There’s no more SuperCoach friendly team than the Doggies.Year after year they produce Uber Premium’s due to their high scoring game style. Can they overcome some defensive frailties and step up other level ? The early round 3 Bye means you may not be able to load up too heavily on Bulldogs, which kinda sucks, because I like a heap of them. Sons of the West ..

The Lock
Marcus Bontempelli (Mid) $706.800
He’s the most expensive player in SC, but we need to remember he’s an anytime Captains option, with one of the highest floors in game . The “Value Game” would tell you ,you can’t start anyone at top price. SuperCoach is also about having the best team possible eventually. No final team is complete without the highest scorer. If you choose a guns and rookies approach you may could just lock him in and enjoy the ride. If not, you will be with ~70% of the comp hoping he drops in price at some stage early in the season. I’m nervous about this one. To Bont ? or not to Bont ?
The Dark Horse ‘s
Tim English ( Ruck ) $600.900
The new rules should help this guy. One of the jumping / athletic around the ground type Ruckman, many believe English could get back to his best this season. In 2023 Tim averaged 128.0 points per game. His best is very good. This is where things get interesting, because so are his early match ups. R1 GWS -Briggs. R2 AFC -Mc Andrew. Bye. R4 ESS- Blakinston. Hawks – Meek. Cats- Blicavs. I think English is a captaincy option in quite a few of these games. Luke Jackson (without the early bye) at 36% owned, is by far more popular than Tim at just 16%.AfterTim dominated in the last practice match verses Meek, I’m starting to warm to him as a stating pick this year.
Ed Richards ( Mid ) $602.300
Ed broke out last year in a pretty big way. From a 98.6 in 2024 to a healthy 111.3 last season He looks to have blown past Libba into the top ranks of the Bulldogs midfield. Ed rarely misses a kick with his elite disposal. This combined with a great kick to handball ratio, make for Ed to be a very efficient scorer. I think there could be as much as +5 points on average just from natural progression. At just 3% owned Richards is a huge Pod as well.
The Breakout
Joel Freijah ( Fwd/Mid ) $428.700
Joel Frey -jar, Mini Bont or the Fridge. This kids looks to also moved past others into the Dogs midfield rotation. He will most like be moved around a fair bit, but as a forward in SC he becomes interesting. Last years average of 79.2 needs to improve by 10+ points to make him a true “Keeper.” It looks like he will be given every opportunity to make that happen. so if you’re looking for a breakout forward possibly consider Joel.
The Rookie’s
Lauchie Jaques ( Def ) $119.900
Jaques played nearly 80% game time in the Community series game. He turned the ball over a bit, with his 16 disposals, but also looks quite composed for a first year player. Only 43 SC points, but he seems to be the preferred option at this stage, so well worth considering at the price.
Arthur Jones ( Def/Mid ) $119.900
Arty was electric in this Com series game. 3 goals and 7 score involvements combined for 68 SC points. Don’t expect 3 goals every week from what is essentially a small forward role. He does look quite secure, so a bench spot isn’t out of the question. A handy price and the DPP help push his case as well.
I’d love to hear any questions you have regarding the Doggies.
