Game Chat – Collingwood vs Fremantle

Where and when: Marvel Stadium, Saturday 26th June at 1:45pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Rd 9, 2020: Fremantle 10.1 (61) def Collingwood 7.7 (49) at Optus Stadium.

Last five H2H: Collingwood 3 – Fremantle 2

Match Preview: It must have annoyed Buckley that his team finally turned up to play after he had quit. You could see the ‘Thanks fellas’ in his eyes as he watched the final minutes of the match.

So, do the Pies continue with their improved form in a home match against the improving Fremantle at Metricon Stadium? The simple answer is: Who knows? Teams playing on new coach emotion can do anything and when you add the important additions for both teams in Grundy, Adams, Fyfe, Wilson and Taberner, and the loss of DeGoey and Moore for the Pies this match could go either way.

With so many unknowns, I am sticking with the Pies to stay on a high for another weeks or two and just account for the Dockers.

Thommo Watch:

Collingwood
I have noticed many teams have traded in Pendlebury – high risk but possible a high reward play if Pendles plays a full-time midfield role. Grundy is a welcome return for many teams too.

Fremantle
Brayshaw is the most popular Docker and a few smart teams have Darcy in the ruck.

Thommo’s Tip:  Pies by 6 points (tipping record 21.5/39).

  1. Afternoon Folks.

Grundy and Brayshaw for me in this one.

I’ve also got a close eye on Bianco, as he’s my mid Emergency this week. I’m hoping for a decent score as I’m realistic about the chance Josh Kelly is a late out.

Can’t wait to see how Grundy goes against an in form Darcy.

I think this match up will go a long way to deciding the game.

    Best of luck everyone.

    Go Freo!

    • Afternoon Db C..

I think he still plays CHF.

Taberner ( on Roughhead ) will stay deep I think.

No Moore gives me some confidence he could go well today.

I think Madgen is his likely match up.

      But….

Don’t discount the “new coach effect” I think the Pies come out firing today.

I still think he may be worth a shot.

      Best of luck.

  3. Grundy & brayshaw here for me.
Close watch on Bianco he’s my E down back. If he can pump out a respectable score I might hold off trading Jones to Haynes . Is Haynes value if he gets his 2020 role back? Does he have it back? Decisions decisions

      • On Haynes.

I got him last week and can’t be happier at this stage. He was playing that loose in defence and even when he wasn’t marking it, he cleaned up a heap of ground ball and disposed of it well.

The only downside is if Davis goes down and he’s forced back to a lock down “Tall”.

I think he’s well worth the risk at his reduced price.

Plays Carlton in the SC grand final too 😉

I think I’ll grab him he should make $$ with his low BE anyway and I do have 7 trades in hand too flick him off if it doesn’t work out after a few weeks.

          Cheers

Just Grundy on field in this one for me with Bianco and Poulter (E) on the bench.

  5. Nine trades and 149,000 in my bank.

TU – Lachie Jones and brayshaw too Salem/Houston and pendles.

TD – settle on Lachie Jones too Haynes hold brayshaw

Does pendles score more than brayshaw on the run home

  6. If I keep the E on Bianco I lose the loop option, do I?
TU: Take the E off and use Newcombe if I need an E or Brockman if I want to loop.
TD: Keep the E on Bianco.

  7. Interesting tidbit heard last night on Ch.7: Pendles played all of May with a cracked rib. Hopefully that was the reason why his time in the guts was reduced and now he’s back to his best role.

  9. McCreery didn’t have a possession but on FF he’s showing a score of 1 point. Surely that’s not correct is it? He was my trade up to Danger.

    • yep the scoring on that match if it stays as is, is absolute BS … Pendles stats as recorded (not always accdurate / correct) should mean he scores way more … and Freo only one player on 100??? … CD are a joke.
