension. These coaches have opted to go potentially bigger including the likes of The Bont, Tracca, The Chad, Big X, Rozee and Lachie Neale.
My list of potential rookie culls is pretty short this week, with only Murphy Reid, Cristian Moraes and Ben Paton on it. The former two are possible conduits to getting Hustwaite (at this stage) and Joel Freijah back into my team after trading him two weeks ago, despite me writing that he was worth keeping until Bont’s return as he would get more freedom. Should’ve taken my own advice. My other edict was to hang on to Zach Reid and I still think he stays to be at least D7, potentially through to his R16 bye. FYI, I still have Luke Ryan issues to sort somehow, or or wear the scores until the rest are sorted.
As for the traded in players, quite interesting to note (including coaches in the top ten percent) that 30% have opted against the usual SC trends and included Oscar McDonald whose position may be negatively impacted by the return of Luke Jackson, and Henry Hustwaite who has yet to reach bubble status. Our SuperCoachTalk poll showed clearly a trend away from McDonald, but the masses obviously needed a line to a premo on their radar. Hustwaite makes more sense, being a little bit more mature and filling a role, and has more potential job security than Oscar and is not being coached by MINI who seems destined to join the FURL club sooner rather than later.
To summarise this week, I have included a small(ish) poll to further edify the results From a SCT perspective. The poll is specific to your team so vote accordingly. Thanks for reading and I trust all your trade decisions this week are wise ones.

Comments re Adam Cerra may now be redundant due to suspension being overturned and a fine applied. Now eligible to play.
Just in respect to the second last paragraph, Oscar McDonald is 29yo and is coached by Longmuir, not McQualter.
