We’re going to partially try and answer Binnaway’s queries regarding the top players in each position (except ruck). I say partially because we all know from the averages and total scores, who are the best players in their positions coming into the bye rounds. What I’m attempting to define is who do we think the top players will be from this point forward. We know The Bont and Andy Brayshaw are are two top dogs as of now, but will they be if we start again now. Brayshaw has there sub tons from his last four games and his recent average is lower than his season average. Who thinks this may be a deterrent ?
Similarly, Lachie Whitfield’s 3 & 5 round averages are much lower than his season average. Could starting forward last week cloud your judgement? Sheez is definitely trending down of late, and his role is becoming uncertain, so does that exclude him from the vote. Others with similar downward trends in defence include NWM, Jake Bowey and Matt Roberts. So the question is, who is top five or six from here on.
Alternatively, guys like Jack Crisp and Jack Steele in the mids, Shai Bolton and James Peatling in the forward line and Andy McGrath and Luke Ryan in defence to name a few, are bouncing way above their season average with their current three round average. Do we think it could be a sign of things to come, or not?
