The Fallen Premiums – Round 20, 2022

Written by Abs on July 27 2022

SC Finals have finally arrived, which means it’s time to get serious. Luxury trading the likes of Jayden Short (who’s kind of just running around like a headless chook playing HF), has become a viable option for many. Tommy Stewart is back from suspension, which really should be where FP starts and stops this week, however, luckily we’ve covered all bases as usual! Let’s get straight to The Fallen Premiums – Round 20!

I just want my SC socks!

Defenders

The way he rewarded me as a starting pick, he’s definitely an entity of sorts.

Tom Stewart (GEE, 562.4k, (-$23.3k), 115.5 AVG, 73 BE) an 163 point average at GMHBA this season, with two of Geelong’s final four games to be played at GHMBA, non-owners, we’ll need to be holding our breath… Slightly discounted, fresh off a suspension, if you can offload Short or Crisp, this move makes all too much sense. I’d also like to mention the validity of punting on Stewart as a VC/C in the two games at GMHBA. I’ll keep it simple, if you can grab Stewart without neutering your trades, bring him in.

Aaron Hall (NTH, 495.3k, (-$77.6k), 97.1 AVG, 153 BE) surely you wouldn’t, unless… But even then, you couldn’t could you, unless… Nah, but you shouldn’t, unless… A late-in against the Hawks, the question remains if Hall was always intended to play. Regardless, Hall’s ceiling and durability has been parroted around a lot, and in regards to sounding like a broken record, I’ll bypass those concerns. Hall’s remaining four fixtures consist of the following: Essendon (107 Avg. against them in 2021), Sydney (127 points in 2021), Adelaide (136 Avg. against them in 2021), and Gold Coast (73 points, yuck). If you’re not one to mind having a puckered a**-hole for the next four weeks, and don’t have the funds to get to Stewart, Hall coming in could either be a master-stroke, or a dagger into the heart of your SC season. I personally think you’d need to have some sort of affliction for pain to bring Hally in. You’d be better pressed winning the lotto than punting on Hall to not miss a game and give you a f****** 13 points on debut, but who am I to judge?

Oh yeah, I may have traded him back in last week…

Backing it up…
Daniel Rich, 512k, 179 BE
Aaron Hall, 495k, 153 BE
Shannon Hurn, 551k, 149 BE
Daniel Rioli, 496k, 149 BE
Jordan Dawson, 563k, 145 BE
Sam Docherty, 529k, 144 BE

Midfielders

Jack “Man of Steele” (STK, 587.2k, (-$98.6k), 113.8 AVG, 68 BE) this will be Steele’s final mention for the season. I’ll save the write-up, I’ve run out of things to say about this man. Simply-put, get him if you can. He’s just so bloody good, sub 600k, and has my Hawks to feast on this week.

Tom Mitchell (HAW, 507.5k, (-$130.6k), 95.8 AVG, 78 BE) interestingly enough, since both Jaeger and Titch have been shuffled away from CBA’s, they’ve both found some great form. a three round average of 107 points, and a five round average of 103.8 points further reaffirms my eye-test assessment. Two of the Hawks final four games come in Tazzie, where Titch is averaging 119 points for the season. One to definitely look at in SC Draft, and a very interesting POD for those that are adamant on moving a Patrick Cripps type.

Limbo land…
Clayton Oliver, 711k, 196 BE
Darcy Parish 587k, 180 BE *injured*
Andy Brayshaw, 574k, 161 BE
Cam Guthrie, 555k, 158 BE

Rucks

Max Gawn (MEL, 538.8k, (-$118.6k), 112.9 AVG, 118 BE) 147 points, Gawn rewarded those that copped his 50 points the week prior with a vintage performance (still to soon to mention Gunboat Diplomacy captaining his 50?). The Dees travel to Perth for a clash against Fremantle and one Sean Darcy, followed by the Pies, Blues and then Brisbane. By no means an easy close to the year for the Dees or Gawn. However, Gawn finding himself sub 540k is blasphemy. Darcy Cameron appears to be a popular trade-out, and there’s no-one better in the ruck line than big Maxy!

Timberrr…
Reilly O’Brien 522k, 152 BE
Nic Naitanui, 559k, 148 BE

Forwards

Tim Taranto (GWS, 478.5k, (-$51.2k), 94.2 AVG, 82 AVG) with a three round average of 102.3 points, and a five round average of 94.8 points, I’d finally like to double down on my mention of him a few weeks prior. Taranto very much looked to have been integrated slowly in his return from injury in round 15 (against the Pies), and has since been scoring incredibly strong (104.5 points in the four games since). McVeigh has got Taranto playing the right role, and I’d be quite confident Timmy (with a contract to play for), can maintain a nice 100+ average for the final four games of the season. For those binning Darcy Cameron, here’s a perfectly viable POD.

Forward thinking….
Shai Bolton, 493k, 149 BE
Darcy Cameron, 488k, 137 BE
Tim English, 520k, 131 BE

An amazing performance by Jack in tribute to his father. Vale Ray Gunston!

  1. Zorko is the definition of a fallen premium. $360k and 8 tons in 15 games this season. I’m bringing him in for Wher to be my D7 and M9 loop. Means I miss Stewart but can loop out a poor score from Crisp/Short.

    1. Yes he is!

He’s also someone I’ve completely blanked from my memory for the way he burnt me this year.

    2. One gun onfield beats two spuds you can loop everyday of the week.

I currently have 2 premos on my bench – including Zorko – and looping premos is supremely overrated.

Now thinking Oliver will be tagged against Freo so could be near to his 113 he got v Freo back in rd 11. Not as much regreat if only Brayshaw could lift!
