Where and when: Metricon Stadium, Saturday 27th March at 8:10pm (AEDT)
Last time they met: R14, 2020: Gold Coast 12.19 (91) def North Melbourne 4.4 (28) at Metricon
The Suns hadn’t won a match since Round 7 but this one was never in doubt. They lead at every change with only inaccurate kicking preventing them from putting this match away before half-time. Ainsworth, Anderson and Rankine lead the way, showing there is a bright future at Gold Coast. Sexton kicked 4 goals and King 2 goals.
For the Roos only Anderson and McDonald showed any real fight as they failed to kick a single goal after half-time.
Match Preview:
The Roos are not going well (I’m sure that statement shocked you). Many ‘experts’ had the Hawks last but surely North already have one hand on the spoon. Even without Matty Rowell and with the inclusion of Anderson for North, the Suns should prove too talented for the Roos and really should lock away their first win for season 2021.
Thommo watch:
North Melbourne – Let’s be honest, most of us are watching Jack Ziebell to see if he can repeat the 100+ score of round 1. A few smart coaches may have started with LDU and Jaidyn Stephenson but after that the Supercoach options fall away rapidly.

I have done one trade this round in Danger to Dusty. With no league games, I was going to trade out Rowell for Macrae, but with Campbell’s 119 emergency score on the bench, I’m thinking of leaving Rowell in my team till next week, to take the 119 from Campbell? Macrae may only score 20-30 more, for the cost of a trade, and if he doesn’t make his BE of 124, will be cheaper next week….is this crazy talk???
Na. Sounds logical to me.
Should have included TU & TD
TU – hold Rowell to take Campbell’s 119
TD – trade to Macrae now
Silly to consider trading brockman out for a non-player in order to get campbells score and possibly gawn as vc…
Might put brockman on field for powell anyway. Worst case brockman hopefully doesn’t score too much less than powell
Final teams
No late changes.

Is anyone that isnt a fan of these 2 clubs actually watching this match. Im putting it on now that its half time in the saints melbourne game but no where near as good
I did the same. Terrible game!
It is a hard watch and I am North thru and thru.
North are impotent in attack and will be unable to kick a score.
Hard to fathom why North chose Phillips over McDonald so Phillips had better be bloody good cause I can see we need McDonald more
It kills you, doesn’t it Shaggi? Your team has a clear issue with their list and the recruitment team seem unable or unwilling to fix the issue.
That’s why I was so annoyed with the Hawks giving up draft picks for Wingard. We needed to rebuild on true midfielders and key position talent, not waste picks on over-hyped small forwards.
Your talking to a North supporter from the early 70’s.
Seen it before.
When a generational key forward comes along you just have to draft them don’t you even if he is not in your plans – although he should have been in Norths.
North are pinning a lot on Charlie Comben to partner Larkey in attack I think
In North’s case, they should have cracked open the champagne when a gun key forward was available.
I remember being gobsmacked on draft night when McDonald wasnt picked in the top 2 and I thought wow what a great pickup for north. Hell be really good with their up and coming forward line. Then they picked up Phillips and i thought wow this kid will be good but not really what north need! I just hope phillips turns out good otherwise you norf supporters are gonna be feeling the pain
IMO, it’s been in the pipe works since VFL became AFL.
Hobart Hawks or Canberra Kangaroos, (which now appears to be scrapped) to maybe the North Launcestonians…..(or something like that).
The original problem, and maybe it still is, was transport to the grounds from either Devonport (boat) or Hobart by plane, and how it needs to be addressed for other states supporters.
Maybe they’ve addressed that problem and are now “looking” for the best candidate for Tassie Tourism.
Ziebell taken off with what looks like a knee issue. We are all going to need a trade!
Coming back on after being carried off….
