Rookie Review – Round 5

What a weekend of footy we had with Gather Round! Scoring was reasonable depending on which rookies you had on field could have made a big difference though.

The first round of DPP has hit with about 17 rookies gaining a new position. Really it’s just an increase of flexibility especially as we are now in full team mode for another 6 weeks until the mid-season byes start.

Depending on what you’re looking for the best targets this week would be Gross and C. Cleary. Gross has looked good in both games with plenty of time in the middle. Cleary started off real well on Friday night before fading a bit like the rest of the Swans but has looked good.

Brock and El-Hawli could also be considered with Brock having a great 1st game but quiet on the weekend. As he plays key defender he will have up and down scoring and could even find his way out of the side when McGovern returns. El-Hawli has a better role as long as he fits into the starting 22 which after a win he should.

  1. Do you rate Clearys JS? Considering trading stone (or hewett if he misses again) but worried cleary won’t be in team much longer

    • I’m unsure, it may not the best with McDonald, McInerney and Cunningham possibly returning. But he has played well and in a different role to these players. If he’s named this week then it is a good sign he has solid JS after their loss on the weekend.

  2. I wish I had a crystal ball to see if saad el hawli would continue to be sub or be promoted to the 22. Would love to downgrade SDK to him as I’m more comfortable playing one of Reid or Trainor on field that some of the midfield rookies I have.
Will probably play it safe and just go Henderson to Gross and SDK up to Clark though.
