Ah the Cats. Such a hard team to judge from a SuperCoach perspective. Bailey Smith and Max Holmes seem like the standout performers. It does seem to drop away quite rapidly after that. For this one I needed some help, so who better to call than Rookie Coach ( @rookiecoachafl on X ) to help me find some left field options. Thanks so much Rookie, let’s see what he helped dig up at the Cattery.

The Lock
Bailey Smith ( Mid ) $638.300
Whatever you think about Baz. He’s very good at football. He’s possibly even better as a SuperCoach player. He just runs and runs around with his flowing hair demanding the ball. The New rules should suit him as well. He’s in no way discounted this year, but his average of 118 from last season is Uber elite. He’s young enough to repeat, if not exceed that average this year. Can he keep his head straight ? Will his body hold up ? The early Bye ( Round 2 ) looks to be holding many folks from starting Baz. At just 7% owned he could do a fair bit of damage before folks get a chance to jump on. What’s holding you back from starting Baz in 2026 ?
The Dark Horse
Gryan Miers ( Fwd ) $508.700
Gyran is the link up guy at the Cats. His unique kicking style is so effective he is in the elite category for goal assists, and score involvements. He averaged 94 SC points per game, but finished the year with an impressive 8 game stretch , where he averaged 107.3. Can “Messi” be the Premium forward we are looking forward in 2026 ? At just 1% owned at the time of writing , I think Gyran is certainly worth considering as a POD in our Forward lines.
The Break Out
James Worpel ( Mid ) $403.500
There’s really not a heap of pure Break out material at the Cats. The most relevant is possibly James. What can I say about the workhorse Worpel ? A new team and a solid role should help him get back to somewhere close to premium status. I’m unsure if there’s enough meat on the bone to pick him as pure Classic selection. One to boost up your Draft rankings and monitor in Pre season games. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him around $550K mid season.
The Rookie cupboard is bare.
