Rookie Review – Round 6

Another week down and another week of popular rookies being used as subs.

Trainor was the sub after his best game and scored 2 from 10 minutes on the ground. Once this score drops from his rolling average he will make money again as long as his scoring returns. So he’s not a definite trade but if the cash can be used on a premium then go for it.

Just be wary not to trade all bench cover in the push to get rookies off field. A problem that most coaches face around or after the byes as we trade all the rookies that have risen and get left with some lesser rookies. Might not be as big of a factor with Flex in play but worth considering before cashing in all of the rookies on a particular line.

Good: Powell-Pepper made it back-to-back 100s with another great game. He kicked 2.1 from 15 touches with 8 contested, 3 marks and 3 tackles. Hewett returned to the side and spent some time through the middle with 15 CBA’s. 22 touches with 12 contested, 3 marks, 5 clearances and 2 goals which were in the 2nd half. Big game which will see his cash generation kick started. Motlop had his 2nd best career game. He spent some time in the middle attending 5 centre bounces. 13 touches with 6 contested, 9 tackles and 3 goals. His goals were all in the last quarter but that doesn’t seem to have affected his score.

Bad: Read managed just 1 ineffective kick and 3 hitouts in 45% TOG before he was subbed out. Hanily was subbed out after 47% TOG with 3 touches, all effective.

Subs: Duursma, Sharp, Dudley, Clohesy
